TAEHYUNG POV
My playful smirk widened into a devilish grin as I dialed the number on my phone. My mind had a mischievous idea, one that would surely surprise Miss Bold.
"Hey, it's me, Kim Taehyung. I'll send you the location of a building, I need you to get the papers ready for the purchase." he spoke into the phone, his voice filled with excitement.
As I hung up, a sense of anticipation filled me. I don't know why but I couldn't wait to see Y/n's reaction when she found out that her joke wasn't just joke to me and I will seriously buying the whole ass building.
With a confident stride, I made my way out of the elevator and finally to my BMW. I had some paperwork to finalize and then it would be official—Me as Y/n's new landlord.
This was going to be interesting, to say the least. Well cause I am being to excited and couldn't wait to see how Y/n would react to this news.
Returning back to the place, the mansion that's all home. A place which is just a building made of bricks and glass. Nothing else, I don't know where my workaholic brother is he had just called me to lecture me about my behavior of leaving the so-called lunch meeting with our father.
But surely his lecture didn't affect cause my day went much better, rather than pretending responsible and to be CEO and the heir of THE KIMS.
"Master, the food is served," Mrs. Ian had announced earlier, her gentle voice a familiar presence in the otherwise empty house.
I nodded in acknowledgment and made my way to my room to change into something comfortable. Despite the luxurious surroundings, the emptiness of the house weighs on me. It was moments like these that made me acutely aware of the void left by my mother's absence.
I headed downstairs and sat at the dining table, the silence of the house enveloping me like a heavy blanket. The butler and maids had served me dinner in a quiet efficiency, bowing their heads respectfully as they retreated to their quarters after ensuring everything was in order. Only Mrs. Ian, the eldest among them, lingered.
Returning to the dining area, I sat down to eat in silence, the clinking of cutlery against porcelain the only sound accompanying me with my meal. Mrs. Ian remained standing nearby, her watchful eyes observing me. I have known her since I was born here in this family.
She is the most loyal person here, after my hyung the only person I am close is her.
"Please, Mrs. Ian, there's no need for you to wait for me," I said softly after noticing her lingering presence. Picking up my cutlery I started to munch on the food, no doubt I was hungry cause a cup of coffee won't had satisfied my hunger.
Mrs. Ian smiled gently, a warmth in her eyes that I had come to appreciate over the years. "It's alright, Master. I'll wait for you," she replied with a reassuring smile.
She has always waited as she said. Never left my side since I was a 10-year-old who had lost him mother and wanted to lock himself from the whole word, who pushed everyone out of his life. But she never left me in that darkness.
I couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. Mrs. Ian had been a constant source of support and care, especially after my mother's passing. She had become a grandmother figure to me, always looking out for my well-being even when I had tried all my best to distance himself from everyone, drowning his pain in alcohol as soon as I turned into an adult. It became my addiction. My only way to stay sane and forget my past.
Mrs. Ian never gave up on me. She understood the pain I carried and offered silent support in her own gentle way, especially after the breakup with Ji-eun.
As I noticed her smile, I couldn't help but ask, "What's funny, Mrs. Ian?"
She approached me and placed a hand on my shoulder. "It's just nice to see you not touching a single bottle of alcohol, even though your cupboard is filled with it."
I looked at her with my emotionless face.
As Mrs. Ian gathered the empty dishes and patted my head affectionately, I couldn't shake off the thoughts swirling in my mind. What is happening to me? Why had I suddenly found the strength to resist my vices, especially after meeting someone like Y/n?
Lost in my thoughts, I remained seated at the dining table long after Mrs. Ian had left to attend to her duties. Seriously I couldn't deny the impact she had on me, even if our interactions had been filled with banter and animosity.
What all I did was with a sigh, pushed my thoughts aside for the moment, deciding to focus on the present.
AUTHORS POV
The night stretched on in Jimin's quiet house, the only sound being the soft hum of the air conditioner. Jimin sat in his study, the glow of his laptop illuminating his concerned expression as he reviewed the reports about Y/n's health. His heart sank as he read the words detailing her worsening condition due to an untreated brain tumor.
After a long moment of contemplation, Jimin decided to reach out to Y/n. He picked up his phone and dialed her number, only to be met with the automated message that her phone was switched off. Frowning, he sent her a text, requesting her presence at his clinic the next day.
As he set his phone down, Jimin's gaze drifted to a picture frame on his desk. It held a photo of Mia, her bright smile frozen in time. Jimin picked up the frame, tracing the outline of her face with a gentle touch. Memories flooded his mind, memories of happier times before their took her away from him, before he even could confess.
