[3rd Person POV]

About two weeks have passed since (Y/n) had defeated Rumi in class, and had also somehow managed to gather the attention of the one and only, Kayama. In the time that passed, every day seemed to be the same. Well, in the groundwork, it was. But there were certain things that were different. Mainly with the attention he received from the aforementioned too. Beforehand, no such things would take place at all between the trio. For one, (Y/n) wasn't even in the same class as them.

But now, despite being in different classes, it seemed highly unlikely to go a day without having some interaction with the two girls. For Rumi, it would normally come in the form of a sharp glare, or a narrowed glare, a sideways glare, a glare of all shapes and sizes, a sleazy glare, an annoyed glare, an infatuated glare. The point is, glares were a dime a dozen for Rumi, especially involving (Y/n). But whereas Rumi seemed to be vague with her 'advances' leaving (Y/n) confused. Kayama seemed more affectionate.

There were two forms of which (Y/n) came to notice. It would either be simple, a smile and a wave as they walked passed each other, or it'd come in the form of a sudden hug, one which gave off a feeling of her body against his own. That one would often be in a scene where plenty other people could see. But (Y/n) would simply laugh it off before the pair eventually went on their way. However, whereas (Y/n) would play them off and then walk away, Kayama would often find her gaze lingering on the young boy.

It was weird. Normally she was in the position of (Y/n). Simply walking off without looking behind her shoulder, despite all the attention being on her. Yet for (Y/n) (L/n), he seemed not to waver one bit by the attention and simply continued on with his day. It was that one thing that made Kayama infatuated with the young boy. Something she found herself doing a whole lot in recent days. It had been like that ever since (Y/n) said those words to her. The very words she hadn't been able to clear from her mind since she first heard them.

"You look really nice."

He had complimented her looks. Now, sure, this was something Kayama got all the time. But most of those times came out of an enter different regard, especially from boys. But when (Y/n) said it, she felt something inside. Not once did she get a hint of an alter motive, or lack of genuineness in any of his words. The way (Y/n) said it to her, she knew it was one hundred per cent from the heart. That very idea was enough to keep such a moment locked in the young girls head, constantly coming to her thoughts. Such as this very moment.

Kayama, seated at her desk in class, waiting for it to begin, found herself resting her chin on a closed fist as she waywardly looked into the distance and thought over (Y/n)'s words directed at her once more. She couldn't help but smile. Someone who could help it, however, was Rumi. The young girl with prodding rabbit hearts and flowing white hair could also be seen in the same class as Kayama. Though, whereas the raven-haired beauty was lost in thoughts that brought about smiles, all Rumi could do was grind her face in frustration as she repeatedly doodled in her notebook.

The thing she was doodling, however, was none other than a picture of (Y/n) (L/n). The boy who had made her look like a total fool in front of all the class. Somehow, someway, he had managed to beat her in combat. It was the very thing Rumi excelled in. She had beaten him countless times before, yet, somehow, he had overcome her every move to win. It pained her every time she thought back on losing to (Y/n). The way he chuckled whilst taking in his victory. The smile he offered to the crowd.

The stupid way his hair would compliment the rest of his face at a time like it...It made Rumi sick! So much so she instantly scrunched up the drawing of (Y/n)'s face and ripped it from her notebook. Seconds later she launched it through the air, before it effortlessly landed in the trash in the corner of the room.

Rumi: [Mutters] "Stupid (Y/n). You think you're so cool because you beat me. Argh! I hate that you did it!"

She grumbled and whined silently. She hated defeat, but she hated it if people saw her be so overcome by such a thing. Yet, no matter what she tried she couldn't get (Y/n) out of her mind. So much so that she thought about punching her head clean off, if only to make the thoughts of this random boy stop intruding into her mind. However, just as she was coming to terms with this outcome, her attention was directed to a few seats ahead of her.

Yu Takeyama (Mt Lady): "I mean, there are a few hotties around. That Enji guy isn't too bad to look at."

Uwabami (Uwabami): "Oooh, girl~ I didn't know you were into the big muscley guys."

Takeyama: "Hehe~ What can I say? I have a type."

The group of girls who Rumi constantly saw hanging around one another laughing and giggling was another thing that annoyed her. She just wanted to punch their smiles in and stop the irritating laughter once and for all. But most of the time she got the urge whenever they spoke about such a topic...Boys. Just seeing the way they had gooey eyes for guys was ridiculous to Rumi. What even was the point to have a boyfriend? It's not like they could do anything she couldn't. And if they could, it'd probably be something stupid. Boys are stupid. That's what Rumi thought.

Ryuko Tatsuma (Ryukyu): "What about you, Kayama? Got any cute boys on your mind?"

Kayama: "Hmm?"

Uwabami: "You know. Hehe~ Now that you mention it, I have noticed you seeming to be stuck in the clouds lately. Do you--" [Gasp] "Do you have a crush on someone?"

