Chapter 46.

People with paranoid personality disorder may doubt the commitment, loyalty, or trustworthiness of others, believing others are exploiting or deceiving them.

Be reluctant to confide in others or reveal personal information because they're afraid the information will be used against them.

Be unforgiving and hold grudges. Be cold and distant in their relationships with others and might become controlling and jealous to avoid being betrayed.

Not see their role in problems or conflicts, believing they're always right.

Have difficulty relaxing.

Be hostile, stubborn, and argumentative.

Ziyi listed several other things and Zhan could relate to most of them.

"So, I am mentally sick?" Zhan spoke as his heart started to beat faster than usual. He swallowed and rubbed his forehead, "will I never be able to trust anyone? Are all my relationships going to end up being toxic because of me?" he spoke.

Several thoughts swarmed his mind, he didn't really think that he was sick. What now? What if someone found out and used it against him? What if Zach or his parents found out about this diagnose and spread rumors about him being an insane person?

"Mr. Xiao, back to earth," Ziyi said as she called out to him, Zhan looked at her, and gave him a gentle smile. "You also seem to have a problem with overthinking."

Zhan sat straight, "I..." he sighed and said to Ziyi, "You are not to leak this information, right?"

"You have my word; we have signed an agreement, Mr. Xiao. My license, career, and job will be at stake if I leak the private conversation of my patient. You can relax."

Zhan was not able to relax, though, and Ziyi said, "Mr. Xiao, the first step to solving a problem is to recognize it, and you have already recognized the problem, and you also took the second step by applying for therapy.

You came clean about your feelings, and there is hope for a better future.

Healing isn't easy, nor is it fun it takes time; it takes a lot of patience and consistency. Mr. Xiao, you have your son with you now, and I can see that you want to be a better person for him."

Zhan nodded. "Sometimes I feel overwhelmed because of so many things that I want to say."

"I know, there are a lot of things that you are holding back in your heart, aren't you?" Ziyi said, "Was there anything you wanted to say to Zane? Or your parents?"

"Yes, if I got the chance, then I would tell Zane that I am sorry; I shouldn't have said those words to him, and as for my parents, I... have nothing but resentment towards them."

Ziyi smiled, opened her drawer, and gave something to Zhan, "here take this."

"What is it?" Zhan asked.

"This is a journal; you can write whatever you want to say to Zane in here; you can also write whatever you want to say to your parents here as well."

"What if someone reads it? It's dangerous." Zhan said as he kept the journal back on the table. He himself read Zane's journal, in which Zane had written about his deepest feelings. Zhan would never want anyone else to read about his feelings.

Ziyi spoke, "Then you just have to keep it very, very safe; you can do that, right, Mr. Xiao? So, this is your homework; write about your feelings in this journal."

Zhan sighed as he took the journal and said, "There are many things I want to say to Yibo as well."

"Then you can think about everything that you want to say to him and write it down in the journal, and when you think the time is right, you can approach him to say whatever you want to say that is only if he is willing to listen. That way, you can get proper closure.

But for now, let's take baby steps."

"I am happy to see you back on track," Sarah said, as she sat before Yibo, the two had met in a café.

It had been a while since the two had met, Yibo now had a job and was doing good for himself, he had good colleagues and made new friends, and life was good. The best part was that he was able to meet and talk to Luhan, and Zhan never interfered. Whenever Yibo spent time with Luhan, Zhan would never show up or interrupt them, Zhan would always greet him but he said nothing more than that.

Yibo was grateful for that.

"Thanks, Sarah." He said as the two drank their coffee and Yibo asked, "so how is the work going?"

"Nice, you know I am going to work hard enough, and I am going to be the next CEO."

"Yes, you should be."

Sarah spoke, "you should also-"

"Sarah, we already had this conversation before."

Sarah sighed, "I just wonder why didn't you even try to come back to the company?"

Yibo said, "Sarah, that company was founded by our fathers, by their ideas, hard work, and money; no one else had any right on it other than them, but it was my father who betrayed the trust of your father; why should Mr. Sinclair care about a traitor? And why should he care about the children and the person who back stabbed him? Me and Yuki were not his responsibility; yes, it would be 'kind' of him to think about us, but he wasn't obliged to.

My parents were healthy and educated, and they were not even disabled, it was their responsibility to look after me and Yuki, it was their duty to protect and shelter us, not your father's. But my parents failed, and their incompetence in raising children was not Mr. Sinclair's fault. You have worked hard to be where you are today; you started from the lowest position and have finally risen to the top; you deserve the company since you have contributed so much to it; you have given it your youth and life, Sarah; I know you are going to be a good leader."

Sarah was touched by his words, "Damn you. You are really a great person, you know that?"

Yibo just smiled as he sipped from his drink. They sat in silence for a while before he asked, "How is the lawsuit going?"

Sarah replied, "Zhan is going to win for sure; he has hired the best lawyers, and the evidence he has is solid as well; his grandfather is also supporting him."

"That's great."

"You could have asked him this yourself; you meet him often."

"We just see each other; we don't talk."

"I see. By the way he told me about your past with him, I didn't expect you guys to be besties."

Yibo smiled, "I know hard to believe, but that was a long time ago, we are both changed now."

"Hm... anyway, what are your plans for love life."

"None."

"Why? You should date; should I set you up with-"

"No thanks, Sarah; I want to focus on my career," Yibo said, and besides, he does not think that he will be able to deal with love anymore. The amount of heartache and pain that he had endured because of love was enough for him to never try again. In this life, he has only ever loved one person, and that's never going to change. He had experienced the beauty of love, as well as immense pain.

He can't give that amount of love and energy to any other person. Besides with how shitty his life has been, he knew that falling in love again was not possible or easy. Since he might not be that emotionally available or invested, there was no need to waste other people's time and energy as well.

Author's note: I know all of you wanted Yibo to take the company back, but that wouldn't make any sense, what Yibo said was absolutely right. I don't think that the children should feel like they 'own' their parent's money, they should work hard on their own and become independent rather than depending on their parents for everything, unless they are disabled or have some very serious problems like Zane. And if parents have made them self-sufficient and educated, then it's even better.

However, if the parent wants to give their children the money, then it's their choice. And it was Yibo's father who was incompetent and was unable to protect his children. It wasn't anyone's fault; people like him should never really have children in the first place.

Honestly, I would have been very pissed if I were Sarah and worked so hard for the company only for some random person who is the son of the person who betrayed her father and broke her family to take the Post that she has worked so hard for (this would make a good revenge story, though. lol.)