A tear slipped from Jimin's eye, his emotions raw as he hugged the picture close to his chest. "I miss you, Mia," he whispered, his voice barely above a whisper. He lay back on the couch, holding onto the picture as if it were a lifeline.
---
Jimin entered the convenience store for what seemed like the umpteenth time that day. It had become somewhat of a routine for him to make frequent visits, and each time, his eyes would inevitably find their way to the cashier girl.
She smiled warmly as he walked in, a gesture that never failed to lift his spirits. Jimin returned the smile with a polite bow before taking a leisurely stroll around the store. His eyes scanned the shelves, picking up a few items here and there—three beers and a handful of snacks.
Despite being busy with her work at the counter, Jimin couldn't help but steal glances in her direction. There was something about her that captivated him, something beyond the ordinary. Her uniform and messy ponytail did nothing to diminish her natural beauty.
As Jimin approached the counter to pay, she got up gracefully, her sweet voice breaking the silence of the store. "7000 won," she said, her tone soft and pleasant.
Jimin paid with his card, but his attention remained fixed on her. There was a momentary pause before she spoke again, catching him off guard. "Minors shouldn't drink beer," she remarked casually, her eyes twinkling with amusement.
Jimin's heart skipped a beat at her words. It was the first time she had spoken directly to him, and he couldn't help but feel a flutter of excitement. "Ah, right. I'll keep that in mind," he replied with a sheepish grin, feeling slightly embarrassed at being caught in the act.
She handed him the carry bag, their fingers brushing briefly, and Jimin couldn't help but slightly blush at her words, which was now visible on his face, he lowered his head not to make it obvious.
Jimin turned to leave, he couldn't shake off the warmth that had settled in his chest, that he finally managed to get her attention after finally 24 days from his first visit. There was something about her, something that made him want to visit the convenience store more often than necessary, just to catch another glimpse of her smile and hear her sweet voice once again.
---
In that moment of quiet solitude, Jimin's thoughts drifted to Y/n and her own health struggles. He couldn't bear the thought of losing another person he cared about and has promised to protect at any cost, especially knowing that Y/n's condition was deteriorating because she wasn't taking the necessary steps for treatment.
With a heavy heart, Jimin closed his eyes, hoping and praying that Y/n would heed his message and come to see him at the clinic. He couldn't shake off the sense of urgency and concern that weighed heavily on him, knowing that time was of the essence when it came to matters of health.
Y/n's morning started with the usual routine—getting up, doing her chores, and preparing for the day ahead. As she went about her morning, the excitement of meeting the twins at the orphan center later that day filled her with anticipation. She had promised them a day of fun and adventure, and she couldn't wait to see their smiles.
Before she could immerse herself in the joy of spending time with Ren and Jia, she had to attend to her part-time job. As she stepped outside, her eyes caught sight of Mr. Min and several people moving their belongings out of the apartment building. Confusion creased her brow as she approached him.
"Mr. Min, are you moving out?" she inquired, her tone filled with curiosity.
To her surprise, Mr. Min smiled—a rare occurrence in their interactions. "Yes, I am shifting to my Son's house in Daegu cause someone else is the owner now. Finally." He breathe out.
Y/n's eyebrows shot up in confusion. "You sold the building?"
Mr. Min nodded. "Yes, to your boyfriend."
Y/n stood there in shock, her eyes wide and mouth agape as Mr. Min confirmed her suspicions. Taehyung had indeed bought the entire building. She couldn't believe it. The joke she made about him buying the building had become a reality, and now she was faced with the realization that KIM JERK, out of all people, was now her landlord.
Trying to compose herself, Y/n managed to mutter, "My... boyfriend?"
Mr. Min chuckled at her bewildered expression. "Yes, your boyfriend. Kim Taehyung. He finalized the purchase yesterday."
Her hand instinctively flew to her face, palm meeting forehead in a gesture of disbelief. "Of course he did," she muttered to herself, a mixture of exasperation and amusement coloring her tone.
Mr. Min chuckled at her reaction. "Seems like your boyfriend is quite serious about you."
Y/n watched as Mr. Min and the others continued moving out. Her mind was racing with thoughts of what this new development meant for her. On one hand, having Taehyung as her landlord!!!!!
Y/n sighed, realizing that her interactions with Taehyung were becoming increasingly complicated. She couldn't deny the fact that his actions, though unexpected and sometimes infuriating, also hinted at a deeper interest in her well-being.
Everything was in confusion and surprise for her when--
Y/n's world spun with agony as she grappled with the sudden and excruciating pain in her head. The silent, cutting voice in her brain felt like knives digging into her skull, leaving her gasping and clutching her head in agony. Her eardrums throbbed, and a sharp groan escaped her lips as she struggled to stay conscious.