Takeyama: [Squeals] "AAAHHH!!! Tell me! Tell me! Tell me!"

Yep. Girls with crushes were definitely stupid. And surprise, surprise. Nemuri Kayama had a crush. The girl who always got stared at by all the boys.

Rumi: [Mumbles] "Wow. Who could she be into?"

She mumbled to herself, going back to drawing another picture of (Y/n) as she continued.

Rumi: "Let me guess. Probably some stupid, low-IQ, dimwitted, good-for-nothing loser like--

Ryuko: "Is it (Y/n)?"

Rumi: "Wait. What?"

As soon as that name entered the air, Rumi's ears perked up, soon followed by her gaze. Instantly her eyes were directed over to the group of girls, but mainly Kayama, who could now be seen holding a red tint across her face.

Kayama: "(Y-Y/n)? What-What do you mean?"

Ryuko: "I mean~ Do you have a crush on (Y/n)?"

Uwabami: "It would make sense. I mean, you do seem to always be saying hello to him lately."

Ryuko: "Yeah. You never did that before."

Takeyama: "Oh my gosh! You totally have a crush on him?"

Rumi: [Thoughts] "She has a crush on him?"

Rumi couldn't believe it. Immediately everything else in her mind was taken out and replaced with this one scene. She could feel her jaw slowly dropping. Once she caught a hint of it she quickly picked it back up. She was shocked, or annoyed, she was just surprised that the name of someone she knew--Let alone didn't like, was brought up is all. Yet, for reasons unknown, she found it impossible to turn her gaze away.

Takeyama: "Oooh! Please tell me you have a crush on him. You both would look so cute together!"

Ryuko: "Now that you mention it, Yu. I do see it."

Uwabami: "Indeed. It is quite hard to miss."

No, it wasn't. It was easy to miss. Very easy to miss. Rumi had never thought someone like Kayama would even go for a guy like (Y/n). SINCE WHEN DID SHE EVEN KNOW HIM...And why could Rumi feel herself getting worked up just thinking all of this?

Kayama: [Smiles and chuckles] "Guys. Guys. You're being ridiculous. I don't have a crush on, (Y/n). We're just friends."

A silent sigh escaped Rumi's lips. Of course, someone like Kayama didn't have a crush on (Y/n). She was too stuck up to even look at guys like him. T-That was if Rumi even cared about all this. She didn't. This was stupid. Love was stupid. She was just about to block all such thoughts from her head and return to holding her annoyed grudge to (Y/n) when out of nowhere a bomb went off inside her head.

Kayama: "Though...He is kinda cute."

As soon as Kayama said that her friends when off with cheers and squeals. Constant questions revolving around the topic were now all that could be heard. Despite not saying it, Kayama's simple sentence was enough to prove that she did indeed have a crush on (Y/n). But whereas Kayama and her friends celebrated the elusive news, a few seats behind an angry look that continued to build on Rumi's face was all that could be seen.

Her hand applied more pressure to the pencil in her hand as she watched Kayama smile and laugh like what she just said was nothing. IT WASN'T NOTHING! So much so that Rumi now had a new topic glued to her mind. For the rest of that period, Rumi could only glare at Kayama whilst thinking about what she heard. How could she have a crush on (Y/n)? (Y/n) was...(Y/n)! He was a no one who made Rumi look like an idiot to not only her class, but the other hero class as well.

And now she found out some girl had a crush on him! This was rediculous! Her life was turning completely upside down. Not only did she get defeated in combat, but now a popular girl had a crush on the very guy who made her look like a fool. Nothing made sense! Now Rumi found herself seated in the school cafeteria munching on a sandwich as she sent her glare across the room, aimed directly on an unsuspecting (Y/n) who laughed and spoke with his friends as he ate his lunch. IT WAS SO STUPID!

Rumi: "Look at him. He's a no one. Why would she like him? There's nothing special about him. He's a no one."

She begrudged to herself. Yet, the one thing she couldn't help but notice was the very thing she was currently doing. A time she normally spent revising on her studies was now being spent staring at a boy who didn't even know he was being stared at. Yet, here she was, a girl who previously took such a situation as being beneath her. It made Rumi question multiple reasons as to why she was doing such a thing. Some people would say it was maybe out of jealousy that (Y/n) was getting so much attention.

Some more people may come up with the ridiculously stupid idea that she had a crush on (Y/n) herself, and having heard that some other girl she possibly felt threatened by felt the same only drove her to put out her frustrations on glaring at (Y/n). But those people would be stupid. Rumi didn't like (Y/n). She hated him. It was because of him that she couldn't think straight, she couldn't eat her lunch right, she couldn't even close her eyes without thinking about him. It was stupid, he was stupid, and she knew...So why couldn't she stop staring at him. For a brief period, Rumi's facial expression softened, her gaze loosening.

