Chapter 37: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe
"Gah!" Tasha groaned as she was knocked to the ground for the 37th time. Her fellow woman warrior of Asgard looming over her as she slowly grew more and more agitated with herself.
"Tasha," Lady Sif remarked as she bent to lend Tasha her hand, "You can't hold back in battle. That is going to be your downfall and don't try to say you were trying your hardest because I know for a fact that that is a lie."
Tasha stayed quiet, seething on the floor. The Lady Sifi walked toward the others. Tasha tried to rejoin, but found each time to be worse and worse as her anger grew. Lady Sif continued to push her deeper and deeper into her anger. Until she had enough and her eyes flashed purple.
In her rage, Tasha destroyed the entire practice arena, barely missing her parents, Loki and Thor on the viewing balcony. Lady Sif smashed against the wall and landed on the floor. In a moment of fear Tasha fled the area.
"Why did I do that to her? What is wrong with me?" She cried as she made her way toward town, her hands shaking as she tugged her gauntlets off her wrists and threw them towards the ground. "Just stay calm, Tasha. If you stay calm, no one else gets hurt."
"Miss?"
Tasha sprang around to find a young woman looking at her with shock and concern.
"I am sorry for bothering you, princess, but you seem to be upset. Do you need some help?"
"No, I'm fine but you should probably leave." Tasha declared as best she could while hastily wiping the tears from her eyes. This only concerned the woman more.
"Princess, I think you need some help. Let me help you."
"No, I'm fine." Tasha's hands started to shake more vigorously. Although she tried to contain it, her eyes began to flash.
"Please let me help you." The commoner pleaded.
"I said, I dont need help!" Her magic reaching out, strangling the commoner around her throat. Tasha could see everything around her but her body refused to respond as her magic stayed around the commoners neck. Her eyes a solid purple.
She could hear the voice of Thor. She did not care. She heard her mother and father. She still did not care. Within an inch of the commoner's life, Tasha felt something soft hold onto her hand. She looked to find Loki, staring into her eyes.
"Tasha." His calm voice hitting her in to her very core. "My princess, please stop."
Almost immediately, Tasha's body calmed down. Her magic slowly drawing away from the azgardian's neck.
"MOMMY!!" A little boy ran to the woman and hugged her tightly. His face streaming with tears.
"My boy," the woman remarked, "Mommy is okay. She's okay."
Tasha broke down on the floor in tears. Her emotions finally catching up to her. Thor slowly went down to his knees and picked Tasha up into his arms as he flew to the Azgardian palace.
After two hours hidden in her room, Tasha heard a knock at the door.
"Who is it? I am not in the mood for company." Her voice saddened, almost silent.
"Hey, it's your friendly neighborhood Thor, coming to cheer up his little sister."
Tasha's silence was all Thor needed to become serious.
"Look Tash, I know you feel bad for hurting the commoner and Lady Sif but your powers are amazing with a little of work, you could be as powerful as me." Thor's excitement on full force.
"I know that you love me, brother, but I believe that it is best that I don't ever use my magic again."
"Sister, your magic is a part of you, and —"
"Thor, I don't want to talk about it."
"But Tash-"
"I said I don't want to talk about it!" Her eyes beginning to flash again.
"Okay Sister, if that is what you want but we are talking about this later." Thor walked out and closed the door.
Not five minutes later, there were knocks on the door again.
"Thor, five minutes is not later!" Tasha yanked the door open to find Loki outside with her gauntlets in his hands.
"Do you want me to come later?" Loki's confusion evident on his face.
"No, its fine." Tasha shrugged, leaving the door open for him to enter her room. "Thor came in all excited about my powers,"
"And you're not?" Loki's confusion engraved deeper on his face.
"Of course not! You saw what I did today! These powers of mine are far too dangerous —"
"That's why you train. Now that we have seen your power, we can do better than how we were."
"I just..." Tasha sighed. "I don't want to hurt people, Loki. Look at what I did to Lady Sif. Look at what I did to that commoner! I nearly killed her — one of our people! A little boy could have lost his parent because of me. I refuse to let myself use my powers if it hurts the people I love."
During her entire speech, her body seemed to get closer and closer to Loki's. Their eyes staring into each others.
"If I ever hurt you..."
The complete silence said it all.
"Well," Loki began, "I guess I'll have to make sure that never happens. Let me help you and I promise you that I will never let you hurt anyone and I will never hurt you"
Tasha gave him a small playful smile.
"You promise?" She questioned.
Loki went and softly grabbed Tasha's hand, squeezing it lightly.
"I promise."
