But Nobody Came

Frisk's POV

I sobbed. Chara was still in control, but in the mindset I'm in, I'm not set up to take over. I tried to stifle my sobs to not bother them, but I couldn't help but let out a few stifled whimpers. I'm so Pathetic. I wish I could be strong like Chara. They never feel sad or angry or anything. That sounded bad at first, but right now it feels like that's the way to go.

We walked to a cave. Chara gathered our determination and their eyes glowed bright for a few seconds like how they looked during the fight. I guess that's what happens when you have determination like we do. Chara's eyes returned to their sharp, brooding red as she walked forward into the dark cave.

We passed a large sign. It seemed to be a neon sign that was turned off. It should say 'Welcome To Hot Land'. Hot Land? Sounds fancy, and hot.

"Chara, can I have my body back?" I asked them. they rolled their eyes and left my body, letting it hit the ground. I winced and took back over. I felt the back of my head and winced as I touched where my head hit the rocky ground.

I walked forward, already feeling the heat from here. I slipped of my sweater showing my black tank top underneath. I wrapped it around my waste and looked back at Chara. They were looking away with a confused and flustered look on their face. Cute.

The ground changed to a red rock. There was a wooden sign  with lava underneath it, I'm surprised the wood hasn't burned up yet. I walked across it seeing the black obsidian walls.

On the other side there was, surprisingly, a water machine you would see in an office building. Strange, but comforting.

I walked forward some more, ignoring the water for now. I'm not that thirsty. In the middle of a cross road I was deciding which way to go while gathering my determination. "40 Left."

I shuddered at the reminder. I'm a horrible person. Why did I ever go down this road, and now I'm to DETERMINED to give up. I hate this. I hate who I've become.

I began to walk around looking for the remainders. No one seems to make it out alive.

I walked down some steps to see a person wearing a cloak on a boat. "Tra la la. I am the riverman. or the riverwoman? Doesn't really matter. I love to ride in my boat. Would you care to join me?" The hooded person asked politely. I smiled, but I avoided them for now. Such a sweet person.

I walked to the right and saw a huge white lab, but I still had more to do before I went in there. I had to search.

When I tried to go to the north a force field stopped me. Probably for the best. I saw a monster.

Slash.

I heard Chara giggle, sick.

I walked into the lab and was greeted with a huge screen with my face on it, following my every move. That's creepy.

I walked around the lab, seeing a dog food bag that was half empty according to Chara and a messy desk with a computer on top. I went up the escalator to see books marked 'human History' which really just turned out to be manga comics. There was also a picture of a cat girl and a cube that turned into a bed.

When walking to the left, hopefully finding the exit, I came across a rectangular robot that seemed to have come from a giant hole in the wall.

"Oh, there you are." He spoke. I just noticed the microphone he was holding. Is he some kind of game show host? "You ugly little creature. You've made quite a name for yourself. Such infamy...! I'm impressed." he began to clap his hands after the rather rude statement.

"Oh, yes. If you're looking for alphys, she's not here." Who...?

"While you were busy doing you're, Ahem, thing... She was running around evacuating people to safety. Now they're in a place you'll never get to them. Deciding not to fight you. My my, she really is the only smart one, isn't she?"

I knew I would have to fight this robot. I crept forward slightly, my ballet shoes tapping quietly against the tiled ground. "oh? How sassy. You're just itching to get your hands on me, aren't you?" He remarked.

I grimaced at the thought.

"Well T-O-O B-A-D. This world needs stars more than it needs corpses! Toodles!" He concluded his speech by rolling out of the room. Smart little robot. God damn right, you should be scared of me.

I excited the lab and was greeted by the same sweltering heat and red rocky ground. There were moving walkways little ways up that shot me into a fight with a monster called Vulkin. The short monster was cute, but could still hurt me. I swiftly landed three kicks on the creature watching as it coated me in a sufficient amount of dust.

"70 XP and 50 Gold. Wow, Frisk." Chara complimented. At least, I think it was a compliment. I thanked them anyway. You can never be to polite.

I continued walking forward, seeing more moving paths. I walked forward more, continuing the path north. I gathered my determination. "39 Left." Chara reminded me. Why couldn't it be 39 compliments left?

I was soon greeted with platforms that shot steam out to propel me forward. Another fight, Three more kicks, and so it continues.

I went down one path and found a burnt frying pan. "Weapon AT 10. Damage is rather consistent. consumable items heal 4 more Hp." Chara informs me. I decided to equip the pan. I noticed something written in green paint on the handle. KINDNESS, it reads. Whoever owned this before me must've been very kind. I feel very powerful holding this pan.

I continued to look for as many monsters as possible until I got to only one left, according to Chara. "Where are they?" I asked out loud. Chara just shrugged. They've been quieter than usual lately. "Chara?" I asked silently, getting no reply. "Why are you so quite? It's scaring me." I said. They looked the other direction.

I feel like I'm losing my only friend here.

"C-Chara, did I make you mad? I'm sorry" I sniffled. Tears sprung in my eyes that I didn't bother to wipe away. After a prolonged amount of silence my tears started falling, hissing as they met the heated ground. "Did I do something wrong? I've been doing like you asked, even if I don't really agree with it. I-I killed every-everyone here for y-you! I sobbed.

Chara had their back to me, curled up in a ball. if I could touch them, I'd probably give them a hug. "You didn't do anything wrong, I did." Chara finally spoke after a long silence filled with my quiet crying.

"What do you mean? We're making this world safer! Sure its in a more violent way, but now the humans are safe!" I was confused. Yes killing is wrong, but the reason why isn't, right?

"No Frisk the monsters here are... Are... Dammit, I can't even tell you the truth. I did this because I wanted us to suffer. I could see the good person you were and new the way to crush you was to make you hurt people. The reason I wanted to torture you was because you were human, and I don't have a good past with that species. Sadly, I'm human to, and I deserve to suffer so much more, so why not make you kill her everyone I love? Then in the process, I fell in l- NO. Love is overrated, emotions are dumb.Get back to work Frisk." Their voice turned from fragile and soft to rough and angry.

I flinched away in fear.

They saw my flinch and Chara's face softened. They then turned around and disappeared. I panicked.

"Chara! Chara!" I called out.

But nobody came.