For a moment she pondered whether or not those intrusive thoughts may be for real. After all, it wasn't like (Y/n) was ugly. He wasn't. He was well-built. Though, most boys in the hero course were. He kept his appearance up to good standard. A person could always appreciate that. And the cute way he'd flick his hair whenever it ventured onto his face just made Rumi's heart flutter seeing it every single ti--She hated (Y/n). She hated him so much. But now she hated him even more! And all because his stupid face was making her mind think of stupid things like how she thought he was good-looking. But that was stupid!

It was by this point that Rumi's frustrations with (Y/n) had reached their max. Instantly she jumped to her feet, making sure to slam her tray onto the table and quickly went off to storm toward (Y/n)'s table. Her eyes never once loosening from the glare she had perfected. Her eyes were glued to her target. The young boy not knowing one single bit what was coming his way. There (Y/n) was, as defenceless as a gazelle. Laughing with his friends as he ate his french fries. He was about to partake in another when out of nowhere a wayward hand grabbed onto the back of his uniform and suddenly pulled him to his feet.

The young boy's eyes opened wide as his friends watched him being pulled away. It wasn't until (Y/n)'s feet managed to gather themselves that the young boy was finally able to look over his shoulder to see Rumi was the cause for the sudden action. It was by this point that he had been pulled a good twenty meters away.

(Y/n): "Uh, um, Rumi? Hey? Uh, any reason as to--"

Rumi: "Don't talk."

(Y/n): "Uh, alright? I get that, I guess...But would you mind quickly--"

Rumi: "Don't talk."

Again she just silenced him like what she was currently doing was nothing. It left (Y/n) confused, leaving him to offer such a glance in the direction of his friends, who just watched the moment play out from the table.

Aizawa: [Tiredly] "...Should we help him?"

Hizashi: "Help him? With what? He's getting pulled by a girl."

Aizawa: "That's exactly what I'm talking about."

The young boy with bags under his eyes silently said as he turned to his friend. Before either one could say a thing, Toshinori, who had previously been seated on the opposite side of the table, suddenly appeared behind the pair and pulled them into an embrace.

Toshinori: "I think you both are clearly missing the picture here. (Y/n) has been pulled away because Rumi clearly is about to confess her feelings." [Sighs] "Love certainly is beautiful. Right, Enji?"

The bright smile he had on display instantly turns to Enji. The redhead brute previously sat in silence, questioning as to why he was even eating lunch with these people. Upon hearing his name called he slowly lifted his head and looked out into he distance. A blank expression on his face as he replied.

Enji: "Love is nothing more than a lie told to us by our parents when we were young. A mere barricade to protect us from the harm this world can really cause us. But in the end, it does nothing to stop the teeth of this violent race from digging into our flesh and bone. All the while leaving the question...What is love...And what is life..."

A brief moment of silence followed as Toshinori, Hizashi, and Aizawa turned to look at their friend. As for Enji, he ignores such and returns to eating his salad. This time, however, he speaks normally.

Enji: "Besides, I don't think Rumi is going to confess. If you ask me, I think she's going to punch (Y/n) in the face for beating her in class."

Another moment of silence followed as the group processed what had just been said. Upon realizing how true such an outcome could be, no time was wasted as the trio of Toshinori, Aizawa, and Hizashi raced off to save their friend. Such caused Enji to be left behind, something he preferred. That was until Toshinori suddenly returned to pull the redhead along for the ride. Meanwhile, back with (Y/n), he had pretty much given up on trying to ask why he was being dragged across the cafeteria, eventually coming to terms with it and waiting for some outcome to show itself.

As for Rumi, herself, as she continued to drag the boy, her mind continued to race. Everything she wanted to say to him. To yell at him. It all ran through her mind. She couldn't wait to finally let out all her frustrations. Then, and only then, would she be able to knock the thoughts of the boy out of her head and finally return to a normal life. And the end of it all finally arrived when Rumi arrived at her designated area. An empty table near the back of the room. A place where she couldn't be disturbed as she interrogated (Y/n) like a criminal. After all, he practically was one. He took her concentration with a second thought. He needed to pay.

By the time they reached the table, Rumi instantly spun (Y/n) around and shoved him to one side. One he landed on the seat, Rumi took the one opposite him. However, just as the words she had previously been storing up inside were about to come out...They stopped. All it took was a single moment of eye contact between the pair for Rumi's brain to take a similar form it had repeatedly done in recent days. Her mind, once a strong weapon, almost as strong as her incredible biceps, was now blank. The only thing on her mind was the boy in front of her. But instead of yelling at him, or calling him stupid, the only noise she could muster was--

Rumi: "Uuuhhh...."

(Y/n): "Uuuhhh...?"

An even more confused expression dawned on (Y/n)'s face. The sudden shift in the facial features Rumi had previously been admir--previously been annoyed by, was all it took to snap her back to reality. A shake of her head later and she was back in control of her mind, and her words, kinda...

Rumi: "Y-You...You..."

(Y/n): "Me?"

