Chapter 28: I Hate You, Don't Leave Me
I hate you, don't leave me ~ Demi Lovato

"Thor and Loki can get the aircraft." Tasha said without looking at either of them.
"What about you?" Thor asked.
Valkerye snorted, making Tasha smile. "I'm with the pretty one."
"I beg your pardon?" Loli asked as he looked at her.
Tasha shrugged in reply, giving Thor a thumbs up before walking away with Val. "Im gonna call you Val, if that's alright with you."
"If you want to get murdered." She replied with a laugh.
While Tasha put her daggers into her leg holsters, she noticed Loki walking over to her. "Now, what do I owe the pleasure, my king?" Tasha seethed sarcastically as she stood up, folding her arms across her chest.
"Would you reconsider coming with us?" Loki spoke softly.
"Nope."
"Fine, suit yourself. Here." Loki frowned, indicating for Tasha to turn around.
She hesitated, not trusting him.
"I don't bite."
"That's a lie." Tasha joked, a small smile coming to her face before she turned her back to him. Loki pressed a button to the sleeve of her armour before pulling on her shoulders, forcing Tasha to turn towards him, putting another button on the middle of her armour.
"This will help keep you from damage in combat." He explained, his blue eyes meeting hers for a moment, his fingers lingering on the edge of her collarbone.
"I need to go." Tasha said quietly as she averted her gaze.
"Promise me you won't be reckless."
Tasha smiled sadly. "You're the reckless one, darling." She sighed. "I'll be fine. Goodbye, Loki—"
"Please don't say goodbye." He grabbed onto her hand before she could walk away, his eyes gazing into hers deeply.
"It will never truly be goodbye, you know that." She frowned, using her free hand to touch the side of his face as she looked up at him. "Loki, I would've gave up everything for you. I wish things could be different..." She felt tears come to her eyes as she slowly pulled away from him.
"You reap what you sow."

Loki watched as Tasha left Thor and him alone, and he felt as though he had truly lost her forever. Never before had he felt so broken inside. He didn't know how to fix it either. He was terrified that she was truly done with him. She had a man waiting for her on Midgard — why would she want to be with him when she truly loved this other man? He was better than Loki in so many ways — but the main way he was better, was he hadn't broken her in the ways Loki had. He admired the man for that. Even if he would never admit it to anyone other than himself.

The mission with Val went smoothly and soon enough they were on the ship and traveling to Asgard. Tasha felt her heart ache as Thor approached her, as when he had come aboard Loki was nowhere in sight and she knew then the path he had chosen had diverged from hers.
Thor sat next to his sister, resting his hand on her knee. "Would you like to talk about it?"
Tasha shook her head. "No. I think if we speak on it I might break." She sighed as she held her dagger in her hand tightly. "How long until we get home?"
"A few hours..." He frowned, opening his mouth to speak but Tasha cut him off.
"If you're going to tell me how Loki loves me, please don't, Thor. Please." She slid her daggers into her holsters, her facial expression stoic and unreadable.
"I wouldn't do that, not after everything, but know that when you are ready to speak on it, I am here for you sister. And, when you're ready, I would love to hear about your time on Earth that I have missed."
Tasha smiled at her older brother. "Thank you, big brother..."
"My sister, my responsibility."