The pain intensified, and she felt warm blood trickling down from her nose, staining her fingers and the cold tiles beneath her. Her vision blurred, darkness creeping in from the edges as she fought against the overwhelming agony.
A voice, distant yet urgent, called out to her, filled with fear, worry, and concern. It pierced through the haze of pain, urging her to open her eyes. "Y/n, please open your eyes! Someone help!" The voice laced with fear, the concern palpable the tone as the person rushed towards her, picking her in their arms scooping her up gently.
The person patted her cheek, trying to coax her into consciousness. "Stay with me, y/n. Marcus, call the ambulance! Right now!" The urgency in the persons voice was evident as they tried to keep her awake, but just the words echoing in her fading awareness.
Y/n's eyelids felt heavy as darkness threatened to consume her completely. The pain, the blood, the voices—all merged into a cacophony of sensations as she struggled to hold on, to fight against the encroaching darkness that threatened to claim her consciousness. Her body felt limp in the persons arms, her breathing shallow and labored.
As Marcus dialed for help, the sound of sirens in the distance offered a glimmer of hope amidst the chaos. Y/n's world flickered between light and dark, her consciousness teetering on the edge as she clung to life, hoping for rescue, for relief from the unbearable pain that consumed her.
---
Y/n's consciousness flickered back to life, her eyelids heavy as she struggled to make sense of her surroundings. The sterile scent of a hospital room filled her senses, and the rhythmic beeping of the heartbeat monitor echoed in her ears.
Slowly, she opened her eyes, squinting against the harsh brightness of the white ceiling. Tubes connected to her arm caught her attention, and she followed them with her gaze, tracing their path until they disappeared into the medical equipment surrounding her.
A rush of panic threatened to engulf her as she tried to piece together what had happened. Why was she in a hospital room? What had caused her to lose consciousness? The memories of the sudden, excruciating pain in her head and the blood dripping from her nose flooded back, sending shivers down her spine.
As her vision cleared a little more, she saw a familiar figure sitting by the couch in the room. It was IU, her best friend, her presence a comforting sight amidst the confusion and fear swirling within Y/n.
"IU," Y/n croaked, her voice hoarse and weak.
Ji-eun's head snapped up at the sound of her friend's voice, concern etched on her face. "Y/n, you're awake," Ji-eun exclaimed, relief evident in her tone as she rushed to Y/n's bedside.
Y/n managed a faint nod, her strength waning as she struggled to stay conscious. "What happened? Why am I here?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
IU's expression softened with sympathy as she explained, "You had a sudden collapse at there entrance of your home. I..I had came to apologize to you for the day bragging into your apartment drunk, and this happened and in a blink of an eye I asked Marcus(Her bodyguard) to call for help. We brought you here to the hospital where Jimin called us for the treatment."
Y/n's mind raced with questions, her memories still fragmented and hazy. "But why... why did I collapse?" she mumbled, her words slurring slightly as fatigue weighed heavily on her.
IU reached out, grasping Y/n's hand gently. "The Jimin & doctors are still running tests to find out the cause that's what he said. You need to rest now, okay? Don't worry, I'll be here with you."
Y/n nodded weakly she had an slight idea maybe it was because of her tumor start to threat her life , her eyelids drooping with exhaustion.
But Y/n's heart raced with panic as she struggled to make sense of the situation. And that she destroyed the day of their fun thinking about them waiting for her asking Mrs. Kate about her.
"Did you inform the twins?" she asked urgently, her voice tinged with worry.
Ji-eun's expression softened, but she shook her head gently. "No, I wanted to make sure you were stable first before telling them. They'll be worried, but right now, your health is the priority."
Y/n's mind raced with thoughts of Ren and Jia, her nephew and niece whom she loved dearly. "No don't please, they don't need to know," she insisted, trying to sit up despite the weakness in her body.
IU gently pushed her back down, her voice firm but gentle. "Okay Okay I won't , but Y/n, you need to focus on resting and recovering. I'll take care of the twins. Jimin will be here with your reports within sometime so take rest."
Tears welled up in Y/n's eyes as she nodded reluctantly, knowing that she was right. "Please, tell them I'm okay. I don't want them to worry," she whispered, her voice filled with emotion.
IU squeezed her hand reassuringly. "I promise, I won't tell them a word. Just focus on getting better. I am all here for you. And Jungkook said he is on his way."
Y/n nodded, a sense of relief washing over her despite the lingering worry for Ren and Jia. With IU by her side, she closed her eyes, allowing herself to drift into a much-needed sleep, trusting With her best friends comforting presence beside her, Y/n surrendered to the embrace of sleep, hoping that when she woke again, she would have answers to the questions haunting her mind.