Rumi: "Yes! You! Argh! Just...Just be quiet for a moment!" [Thoughts] "Come on, Rumi. Concentrate. Don't let his stupid good looks confus--" [Out Loud] "Argh! I hate this!"

(Y/n): "Um...Rumi? Are you--"

Rumi: "I'm fine! I'm fine, okay? I'm just...Just give me a minute." [Grumbles] "I don't know why this is so hard."

Why was this so hard? I've never had a problem before yelling at people and telling their complaints right to their face. So why when I have to do that very thing to this guy I can't come up with one fucking word. Argh! This is all (Y/n)'s fault. Stupid! That final word was the only thing Rumi could say in her head over and over again. But as time passed by, she knew the word 'stupid' wasn't going to cut it. She needed to get her point across to (Y/n) quick and sharp. Only then could she kill these thoughts of the boy that had been plaguing her mind.

So, realizing what needed to be done. Rumi honed in her mind and kept her tempers low. A deep breath all she needed in the end to gather what she wanted to say. All that was left was to say it...The only problem was that (Y/n) was just so stupid. The way he looked at her in silence, patiently waiting for her to speak like a gentleman! Argh! He should just yell at her to hurry up and speak and stop wasting his time. A real man would do that. Yeah, a real man... That's what Rumi was into. A man who solved his problems by punching them in the face.

Not some pretty boy who makes jokes when fighting and chooses to 'think' before acting. There was no way Rumi could be into someone like that. Heck, why was she even thinking about something like that right now. She didn't like (Y/n). She hated him! Eventually, Rumi managed to gather herself. This was it. Finally, she'd tell (Y/n) what she wanted to tell him this whole time. And after he heard this, he'd know his place and stop being the only thought in her mind. There was no way this couldn't work...

Rumi: "Do you want to study with me sometime?

Shit! It didn't work. Rumi didn't know why it didn't work. She had all the words planned, yet when she opened her mouth to say something, her stupid eyes looked into his deep (E/c) ones and all thoughts were lost. Thankfully her quick thinking brought up the opportunity of studying as a means to give her some time to catch her thoughts and deliver her frustrations to the boy then. She just needed him to agree to this. Though, his stupid confusion was starting to have its effects on the young girl.

(Y/n): "Y-You want to study with him?"

Rumi: [Thoughts] "No. Idiot. I wanna yell at you! But I can't..." [Sighs] "Yeah. Sure. If you want..."

(Y/n): [Chuckles softly] "Damn. Wow..."

Rumi: "Wow?"

(Y/n): "Oh? Uh, nothing! I-It's just...When you were dragging me away, I actually thought you were gonna punch me for some reason?"

Rumi: [Thoughts] "That was plan B. But just like Plan A, it didn't work for shit."

Of course, Rumi couldn't even say those words to (Y/n). Before anything else could come out, (Y/n) laughed once more. Such a sound led Rumi to glance back at the boy before her. The sight she saw brought time to a halt. There he was, (Y/n) (L/n), a guy she previously had not admiration for whatsoever, who had now become the pinnacle of her mind, was smiling at her. A smile accompanied by a face that shouldn't be making her heart beat faster. Yet, that's all she seemed able to do in the moment.

(Y/n): "Yes."

Rumi: [Shakes Head] "Yes?"

(Y/n): "Yes...T-To studying with you, I mean. Did you, uh...Did you have a time planned?"

No! The only plan she had was to yell at you and then maybe punch you in the face, idiot! Of course, she didn't have a planned time to study!

Rumi: "Does Friday afternoon work for you?"

Shit! Fuck! Rumi was now more annoyed with herself then (Y/n). Why couldn't she just yell at him? I mean, she did that to every other person. Yet, no matter how hard she tried to figure out the answer, she was left with nothing. Well, not exactly nothing. She got (Y/n)'s number. But that was only after the boy offered it to her in order for her to text him when she was ready to meet up with him Friday afternoon.

Rumi still didn't know why she accepted it. But before her brain started working again, (Y/n) had already gotten to his feet and walked away. Leaving Rumi in a confused state, glancing down at the number in hand that was written on a slip of paper. All the while the sound of (Y/n)'s friend eagerly asking their friend if he had been injured in any single way. Something (Y/n) just laughed at.

******

So for the next two days, Rumi was left frustrated with herself for agreeing to meet up with (Y/n) again. However, she kept the self-punishment to a low, as she agreed with herself that this would be the moment to release all her anger onto the boy that had bombarded her mind. At least...That was the original plan. For right now, as Friday Afternoon was in the process, the short girl with rabbit ears found herself silently gazing through a random book as she sat at a table in the school library with (Y/n).

The pair had been studying for a good Thirty minutes now after Rumi had reluctantly inserted (Y/n)'s number into her phone to text him to meet up. Now, she was here, pretending to read through a book as she struggled to speak to him once more. 'Come on. Just say it! Yell at him! Tell him, this is all your fault! That because of him you haven't been able to sleep properly or go about your life. All because you just won't get out of my head!"

