Chapter 32
Okay! Before this begins! This is a filler chapter before the next arc that I'm calling the Christmas arc. So yeah... think of this as an OVA. No I'm not gonna make another book because I'm afraid none of you will click it.
Anyways this is just random and I don't know... Yes an actual chapter will be out tomorrow. So this chapter is just them playing chess... and I made it random everything and I kid you not this is how it all played out...
"TOURNAMENT ARRRRRRRRRC!!!!" Mari yelled after I walked into their house.
"What the heck's happening?" I asked.
"If you didn't hear me already..." Mari paused, "TOURNAMENT ARRRRRRRRRRRRRCCC!!!!!"
"Yes, I understand that, what's the tournament on?"
"Something that requires brains... which unfortunately you don't have." Dia smirked.
"I hope you're not suggesting something like jenga." I sighed.
"Onee-chan wants to play chess." Ruby said.
"If this is a tournament arc, then what are the roles of each of us?" You asked.
"Okay." Riko said thoughtfully, "Dia's the antagonist, bully, and person most to win. Ruby is the student that's been training, Mari is the underdog, I'm the standard semi final contender, Kanan is the lucky one, and Shizuko is the protagonist. Everyone else sucks."
Okay so anyways, it's double elimination because Dia was so confident she'd win that she wanted the rest of us to be able to at least win one game.
One game only, if you drew... sucks to suck I guess. Anyways this was the bracket.
Round 1:
Riko vs Dia
You vs Hanamaru
Third Person's or Announcer's POV
These games have a 10 minute timer for each side. So you can win from a Timeout, Checkmate, or quitting.
In the first game between Riko and Dia we have the tensions rising already. Riko is known to be a pretty good contender in chess, definitely one of the top seeds of this tournament. However random shuffle puts her against the self-proclaimed antagonist of this tournament Dia.
So I won't bore you with the stupid moves but basically IT WAS DOWN TO THE WIRE! No it wasn't... Riko tried to play aggressive attempting to catch Dia making a mistake. However Dia was too smart and took her time with this.
In fact it was Riko who was caught off guard losing her knight, bishop and three pawns early. And the onslaught continued as Dia made her lose her trade queens and that sealed the deal.
In game two You had an easy win as Hanamaru had no clue what the hell she was doing. In fact at one point she attempted to eat one of the pieces, not eat as in capture the pieces. I mean almost putting it in her mouth...
Now it's time to announce round 2!
Ruby vs Dia
Kanan vs Chika
Yohane vs You
Shizuko vs Mari
Alright! In Kanan vs Chika, the mikan girl had no clue what she was doing. At one point yelling, "King me!" as if this was checkers. Kanan cruised to an easy victory.
You vs Yohane was basically the same as Yohane was trying to summon some sort of little demon on her pieces, I don't really know what happened there. So You already with two easy opponents.
In the classic sister matchup we have Ruby vs Dia. Now fun fact, both were taught by their mother how to play chess. However Ruby was their mother's favorite child, so Dia took down the evil path. Their sibling rivalry has never been settled. Today's the day to do so.
Now both were making smart plays in the beginning. Both using whatever moves to attempt to trick the other. Unfortunately Ruby was too low on time to make anything happen and sadly for our cute loli 8 year old she was defeated.
And now pretty much the match you've all been waiting for, Shizuko vs Mari. Shockingly Mari was pretty good at chess. Her father taught her the aggressive playstyle as a kid. Funny enough Shizuko was a defensive player. And as they say defense beats offense, he was able to block Mari and win with a timeout.
Alright let's look at the bracket once again. To start the first round of loser's bracket.
Chika vs Hanamaru
Riko vs Mari
In the first battle the female version of Matt Stonie took on the knock-off version of Honoka. And Hanamaru won, mainly because Chika took a five minute bathroom break killing off her time.
In Riko vs Mari everyone was excited to see which one as honestly either of them could still make it to the finals. It'd just be a rougher path. Now Riko was a balanced player, however Mari was a striker.
Mari played with an aggression unseen before. Offering up trades left and right. And eventually leading Riko to a checkmate. And giving her a second life here in the tournament.
We'll head straight into losers round two.
Yohane vs Mari
Ruby vs Hanamaru
Okay so in the battle of two rebels Mari won obviously. But not before Yohane flipped the board in anger.
Ruby and Hanamaru, childhood friends, and probably lovers who knows... But either way, they showed no mercy with Ruby checkmating in under two minutes. Probably needed to blow off some steam after losing to her sister.
Now time to go to the Winners bracket round three.
Dia vs Kanan
You vs Shizuko
The third years battled it out, and even though Kanan was a pretty smart player. Dia just absolutely stomped on her earning a checkmate in about five minutes.
You vs Shizuko was a fierce match as the two second years fought. In the end, You ran out of time as she spent too much time thinking.
Time to move to loser's bracket round 3.
Mari vs Kanan
You vs Ruby
Mari was able to defeat Kanan using her offensive playing she was able to win based on capturing many pieces. Leaving Kanan with nothing to work with.
You vs Ruby, the pink loli wants to take revenge on her sister, however You was able to play smart with time and another tournament favorite was knocked out.
Leaving a matchup a lot of us want to see.
You vs Mari
Now, this was an interesting match. You was a balanced player as most people know, but she studied how Dia handled Mari's gameplay and then took notes on Shizuko's defense. And was able to make Mari timeout.
So there were three people remaining in the tournament. Dia, Shizuko, and You. The first two would play each other and the loser would face You.
This was a match I hope we all were waiting for. The main protagonist vs the antagonist. But like all anime's go, the antagonist won. By checkmate.
Looking over at Shizuko he did not seem like he was okay. This guy was thinking way too hard. And using more brain power than he had.
In his game against You, he took a nap halfway through the game, and somehow still won.
After being recharged in his last game he was ready to face Dia, for the second time. And much to our surprise he takes the game... oh wait what? This is how anime's go? The protagonist always wins in the end?
Well that was anti-climactic...
And now time to interview the players.
"I thought it was really cool you could eat the pieces zura..."
"Kanan didn't give me a king..." Chika pouted.
"I didn't win a single game." Riko said depressed.
"I FAILED MY MOM!" Ruby cried.
"Oh you poor mortal beings... OBVIOUSLY THIS GAME WASN'T FOR THE DEVIL!" Yohane yelled.
"Chess is lame anyways... just one v one me in a regular fight... actually we should play chess boxing." Kanan stated.
"It was pretty fun, but we pretty much wasted a whole chapter..." You commented.
HEY YOU'RE BREAKING THE FOURTH WALL YOU IDIOT!
"I didn't think Pervert was this good... but at the same time he kind of sucks only going for timeouts." Mari laughed.
"I- No comment." Dia refused to speak to us.
"Honestly..." Shizuko started, "I AM JUST THE GREATEST CHESS PLAYER OF ALL TIME! EAT IT NERDS! YOU LOST TO SOMEONE WHO CAN'T EVEN SCORE A 100% ON THE EASIEST TEST IN THE WORLD! WOOOOOOOO!" he celebrated.
Wait is today Monday? Oh shoot... well I'll upload again today don't worry. This was kind of a fun little chapter for me. NOW LISTEN UP! I CHALLENGE ANY OF YOU TO CHESS!
ANY WATTPAD PEOPLE WANNA HAVE A CHESS TOURNAMENT?!
Anyways thanks for reading, next chapter will probably be out today since I only have a half day... but tomorrow is always an option...
