From 'Old man,' Zhan meant his grandfather, and not his father.

Once Zhan reached the hospital, he was met with high security, and his grandfather's secretary was the one who came to him to greet him.

"Mr. Xiao thank God you are here."

Zhan smiled, and the first thing he asked was, "Is he alive?"

The secretary was taken aback by this question as he looked at Zhan and then nodded his head and said, "Yeah, he had a broken leg and some head injuries; his condition is rather critical, but he is awake now and wants to see you."

Zhan nodded and said, "How did this happen?"

"Well, your grandfather got into a huge fight with your aunt and her son Zach, and both of them wanted your grandfather to make Zach the CEO. When your grandfather refused to obey and started to walk away, the two of them followed him and suddenly, he was pushed down the stairs, however, he does not know who was it that pushed him down.

Thankfully the servants were there and they helped him get to the hospital."

"What about my mom and dad."

"Well, instead of helping him all of them got into a fight and completely neglected him"

Zhan nodded, "I see." He then walked ahead and entered the room where his grandfather was and once, he went there he saw that his grandfather did not look good, he looked really terrible. It was as if he was on the verge of death.

Suddenly Zhan's smile was gone and he was no longer, he was not sad as well, it was complicated to tell how he was feeling, he and his grandfather were not close, he never really had any relation with his grandfather but then it was his grandpa who saved him from getting sued and saved his career, gave him good education and whatever Zhan was today was because of his grandpa. Hence, he respected him, that was why he had always wanted to prove himself to his grandpa but now, it was different.

Now seeing his grandpa lying on the bed helplessly he felt weird.

He took a deep breathe and cleared his throat as he walked ahead, and gently stood near his bed and said, "grandpa." His voice was gentle, his grandpa slowly opened his eyes as he looked at Zhan and sighed, "you are here huh. I thought you wouldn't come." His voice was weak and shaky.

Zhan smiled gently and sat down beside his bed as he said, "well, I am not that heartless or cruel. You are still my grandpa."

His grandfather smiled but it was a bitter smile, "here my two sons could care less whether I am dead or alive."

"Well, you were never really into any of our lives what do you expect?" Zhan said.

His grandfather Mr. Xiao nodded, "I know, I have been an absent figure in everyone's live and it's natural that everyone is absent when I need them." He then looked at Zhan, "I somewhat understand your need to get away from us monsters."

Zhan looked at him and said nothing; he just let Mr. Xiao talk. "I had a dream about your grandmother; she was a beautiful woman, a strong woman who loved me and I loved her too, she would be very disappointed because of how our family turned out to be.

Zhan... my company is not just a company; it's my child, something that I started from the scratch, it's the fruit of my sacrifices. I know that you are angry with me for going after your child, I know that you are fed up with the Xiao's... I might not have many more days left but I want to die with satisfaction knowing that my child is in right hands."

Zhan sighed, "I.... I can't stay with the Xiao family anymore grandfather... my parents have tried to ruin my life and well there was an attack on me, I care for the company as well but my life and well-being and my child, the person I love all of these come first."

"I know... I know... I should have taken an action sooner for you, but don't worry I will help you now... I am going to make sure that you are safe, I will teach all those people a good lesson."

"What can you even do now?" Zhan said, "both of your sons have a strong hold on the shares, even if I have the majority of the shares, I still have to see those people every day, which I can't I want to cut them all off from my life, I don't want to see them anymore, I want to go away to some other place and start over... I want to forget that you and these people are related to me...

I am tired to fighting Grandpa. Sorry,  but it's too late... Your time to take action has gone."

His grandfather knew this well as well and he knew that his family had gone out of control and there was nothing that he could do really, "Zhan... that's not true... it's true that I might not be able to do anything now but... there is more... I am going to sue your aunt and Zach for attempt to murder and have them get out of the Xiao family."

"But there is still uncle, Mom, and Dad." Zhan said. His grandfather became silent before he looked at Zhan and Zhan said, "It doesn't have to be me... grandpa why is It that someone related by blood has to take care of your company, it's about time you choose someone worthy and willing.

And before you call me ungrateful or selfish.... Let me say that it all came from you... if only you have stepped in before... if only you have taken a stand for me before...it wouldn't be like this now."