Rumi: [Sighs and mutters] "No. That's just stupid."

(Y/n): "What's stupid?"

Instantly Rumi's ears perked up, followed by her head slowly twisting to see (Y/n) was now looking directly at her. All the while smiling at her.

Rumi: [Thoughts] "Great...He's smiling again." [Out Loud] "Uh, nothing!"

A quick smile to satisfy his stupid niceness and Rumi quickly returned her gaze to the book. Something that played a part in hiding the annoyed look on her face.

Rumi: [Thoughts] "Shit. Why can't I think straight?"

A question Rumi hoped the answer for. However, she didn't receive it. In the end, she'd be satisfied for silence. But it seemed (Y/n) had other plans.

(Y/n): "Uh...Thanks for inviting me."

Rumi: [Turns to him] "Huh?"

(Y/n): "For studying, I mean!" [Chuckles nervously] "I-If I'm being honest, I'm a little surprised you even asked me."

Rumi: "You were? Why?"

(Y/n) did not respond straight away. Something Rumi instantly picked up on. Whatever it was that was in his mind it left (Y/n) hesitant...Rumi hated people that couldn't get to the point. But just before she was about to punch (Y/n) for wasting her time, her attention was suddenly peaked as the next words finally left his mouth.

(Y/n): "...I thought you, kinda, hated me..."

Rumi: "What?"

She didn't mean to twist her head so quickly in (Y/n) direction upon hearing such. And she definitely didn't mean to feel so surprised when...He was right. Yet, that's exactly how Rumi found her current position as (Y/n) continued to awkwardly chuckle here and there.

(Y/n): "Uh, yeah..." [Chuckles] "I mean, I wasn't sure. But, I kinda noticed a few times that you were, uh...Staring at me...From across the room. And, uh--"

Rumi: "So you just presumed I hated you?" [Thoughts] "Shit! Am I seriously that readable? Pathetic!"

Unfortunately, (Y/n) saw Rumi's previous statement as her being offended, which quickly scared (Y/n) much more.

(Y/n): "Uh, No! Yes? I-I don't know! I-I just, I mean, I-I heard from people that you weren't really yourself after I, um...You know...Beat you in class."

Rumi's left eye suddenly twitched from the memory.

(Y/n): "A-And I was worried that you hated me. I've never actually had someone hate me before so I worried..." [Sighs and smiles] "So you don't know how happy I was to hear you ask me to come study with you."

As (Y/n)'s sentence came to an end, he just stared and smiled at Rumi. The future Rabbit Hero did her best to smile back, however, it wasn't a genuine smile by any means. Simply a shield to cover her true emotions as she processed his words. He...He thought I hated him? He thought I hated him and now he thinks I don't...? My perfect opportunity to yell at him, to finally give him all the shit he caused him back...Gone. Yeah, well, I'll show you!

Rumi: "(Y/n), I--"

(Y/n): "HaHaHa! What am I talking about?" [Chuckles] "Sorry if I made all this awkward. I, uh, I was just having fun, I-I guess I kinda just...I-I don't know."

Rumi: [Thoughts] "Argh! Can't you just shut up so I can just yell at--Wait...He's having fun?"

The statement alone was enough to through Rumi for another loop. A cloud of silence following shortly after. The small period was spent with Rumi just staring at (Y/n) as the young boy awkwardly faced the book in front of him. Rumi was about to say something when suddenly she was cut off by (Y/n) slamming his book shut before abruptly turning to her.

(Y/n): "Oh! Let's go! Pop quiz!"

Rumi: [Confused] "W-What? Pop quiz?"

(Y/n): "Pop quiz! In what Chinese City did Quirks first appear?"

Rumi: "Um, I--"

(Y/n): "When Quirks were first discovered. What 'bright light' was the obvious reason that something happened?"

Rumi: "Huh? I, uh--"

(Y/n): [Smiles] "Come on, Rumi~ I gave you a hint."

Rumi: "Yeah. No. I heard you, just--"

(Y/n): "A bright light...?"

Rumi: "Right! Bright light! Just, um...Give me a second to--"

(Y/n): "Come on~ You can--"

Rumi: "Argh! Can you just be quiet for a minute and let me think?! Please?!"

The words came quick and sharp. So much so when (Y/n) first heard them, it took a good half a minute to properly react to them. By the time he finally had processed them, he was quickly to drop his smile and all other emotion that was previously on his face. As for Rumi, the angry look she had finally manifested slowly began to fade after she realized what she had done. When she did, she didn't know what to do.

Rumi: "(Y-Y/n), I'm--"

(Y/n): [Lowers head] "No. No. It's fine. You're right. I-I was going too fast..." [Sighs and mutters] "Stupid."

Rumi: "(Y/n)...?"

