Father

Arvind POV:

"He is an HIV affected person" he disclosed.

I was stuck by his words.....
"Mr... Mr.... " he shook my hand.... I came to reality.

"Yes... He is affected by HIV" he confirmed.
"He is coming to me since 21 yrs"
"Sir.... Can I ask U one thing" I projected my doubt.
"Ya... Ask me" he said
"Sir... How did he get this disease? He is a very nice and well mannered man" I said doubtfully

"Ho... No he is such a good man" doctor said with great confidence

"He got this disease after his marriage" I was petrified and didn't utter a word.

"Sir... I couldn't understand what you said" I was trembling..
"Yes... He got HIV from his wife" he confirmed "she had it before marriage"

I couldn't digest the fact. My thoughts troubled me. I was speechless, but I want to clarify everything...

"Sir...  It is possible for a HIV victim to survive for these many years" I asked

"No. Not for everyone. They should have a lot of will power and hope on their life"

"And should have exact diet and proper use of medication. Which your father-in-law (Twin's dad)followed all these years" he explained

"He is HIV patient not AIDS patient" he said.

What... What is he saying what is the difference?. I looked at him shocked.

"If the HIV virus in body increases rapidly it results to AIDS" "with HIV the person can survive for many years but AIDS is the last stage of HIV infection".
"Patient will have HIV without developing AIDS, and many people live for many years with HIV without ever developing AIDS. But if he/she have AIDS, he/she have to have HIV."

"Sir. One more thing, I didn't know whether I can ask or not but....." I was hesitant.
"No problem U can clarify all your doubts" he was generous at me.

"If she is HIV before marriage. How come her daughters not affected by it" my mind pushed me to ask.

"Hmmm.. I got ur question. She knows she is HIV affected during pregnancy blood tests. So she took medication"

"Sciences say.... All pregnant women with HIV should take HIV medicines during pregnancy to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV. (Mother-to-child transmission of HIV is also called perinatal transmission of HIV.) HIV medicines work by preventing HIV from multiplying, which reduces the amount of HIV in the body (also called the viral load). A low viral load during pregnancy reduces the chances that any HIV will pass from mother to child during pregnancy and childbirth. Having less HIV in the body also helps keep the mother-to-be healthy."

"after her delivery, your father in law came to know about it. He consulted me for primary check up".

" He came to know he also was affected and moved away from her".

"He took a great care of his health all these years. Which is why he survived many years" he disclosed.

"Sir... We went to his house, but they said he vacated. Do u know where is he staying?" I was ashamed by my question.

"Ya. He needs medical assistance and moral support at this time. So he is staying in a special ward in my personal clinic" he said.

I asked him his clinic details, and thanked him for his help and came out.
How should I tell Navya about her parents. I thought something would have happened, but here it is something else..... But these sisters should know about their father.... I went to pick her and take her to her dad.

........................................................................

"Where are we going... Tell me know" she is blabbering from my back... As we were walking into the hospital.

"We came to meet someone very important. U also know that person" I replied softly.
"Mrudhula sister is fine know" she asked stopping me...

"She is absolutely fine. Wait and see" I said as we reached the special ward.
"You wait here. Don't come inside until I ask U" I almost ordered her.

"Then y did U bring me, rather I will be at home" she was disappointed

"See dear... I want u to be here please" I requested. She nodded her head as a small baby and kept quiet.

I apologized her in silence. But I have no choice than bring here at let her know what happened b/w her parents, directly from her father.

"Sir... May I come in" I asked as I entered the room.
He was lying on the bed and reading some magazine. He looked so weak and dull. That room looked like a mini hotel room where almost all basic requirements were there.

"Yes. Come in" he said looking at me as a sign of doubt.
"Sir. I'm Arvind...." I introduced myself

"Who are U?... I haven't met U before" he was puzzled.

"I'm.... I'm.... Navya's boyfriend" I replied.
"What?... What are speaking?" He was shocked.

"Yes. Sir. We are in love with each other and wanted to get married" I said confidently.

"Then go get married... Y are U here... Do you think you need my permission? Did she ask you to meet me?" He was angry.

"No sir.... But I wanted to meet U and speak regarding few things" I was doubtful.
"About what? " he asked looking info my eyes.

"Sir..... It is about ur health" I was hesitant.

He didn't utter a word. Even I was silent and don't know how to start. Silence travelled for few seconds....

"How come you know about it" he was guilt. He couldn't see my face..

"Uncle I and Navya were searching for U since couple of days. We went to ur house and bank but couldn't meet U... She got tensed so I said I'll find U out and then she can come. In this search I came to know about ur health... So I came here alone to meet U and ask what exactly happened...." I showered concern on both father and daughter.

"Ho... It is? Are my daughter's willing to see me? " his eyes got wet.

"Uncle please. Let me know what exactly happened." I almost begged him.

"What can I say? Where should I start? Already my life story came to an end....

I sensed how hopeless is he in that stage of life.

...........................

Hope you liked it.