Tasha sighed deeply as she leaned against the balcony wall, gazing at the garden below. She envied those who were freely able to be and do what they wanted. Her lips quivered as the idea of being forced to marry a man she didn't even know, let alone love. The only man who had her heart was the one she could never have.
How cruel is that?
"I thought I'd find you out here."
Tasha smiled slightly as Loki leant on the walls edge next to her, following her gaze to the garden below. "I can't exactly be anywhere else at the moment."
"Ah yes," Loki laughed, "How is your little party? Any suitors catch your fancy?"
"Yeah, totally." She rolled her eyes in annoyance before she noticed the aggravated look on his face. "I didn't want any of this, you know. Father is going to force me to wed some stranger and for what? Grandchildren?" She shook her head.
Loki snorted at that. "You're still but a child."
"There have been much younger than I married off and discarded with children born from it all." Tasha's words held a venomous tone. "We live for so long and for what? To be thrown around by our own family?"
"Father does want what is best for you, I believe." Loki said after a few moments of silence, though Tasha could easily see he was clenching his jaw.
"I'm not a child, Loki! You and Thor may treat me as such, but I assure you I am not." She sighed then, shaking her head as she turned her focus back to the garden.
"Besides, why do you care whom I marry?"
Loki was silent, his jaw clenched once more as he turned to face her. She was absolutely radiant, and it angered him to see the way all the men looked at her. She was never meant to be his, and yet his heart, soul and body yearned for her in ways none should. His jaw relaxed when he saw how upset Tasha looked, resting a gentle, cool hand onto her cheek. "I care because all I want is for you to be happy."
"I will never be happy with any of those men!" She exclaimed in annoyance. "I don't wish to marry any of them, Loki! I do not love any of them!"
Loki sighed before glancing over at the ballroom, noticing that everyone was caught up in their own conversations, allowing Loki the time to grab Tasha's hand and tug her down the staircase.
"Come with me."
As Loki dragged Tasha down the staircase, she couldn't help but giggle, her hand holding his tightly. "Loki! I can't just leave! Father—"
"Father does not need to know." Loki replied with a smirk before pulling her into the lavish garden.
The two walked in silence a while until they neared the rainbow bridge somewhat, making Tasha able to gaze at the water cascade off the abyss.
"Do you think father will send me away?"
Loki blinked a few times in confusion. "Why would he ever do something as stupid as that?"
"Whomever I am forced to marry — what if they are from another realm? Father will send me away."
Loki shook his head as he stepped closer to her, fear of losing her forever slipping into his mind. "No. I will not let that happen."
Tasha laughed sadly as tears fell down her face, "You can't stop this, Loki."
He gently grabbed onto her arms, pulling her to him. He was less than a foot away when he moved one of his hands to her waist, the other stroking her cheek. "You need not worry, darling. I will not let anyone take you away from me."
Tasha felt her heart race at his words, her cheeks flushing as she averted her gaze to his chest. "How do you expect to change the mind of the Allfather himself?"
Loki lifted her chin up slowly, his eyes holding so much emotion she was sure she would drown in it.
"You will marry me."
Loki pressed his lips to hers gently, his hold on her tightening. Tasha let out a surprised gasp, but when she finally understood that this was real, she kissed him back. Their lips moved in sync, both of them finally able to let out the pent up feelings that had brewed for so many years.
"I am yours, if you'll have me." Loki smiled as he pulled away to gaze at her, his usual pale skin slightly tinged pink.
"Yes." Tasha replied breathlessly as she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling his lips back to hers. "I'm yours, Loki. I have always been yours."
Loki swore he had never felt as happy in life as he did in that moment. Never did he think Tasha would ever love him back in such a way, but seeing how happy she was as she gazed up at him made him grin.
"I'm very glad to hear that. I would hate to have to murder my rivals."
"Well, I don't know about that." She teased. "Fandral was quite the gentleman tonight."
Loki's green eyes narrowed at her. "Careful, love."
"Or what?" She smirked as she pulled away from him, playfully walking along the balcony that would lead into the water.
Loki grabbed her by the waist, pulling her into him with a slight growl. "You're mine. Fandral doesn't get to have you. No man other than I will ever come near you."
Tasha rolled her eyes, "You are so easy to make jealous, Loki. It's quite adorable." She hummed as she gently brushed his hair back that had begun to fall by his face. "I keep thinking this is a dream and that I shall wake up and everything will have been just a cruel joke."
"If this is a dream, let us not wake from it." Loki pressed his lips to her forehead as they began walking back towards the castle. "May I ask you something, darling?"
"Of course."
"In all honesty, when did you begin realize you..."
"I what?"
"Had... feelings... for me... " Loki wouldn't look at her, instead focused on the path ahead of them.
Tasha frowned when she noticed how scared and vulnerable Loki looked. She knew then he had always feared she would reject him, just as she had thought him of. "When you found me that day and Odin took me in as his own, I felt something for you that wasn't anything like how I saw Thor. Thor is my brother. But you... I can't even remember a moment where you and I, or anyone else has referred to us as brother and sister, because everyone knew that from the start we were something completely different than that. Something more than that. But I was young, and you were so much older than I, you may be the god of mischief but you have hundreds of women who would fall to their knees for you, I didn't think I stood a chance." Tasha laughed, "I can remember when Thor realized I had feelings for you."
"Thor would bother me about my feelings for you since the day you arrived in our lives." Loki admitted with a slight smile. "To this day, I can't remember a time when we were alone that he didn't bring it up."
Tasha nodded, "Same for me as well. I guess Thor would approve of our..." Tasha paused as she stopped walking, causing Loki to turn back to her.
"Hmm?"
"What does this make us?" She asked, then immediately regretted her question. "I just — I really care about you and I— the thought of losing you —"
Tasha's words were cut off by Loki's lips crashing against hers. Tasha was shocked for a moment by the intensity of the kiss, but soon reciprocated as any fears either of them had dissipated the longer they kissed. Loki pulled back after a few moments, making Tasha whine.
Loki smirked at this, but it faded into a soft smile as he gazed into her eyes. "I love you, Tasha. I've loved you for a very long time, and I would very much like to call you mine in all the ways you can be."
She smiled lovingly at him. "Loki — I love you too. I want — I want to be yours. I want you to be mine and I — I just want to be with you."

How simple things were back then. Sure, the two had to find their fathers approval of their love, but they were happy. Now? Tasha felt her heart sink as she shook her head to try and rid herself of the memories that made her heart ache. She had to focus on the task ahead; defeating Hela.