It took a few seconds for (Y/n) to even react. As for Rumi, her angered look had now completely dropped off the face of the planet. A concerned tone escaping her lips as she called out to (Y/n). Had she screwed up? Sure, she planned to yell at (Y/n). But not in this manner. This way made it seem like she was just an asshole. At least the other way she was showing that (Y/n) was the problem.

But here, she just made it seem like he was the victim. That piled on with all these other thoughts of (Y/n) left her even more confused. However, what was surprising to Rumi was when finally (Y/n) turned back to look at her. But he was not upset, not in the slightest way. Instead, he smiled brightly at the young girl across from him. Rubbing the back of his head as he closed his eyes.

(Y/n): "I guess I was going a little fast, huh?" [Chuckles] "Not surprising. I always seem to get that way when I'm nervous."

Rumi: "Nervous? Why would--Wait...You're not mad at me?"

(Y/n): "Mad at you? Why would I be mad?"

Rumi was half tempted to just yell at (Y/n) again for being dumb and not understanding what she meant. But the future Rabbit Hero held back and instead responded in the softest tone she could possibly muster.

Rumi: "I just yelled at you..."

(Y/n): "Oh, that? Nah! Why would I be mad at that? I mean, you were right. I was speaking fast. I can see how annoying that could be."

Rumi: "But still...I basically yelled at you in a place like this. I mean, no one's around..."

Which was true. The library wasn't usually busy on a Friday afternoon, but still. It was far quieter than normal.

Rumi: [Shakes head] "What I mean is...A lot of other people wouldn't be happy being yelled at. Let alone in public. So why aren't you mad at me? You have every right too."

Why was she trying to justify a reason for (Y/n) to be mad at her? That was...Very un-Rumi-like. Something the girl noticed quickly. But she didn't think on it much as she noticed (Y/n) began to do exactly that for the question she laid down for him. To her surprise again, however, (Y/n) merely shook it all off and responded with that same smile on his lips.

(Y/n): "Sure. I guess I can see where people are coming from if they wanted to take it in that route. In the end, though, I was speaking fast..."

Rumi: "Yeah, but--"

(Y/n): "Besides...I believe in life that getting angry over something is a waste of time."

That one sentence was enough to put Rumi in her place, shoving her back into a position where all she could do was listen as (Y/n) continued to speak.

(Y/n): "Like, why get angry over something when you can smile about it instead? If not for yourself, then for those around you, right? I mean, you don't know what someone else is going through. Even if they're just some random person. They could be going through the worst day in existence. And I know, if I was in their shoes, I'd much rather see the people around me smile instead of being angry. So...I guess that's it." [Laughs] "That might sound pretty stupid, huh?"

Surprisingly...Not. When (Y/n) first started speaking, Rumi expected to take these words as nothing but stupid sounds with no meaning. But as they were all brought together, Rumi couldn't help but find herself unable to move. Not from guilt for yelling at (Y/n), but by the pure class act he had in taking the moment forward. A lot of other people would have whined for being yelled at. Or take a stand and call her a bitch or something.

But (Y/n)...He just smiled. He didn't blame her. He didn't yell back, despite having a right to. He just looked at her and smiled. Even then, it wasn't for himself. He smiled for those around him. Such a realization brought so many discoveries down hard on Rumi. For one, (Y/n) was stupid. He was just some guy who happened to beat her in a fight. He was a genuinely nice person looking to try his best in everything.

Even then, he still took the time to look out for others. Like when he did beat Rumi, he didn't rub it in. She knew she probably would have. But (Y/n) just smiled and laughed with her. At least, he attempted to. But Rumi was too much of a stuck-up that she didn't realize until right now. (Y/n) was the stupid one, she was. And upon realizing such, the young girl was left to immediately drop her face into her open palms and groan.

Rumi: [Groans] "I'm so stupid!"

The out-of-nowhere response was definitely not something (Y/n) expected, leaving him to just watch silently momentarily. Even as Rumi began to softly whack her head into her palms.

Rumi: "Stupid. Stupid. Stupid."

With each declaration of the word, Rumi struck her head into her hands. She didn't know how long exactly she planned to do such. Perhaps eternity? Or until she felt less stupid? But going off the way she currently felt, that wouldn't be for a long time. However, in yet another surprise, Rumi was cut off from her eternity of punishment when the voice of (Y/n) entered the air.

(Y/n): "I don't think you're stupid."

Rumi: "Huh?"

Immediately she lifted her head to see (Y/n) offering a softer variant of his trademark smile. Instantly Rumi's thoughts were brought back to the very reason he smiled in the first place.

(Y/n): "I said, I don't think you're stupid."

Rumi: [Sighs] "Yeah, well, I sure feel like it."

(Y/n): "...Yeah, well, sometimes what we feel is different from reality. It's kinda a sick way our mind tricks us."

Was...Was he trying to make her feel better? The thought of it perplexed Rumi. There were countless opportunities where (Y/n) could have just left Rumi to keep hitting her head. Yet, he was going out of his way to try and make her feel better. Man...It made her feel even stupider. But not for the reason she would have first thought.

