The Culprit
CHAPTER 19
" But, how can you say if the murderer was right-handed or left-handed?", Jaydeep questioned.
"If you see the photos in FIR, the deep cut (throat) started from the left and became shallow as the cut moved to the right. By this, we can say that the murderer is left-handed. Moreover, if we see the direction in which the blood spilled on the ground in the field, we can easily say the person is left-handed." I concluded.
Jayadeep was finally convinced.
"We want you to experiment with your fellow police. We assure you to investigate more on those four suspects too, "Arvind said.
He abruptly agreed to be available at the spot the next day at 6:30 AM.

ARVIND POV:
We asked Jaydeep to get ten volunteers with different heights and requested them for a straight run in a 20 feet distance as per the tape measurement. We asked the volunteers to wear a pedometer during the race.
"Please record each volunteer height and number of steps each volunteer took for a straight run of 20 feet."
"To get the ratio of each volunteer step length to height ratio and average all the ratios of all volunteers," we detailed.
Why are you asking us to do this? What is the use of this?" Jaydeep inquired
"When we divide volunteers' step lengths by their heights, we would get a ratio value close to 0.4. We can roughly estimate the height of the murderer based on this calculation. Please believe us, and we can find the murderer", I explained to him the total calculation.
"In this activity, we will be able to find this hypothesis to be pretty accurate. On average, adults have a step length of about 2.2 to 2.5 feet."
"In general, if you divide a person's step length by their height, we get a value of about 0.4 (with a range from about 0.41 to 0.45).
In doing the calculation as per our scientific approach on 20 volunteers, as we estimated, we got a value of around 0.43 by averaging the volunteers step length to height ratio.
That is why we can take a person's step length and divide it by about 0.43 to roughly estimate their height-the estimated height would likely be within two inches of (and probably much closer to) their actual height.
So, by this experiment, we can know the murderer's height by using his footsteps length in the sunflower field while chasing to kill."
His jaw dropped in an instant and said, "Wow! What use of science!! You guys have a mastermind". He couldn't stop appreciating us.
Jaydeep ordered one of his constables to measure the foot length of the murderer at the murder spot. He rushed and brought the details within 20 minutes from the murder spot.
By using this calculation, we came to know that the murderer would be of height ranging from 5.8 to 5.10 inches.
"To prove this point, I would like to add one more thing.there is a horizontal cut at the throat that means he is also having an approximate height of Subash who is having a height of 5.10."
"The person with a height of 5.8 and below cannot cut-throat horizontally as they are lesser in stature than him. If they try, then the knife would cross from down to up from the throat.
Similarly, if the person who is more than 5.10 tried to kill Subash, then the sword would go from up to down from the throat.
So, by these two things, we can conclude that the murderer's height would be around 5.8 to 5.10."
"Please let me know how many are there in the height range of 5.8 to 5.10 in those four left-handed suspects?"I asked Jayadeep.
Out of the four suspects, it was found that two of them were between 5.8 to 5.10 height.
"Oh, great! Now the murderer for sure would be out of these two. But how to find out who is the one?" asked Jaydeep.
"Simple, the eyewitness must have been bribed or threatened to accuse. So, show your police-style to him. No more choice left to filter out of these two."
"you beat him for knowing the culprit name without saying him how you come to know his false accusing .there is a possibility the eye witness may bluff us by saying some other name to save the main culprit.so, beat him till he says one of the names in those two suspects."
Jaydeep ordered the two suspects to sit in one room.
He called the eyewitness to come to the station and started to interrogate him in police-style. In half an hour, jaydeep came out from the room and said that the witness told one name out of those two suspects who committed the murder.
Now, Jaydeep ordered one of his guys to give the suspect a third-degree treatment. He finally revealed a name that is none other than Lalitha didi's husband's business partner.
Police took the guy named Chandra (Business partner) into custody. He was crying out loud in anger that he would see our end.
Jaydeep said sternly to Chandra, "Firstly, You should come out of jail to see their end. I'll promise you to be in jail for at least ten years," saying so, he dragged him to lock up.
