Chapter 4 The Second Letter Arrives!
Kelsey wakes up sick. She feels very ill. She tries to get ready for work, but ends up in the bathroom instead. She looks at her watch. It is already ten minutes past the time her shift begins at the card shop. She sighs as she dials the number for her boss. She waits to see if he answers.
"Hello?" her boss answers on the first ring.
"Hello, this is Kelsey!" She says weakly.
"Where are you? You know work starts at the same time everyday!" her boss says
"Yes, I know..." Kelsey says. She drops the phone as she fights the urg to barf again. She goes into the bathroom and pukes.
"Kelsey, are you alright?" her boss ask.
"No, I am sick. I think it is a stomach bug, or the flu. I am not sure which yet." Kelsey says when she gets back after she washes her hands.
"I am sorry to hear that my best employee is ill. Well, take all the time you need. Hope you get better soon." Mr. Wilson says.
"Thanks, I will try my best!" Kelsey says. She hangs up. She runs to the bathroom, blows her nose, coughs and then pukes again.
Kelsey thinks, I am so weak. She is not sure if it is really just a virus or what. She supposes she will just have to let things run their course to find out.
Elsewhere, Kevin works hard. He sells a few cars. He smiles as he gets a job promotion. He did not expect this at all. He continues to strive to do his best at his job. Later, he returns home to find a message on his machine. He listens to it closely. He can tell is is father. His dad always seems to try to set him up with someone. He frowns as he thinks about Kelsey. He often thinks, his father is one who is a reasonable person. Now, he ponders if he is right or not.
On the other hand, Kelsey is really not well at all. She goes to bed early. She makes sure to turn off all the lights and sets the alarm system. She figures at least this way no one can break inside and disturb me while I am not that good. She rolls over and falls fast to sleep.
The mail carrier comes by and rings the doorbell. He notices the residence does not answer right away. He sets a package down on her porch along with the rest of her mail and leaves. He can only hope whoever lives here notices the stuff before someone else does. It is rather wet out so the mail might get all messy soon. He leaves and goes on to the next house as this is his job after all.
Kelsey wakes up and hour later. He face feels all hot and sweaty. She checks her temperature and sees it is 101.4 Agh! She thinks to herself, no wonder she feels so awful! She has a low grade fever. She turns the alarm off, opens the front door and sees all the items that are there. She picks them up and brings them inside. She sets them down on the table, closes and locks the door back, sets the alarm and sits down in a chair.
She opens the package. Inside there is lots of dishes. China pieces to be exact. Wow, this stuff looks nice, but rather fragile to suit her taste. She leaves it inside the box for the moment. She really is not sure where to store the coffee cups, plates, bowls, and such just yet. She decides to wait until she feels much better to even bother with this. She slowly opens the envelope that sits on her table top now.
Kelsey smiles when she sees the letter inside is from him, her mystery man as she dubs him. She is not sure what else to refer to him as just yet. It is not like she recalls anyone as amazing as he is in her life. She blushes at the very thought. She feels silly about the effect his letters appear to have on her. She smiles though despite her sickness as she reads the latest news from her admirer.
Dear Kelsey,
There is no way you could ever bore me. I find you to be one who fastenates me. Why the very idea that you should believe otherwise, surprises me. I think it is cool you have such a variety of flowers around your house. I am sure those suit you very well.
As for the no pets, well that is okay. It is not everyday, I get to hear from someone as lovely as you. I am sorry, If I come across as to bold here. It is just that I have seen you from afar. I am sure of it.
I know I have met you in the past. It was at my high school prom. You were at the punch bowl, and I accidentally manage to spill punch all over your dress. I try to apologize, but you just walk off with a sad look in your eyes. The next day, you avoid me as much as you can. It turns out we were in the same science, English, and French classes together.
I hope all is well with you! As for a pet fish, I would recommend the beta fish as these sorts of animals do well on their own. They do not need a companion to keep them company. I suggest you find a pet store expert for help to find the right allegy eater, so you will not have to clean the tank out as often.
When it comes to my job, well I manage to sell more cars, and trucks lately than I have in years. My dad seems to show his satisfaction with a simple hand shake and a grunt. Hey, I will take what I can get from him. He is not one to show much affection. He has been like this for the longest time I can remember.
Anyway, I have no ideas what is like to have sibling as I am an only child. I say your sister probably means well as she is someone who possibly envy's you while she looks up to you as well. This often happens among large families, or so I have been told.
I do hope to hear from you again, soon! Oh,but do not rush your response on my account.
SIncerely,
your secret Admirer,
Ps. I have a deep fondness for you.
As Kelsey finshes she blushes at the kind, romantic words the man seems to use as he writes to her. She can only dream that he is as good a person in real life as he is in these letters. She figures only time will really tell anyway.
A week later...
Kelsey is still ill. She can seem to keep much food down. She goes to see the doctor about it. She finds out she has a bad case of the flu. She goes to the pharmacy and buys the medicine the doctor recommends for this sort of thing, some Gaterade, a few cans of soup, and some kleenex. When she finishes, paying for her purchases, she heads on home. She takes the medicine, drinks some water, then Gaterade. She lays down and falls asleep soon afterwards.
Meanwhile, Kevin fears something dreadful must have become of the girl he writes too. Why else has she not given a response yet to the second letter. Then, he again, he did tell her not to rush. He smiles as he thinks, perhaps, she is unsure how to reply to this one just yet. He tries not to daydream about her to much as he works.