(Y/n): "It's when our mind plays tricks on us, that we should turn to those who are close to us to give us the reassurance we need."

Rumi: "But what's if you don't have anyone for that?" [Mutters] "What's if you push everyone away to the point you don't have those people?"

(Y/n) knew he was treading in deep water right now, and if he was smart, he'd back away before he could potentially screw things up. But (Y/n) wasn't smart, he was (Y/n). So he did what (Y/n) always did, and stepped first foot into the danger without a single thought. Though the comfort of his good intentions definitely helped him take this first step.

(Y/n): "Well, I mean, I know I don't know you overly well. But... Just from the short amount of time we have known each other, I can tell that you're strong. Like, really strong..."

Rumi couldn't help but genuinely chuckle at that one. But (Y/n) was quick to continue.

(Y/n): "I also think you're incredibly determined. I tell as much every time I watch you in a fight. You always go for the win straight away. You don't like to lose, and you don't like to waste time. And I think that's pretty awesome. Heck, I think you're awesome. Straight up!"

That final statement was enough to get Rumi to abruptly turn to (Y/n), this time carrying a small smile. Seeing such was enough to break the previously nervous expression he dawned upon first seeing the girl turn to him. But just when he thought he was reaching new ground with Rumi, the girl suddenly dropped her head and sighed once more. The shadows of her white hair covering her face seamlessly.

Rumi: "Thanks, (Y/n)...But I'm not awesome."

(Y/n): "Yes, you are! Remember that time you punched Enji in the face, and he lost, which caused him to wreck the boy's locker rooms because he lost to a girl? I thought that was incredibly awesome...And funny."

Rumi: [Chuckles softly] "Thanks, but...That's not what I meant." [Sighs] "What I meant is...I didn't exactly ask you here to study today." [Turns to you] "I actually asked you here so I could yell at you."

(Y/n): "Y-Yell at me?"

Rumi: "I originally planned to do it the other day in the cafeteria, but my tongue got caught in my throat. I asked you here so I could gather my thoughts and yell at you now."

(Y/n): "Why?"

Rumi: "...I was angry, that you beat me. I haven't lost in a fight at this school before, and when I first fought you, I won. But then we kept fighting, and sure, I'd still win. But I'd noticed how you were improving every week. Until eventually...You beat me."

A frail sigh was all that filled the air momentarily as (Y/n) processed the words being said to him, meanwhile, Rumi tried her best to keep herself together.

Rumi: "I was so angry, annoyed that I lost, that I put it all onto you...When I should have been putting it on myself. I'm the reason I lost, not you. Even worse, I intended to make you feel like it was your fault. And all because I couldn't handle losing. How pathetic is that..."

How pathetic indeed. Everything was pathetic. Even this very moment. Rumi hated admitting her faults. Yet, after hearing everything from (Y/n), the young girl felt it was only natural to admit them now, especially to (Y/n), he deserved it. But what was most surprising after all this wasn't the fact that she feared having it be known that she had faults. But instead, she feared what (Y/n) would think about her.

The one boy who, had every right to be annoyed with her before for yelling at him, simply gave her a smile and even supported her telling her how awesome he thought she was. She had never been called that before... Yet, now, she was afraid that he was going to outright hate her. And his first sentence in response didn't do much help for that matter.

(Y/n): "...So you really did hate me, huh? I was right."

Rumi: "I know what I just said is terrible, and I'm a terrible person for thinking that, (Y/n). But, seriously, I really am sorry for thinking that. I...I..." [Mumbles] "I don't apologize often, so, I really do mean it..."

Keeping her head low, Rumi was afraid of the answer she'd receive from (Y/n). Which was weird, moments ago she hated him, or at least, she made it up in her mind that she hated him, and he deserved it. But now she saw that he was a genuinely nice person who was caring and much smarter on a level she hadn't even thought was possible in a teenage boy. Yet, here she was. Now she was worried that this potential friend, she couldn't believe she was even thinking such, would now hate her. So you could only imagine the relief she felt when she heard (Y/n) laugh.

(Y/n): [Chuckles] "So you really did hate me, huh? Well, I'm glad my detective skills are on alert. I've gotta tell Hizashi."

Rumi: "Huh? You're laughing? You're laughing at me? You're totally laughing at me, aren't you?"

(Y/n): "What? No. Why would I be laughing at you?"

Rumi: "Because I'm pathetic and I deserve to be laughed at."

(Y/n): "I don't think you're pathetic. I said I thought you were awesome."

Rumi: "Yeah, but...That was before I told you the truth."

(Y/n): "The truth? Pfft! So what about it. Who cares. Besides, you apologized. It's chill."

It's chill? She couldn't believe what she was hearing.

Rumi: "But...But I wanted to blame you all for everything I felt. That's not good. Heck. Even worse, I'm in a course to be a hero. How pathetic is that?"

(Y/n): "It's not pathetic. Besides, if you had said that, I wouldn't care."

