Chapter 41: Always and Forever
Tasha frowned as she watched Loki create a mirror image of himself across the room. As much as she tried, she felt herself become overwhelmed by her powers when she thought too much on them. She didn't want to have powers. She wanted to be normal. So much of her life was abnormal, she had hoped for one single thing to be plain and simple.
But life had different plans for the girl.
"Tasha, pay attention to your brother and Loki." words brought Tasha from her inner termoil, causing the girl to sigh.
"My apologies, mother." Tasha directed her attention to the boys who were dueling; both using their magic.
Thor directed his lightning bolts with his hammer while Loki used his clone to distract him. Her thoughts soon drifted to the latter as she found herself wonder why her mother refused to refer to Loki as her sibling. Never before had anyone in her close vacuity called Loki her brother; and she was thankful for that. He had never been, nor ever would be, a brother or sibling to her. Loki was something else entirely...
"Tasha."
"Hmm?" Tasha was dazed for a moment as she realized Frigga was looking at her slightly annoyed while the two boys were laughing. "I'm sorry, mother! I just don't understand why I must watch them duel when I've seen it many times before."
"That was different." She sighed as she brought Tasha over to Loki. "Quit your daydreaming, alright? This is important."
Tasha nodded before she shoved Loki's shoulder once he smirked at her. "Don't get cocky."
"You lack focus, darling." Loki hummed as he brushed a loose strand of hair from her face. "What has you elsewhere?"
"Nothing." Tasha blushed, brushing him off with a shrug. "You two are dull, that's all."
"Dull, she says." Thor mused as he looked between his two siblings. "I think she was focussed on someone else."
"What are you talking about?" Loki asked Thor curiously while Tasha simply glared at her older brother in annoyance.
"He's being daft." Tasha muttered.
"Am I?" Thor smirked when he saw Tasha's cheeks turn red. "Awe, look at you, sister. Whose the lucky one to have your affections?"
"That's enough." Frigga shook her head at her son.
"Affections?" Loki looked at Tasha before looking at Thor. "She doesn't have affections for anyone."
"If you truly believe that then you are blind, dear brother." Thor laughed.
"Thor—" Frigga went to chastise her son but before she could the windows next to Thor broke into thousands of small shards as he was thrown back against the bookshelf with a loud smack.
Everyone turned their attention to Tasha who was holding her hands out as purple energy surrounded her, mainly focussed in her palms. Her eyes were dark as she glared at Thor who let out a laugh.
"I think your emotions affect your powers." He revealed.
"You think?!" Tasha growled.
"Remind me not to get on your bad side." Loki smirked slightly as he stepped over to her, slowly reaching his hand out to rest on her shoulder. "Don't let it control you. You are in control." Tasha let out a deep breath as she lowered her hands, shaking slightly as she leaned into him.
"I think that is more than enough for today." Frigga announced, turning to Loki. "Take her back to her room. She looks exhausted."
"Of course, mother."

"What were you going on about back there?"
Loki has met up with Thor once he had helped Tasha to her bedchambers. Once she was safely tucked in bed he left her to rest, but Thors words from earlier continued to pester his brain.
"What?"
"You know what."
Thor chuckled. "You May be the God of mischief, brother, but it would take a blind man to not notice how you look at Tasha."
Loki scoffed. "I have no idea what you are referring to."
"Oh, sureeeee." Thor rolled his eyes, a trait he had picked up heavily from his little sister. "I've never seen you care for anyone, but with her you'd give the world and then some."
"That may be so, but that doesn't explain your comment earlier. Who does she fancy? Not Fandral, I hope."
"No, she does not like Fandral — though he is quite smitten with her... do you honestly not see it?"
"See what?"
"The way she looks at you! She gazes at you like you are her entire universe. She immediately lights up when you enter her vicinity."
"I admit we are close, but not in that way, even if I were to wish it so."
"Wishing isn't going to get her to be yours." Thor shrugged. "Don't let your insecurities lose you of this bright light. Her soul is pure. Her heart is pure. And she has fallen for you. You're allowed to be happy."
Loki laid awake that night pondering his conversation with Thor. Was it truly that obvious — his feelings for Tasha? Could everyone around notice the way he stared at her? The way she made him feel? He hated feeling so vulnerable, but the longer he thought on her, the more he yearned for her. There hadn't been a moment since Loki met her where he didn't need her nor want her. He could hardly remember a time without her — and he didn't ever wish it so. He couldn't imagine his life without her — and that terrified him to the core.
Loki refused to fall for such simplistic things such as love, even if it meant he would break her to keep himself from her lure. He'd like to think he would sleep easy that night, now that he had decided to push her away, but he knew the only truth was that his dreams would be plagued by her beauty, her smile...
Always and forever.
