Chapter 32: Reawakening
"YOUR SAVIOUR IS HERE!"
Tasha felt her heart ignite in a blazing fire as she saw Loki, his voice could have made her weep in that moment... had she not been in the middle of a tough fight. She let out a shriek when the creature cut her upper arm, slicing through the armor as if it was glass. She hit him with her bracers, pushing him away with all her strength as he fell from the bridge.
Tasha winced when she looked at the blood seeping from her arm. Without her magic, it stung like Hel. She tried to ignore the pain as more of the creatures advanced towards her.
"I don't think they like you very much!" Val called to her from a fair ways away.
"Apparently no one does!" Tasha called back, ducking from an enemy while Val shot them dead. "Thanks, love!"
Tasha wanted to go to Loki but as she tried to push through the crowd of enemies she was surrounded by them. She held her daggers tightly in her hands, glaring at the undead creatures.
"Ah!" Tasha cried out in pain when one sliced her cheek as she dodged another's sword, cutting the subsequent enemies head off. "Motherfucker!"
Tasha's dagger was knocked from her hand as the creature hit it with its sword. She staggered back a few paces as the creature swung at her, falling to her feet. Before the creature could stab her, a dagger flew from behind Tasha, straight into the head of the creature who fell to the ground. Immediately Tasha got to her feet and turned around, nearly bumping into Loki who was staring at her, worry clear on his face.
"Are you alright?" He called over the sound of the battle. She nodded, unable to look away from him as she tried to catch her breath.
"You... you actually came."
Loki smiled, relieved she wasn't harmed too terribly. "I choose you, Tasha. It's always been you — as it always will be, my darling."
Tasha and Loki gazed at each other for a moment, their eyes never leaving one another as Tasha grabbed onto the sides of his face, pressing her lips against his passionately. The fighting around them continued, but neither could care less as they held each other, lips moving hot and passionately as Loki's fingers gripped her hips tightly.
When Tasha pulled away she smiled at him, grabbing his dagger from his hand to stab the creature coming towards them. Loki smirked at her then he saw a glow in her eyes, and finally he understood why she lost her powers.
"Call your sword."
"Loki—"
"Trust me!"
Loki defended Tasha as she held her hand out, calling to her sword. In a mere instant Sarjerr was in her hand, her shield in her other. She grinned at him as she felt the magic run through her body she had been missing completely for so long.
Tasha's magic took out all the creatures around them, making her smile at Loki. "It was your fault!" She teased. He hadn't seen her so happy in a very long time. Before he could tease her back, Tasha jumped towards the fire and enemies, her magic carrying her further with her strength.
With her magic back, Tasha felt truly alive for the first time since the last battle she had, which happened to be with Tony Stark. She was clearly Team Cap because of Bucky, and it broke her heart to have to fight someone she considered a friend, more importantly someone she also considered her family. She knew it was a betrayal Tony would likely be unable to forgive, but she had hope that one day he could understand her side of things.
In all honesty, the last time Tasha felt truly free with her powers was when she fought Ultron with the Avengers. It had been the first time since Loki's death that she was able to fully use her magic, each time making her remember when she first discovered how strong her powers truly were.
Tasha was still young, and she was training with some of the woman warriors of Asgard. Lady Sif was not only one of Tasha's best friends, but also her mentor who helped her train with a sword. One day she was training with one of the strongest warriors in the Kingsguard, and when she thought she had been defeated she couldn't have been more wrong.
Magic flew from her gauntlets, knocking the warrior back while also knocking most surrounding them over. The King and Queen had been watching from a balcony while Thor and Loki were in the crowd of people cheering the young princess on. All four were shocked at the power she presented, but Tasha was terrified as she stared at her wrists where she felt a warmth radiating from them.
"Are you alright?!" It was Loki who reached her first, kneeling in front of her with a concerned glance as his hand gently went to cup her face.
"Yes, I- I am fine." Tasha replied shakily, slowly reaching her hand out to him.
Loki pulled her to her feet, noticing her wobble slightly. He gently grabbed onto her waist to steady her as Thor caught up to them.
"Sister!"
"I'm fine, Thor. Is Terakah alright?"
"I am well, princess." Terakah replied as she stood to her feet, immediately bowing as the King and Queen stepped forward. She had a few scrapes on her arms but no serious harm has been done
"Come, my daughter." Odin spoke plainly, turning back towards the castle.
Tasha and her brothers followed the two through the castle until they were lead into a large room filled with mystical items.
"Father, I honestly do not know what happened! When I blocked her attack, it was like something deep down inside of me awoken. I —"
"Hush, my daughter. You are in no trouble." Frigga said softly as she caressed the young girl's cheek.
"Mother, I don't understand. Why only now am I showing my powers? I thought —"
"Sometimes those with complicated pasta find it incredibly difficult to use their powers, often rendering them dormant for many years. I'm surprised you were able to break through the wall that was holding you back, my dear.
"Odds are because you are surrounded by magic so often it helped your powers come to the surface." Loki added from against the wall.
"You need to learn to control this magic of yours. All magic can be dangerous if not contained." Odin spoke authoritatively. "Loki and your mother will train you to harness your magic, young one."
Tasha had her head bowed, feeling as though he was ashamed of her now because she was different.
"Yes, Father."