Rumi: "Y-You wouldn't?"

(Y/n): "No. I mean, sure, I may have thought over it for awhile, but at the end of the day I wouldn't have let it hold me back from seeing the real you."

Rumi: "The real me?"

(Y/n): "Yeah! The badass bunny from Class 1-A! The girl whose definitely going to be a great hero one day." [Chuckles] "Look. People can say what they want to me. I don't care. Well, that depends. But if it comes from someone who still puts their life on the line everyday to protect those who can't protect themselves, well, I can't help but respect them nonetheless. You're the same, Rumi."

Rumi couldn't believe it. (Y/n) wasn't mad at her. Even when he had even more of a right now, he still wasn't mad. In fact, he went about trying to make her feel better, when she really shouldn't. The young girl was so shocked that she could only just stare at (Y/n) in pure disbelief. A few minutes passed with the pair just sitting in silence. (Y/n) didn't push once for Rumi to talk. Just allowing her to have her moment to process everything. But when she was ready to finally talk, (Y/n) was there to listen, a smile ever present on his face.

Rumi: "Um, I-I know this may not be the best of times, but...Would you...I-If you want to, I mean...Maybe...Study with me now? I mean, actually study. You know--" [Chuckles awkwardly] "I-I did kinda ask you here for that."

She wasn't exactly sure what (Y/n) was going to say. For a moment he just sat there and smiled at her, all before a sigh escaped his lips as he turned to the book in front of him.

(Y/n): "I don't know, Rumi. That depends..."

Rumi: "Depends? Depends on what?" [Thoughts] "Is he playing with my emotions right now? Because I swear! If he is I'll--"

(Y/n): "...Are you ready for another pop quiz?"

The words at first confused Rumi. But soon she came to realize what he was talking about, and couldn't help but chuckle softly along with (Y/n). So from that moment on the pair spent the time studying. Actually studying. All the while Rumi would slowly move closer to (Y/n)'s side on the table. The comfort of having someone she didn't think was stupid was a nice feeling.

Little did Rumi know that these nice feelings would slowly build into something more. As for (Y/n), he was just happy to have another friend. Unbeknowst to him, however, from behind a bookshelf, his other friends, that being Aizawa, Hizashi, Enji, and Toshinori, could be seen sighing in relief upon seeing the scene come to an end.

Aizawa: [Sighs] "He didn't get punched."

Hizashi: "I SEE THIS AS AN ABOSLUTE WIN!"

"Ssshhh!"

Hizashi: [Looks around] "Who said that?"

Aizawa: "We're in a library, Hizashi."

Hizashi: "Huh? Oh, right."

The pair slowly walk off, followed by Enji.

Enji: "What a shame. A happy ending. I was hoping she'd punch him after all. Or he'd punch her. Just something entertaining."

Unfortunately, he never got that entertaining something, and just walked off. That left only Toshinori behind. The skinny blonde was stuck in thought, a single word (Y/n) said processing through his mind over and over again.

Toshinori: "Smiling, huh...?"

He didn't know why the word, and the story (Y/n) gave, stuck with him so much. Little did Toshinori know, it'd become the centre of his character as the years went by. Nevertheless, it appeared another happying ending was given to U.A. People who thought they had enemies became friends. And people who thought they had friends with friends became actual friends. And both Rumi and (Y/n) couldn't be happier.

However, that didn't mean some weren't feeling quite the same. One such person was Kayama herself, who had previously heard earlier the day from Takeyama that (Y/n) was seen going into the library. When she heard this, Kayama took it as the perfect opportunity to have some playful flirting with the boy she liked. Unfortunately, when Kayama arrived to see none other then Rumi Usagiyama cuddling up to (Y/n)...Okay, she wasn't actually cuddling up to (Y/n), but she was close enough that people that just so happened to walk by could possibly presume such.

Nevertheless, it was something Kayama didn't like to see. But upon seeing it, it brought out a strange feeling inside of her. One filled with with...Jealousy. But how? Why? She had never been jealous before. But now she was...Was she? She didn't know. What she did know, however, was that she should be in that position Rumi was right now. So much so that in this very moment, Kayama unknowingly vowed to herself to do exactly that. Little did she know of the war that was fast approaching....

[What did you guys think?]

[And there we have it, I hope you all enjoyed. I decided to have these next two chapters focus on one girl each, just to give them some time to flesh out their characters and showcase why they like the reader instead of just, you know, randomly liking him. Now, I kinda had Rumi come off as a little bit of a..."B-itch" in this chapter. But only to end it with the greatest thing ever...CHARACTER! DEVELOPMENT! She'll still be the Rumi we know from the Manga and anime, but, remember, she's young, and she likes a boy, so, of course things are gonna get that way. Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed, if you did, feel free to vote and comment, those do help out. And don't miss the next chapter, where Kayama gets her turn for CHARACTER! DEVELOPMENT! See ya around!]
