Chapter 6 New Job

A few months later, Kevin has lots of job interviews, but no good news.  He begins to think he will never find work when he gets a call back from a place. He answers with a grin. He hangs up with excitement.

"Yes, I have a new job at last!" He exclaims a bit louder than he intends too.

After his shower, Kevin gets dressed, makes sure to comb his hair and brush his teeth before he leaves for work.  He arrives on time for his first day as an assistant to the boss.

Meanwhile, Kelsey is busy with orders for cards as usual. She finishes earlier than normal since so many people are back in school. It is not her fault this time of year is the slowest for card shops.  She hands her boss the receipt for today's sales and goes home.

Once inside her place, she frowns. She recalls she meant to buy herself a fish.  Goodness, how could she have been so forgetful already?

Kelsey leaves goes to the pet store and purchases one beat fish along with all its essential needs. She arrives home in no time where she sets the new home up and gently adds the fish into the water last along with some of the water conditioner.  She is grateful for the guy at the pet shop was patient enough to explain everything to her. The last thing she wants is for her new animal to die.

She gets a text from her sister and frowns. It is not like she has anything different to share with her.  She already made the decision not to mention her secret admirer so her sibling will not ask about the wedding plans.  Goodness, that would be awkward as ever to have to deal with that kind of drama.

Three days later, Kelsey opens up her mail box on her way to work and smiles. She sees an envelope inside from him. She thinks the mysteriousness is nice, but at the same time wishes she knew who it was from so she could properly thank him. She leaves the note in her car since she has to work and can not bother with the distraction.

Later, after work, she drives home and parks in her usual spot.  She gets out, grabs her purse, keys, and the letter. She unlocks the door, enters her place, and relaxes. She tears into the envelope curious to know what he has to say this time.

Kelsey frowns when she reads the bad news.  Then, she smiles when she sees him talk about his new job. She thinks well good for him. She knows how much he disliked working for his father anyway.  She hears the doorbell ring and tucks the item she rather no one else see inside her back jeans pocket.
