Sage's POV

It's been two years now since Matteo fled the country. The last time I saw him was that night at the restaurant. After that day he cut all communication. 

I've now graduated from college as a traveling registered nurse. I've got to go to a few really cool places recently for nursing. I went on a few dates but no one was able to keep my attention.

Matteo's POV

I had to leave. I really only left because I can't be with Sage. I couldn't bear being in that town without her. I can't let myself hurt a girl like her. 

Although I left due to our family business I can't help but think I left because of her. I miss her deeply. I go to bed and I dream about her and the life that we could have had. S

he would never fit into this family and the life we live. She definitely could never handle what I do for work. She would be put in danger everywhere she goes and I can't have her hurt because of me.
