❤• Chapter 10: Warmth and Security •❤
Taehyung's POV
"You are all dismissed." The teacher announced as students one by one exited the classroom. I opened my phone and studied myself in my camera, fixing my bangs.
I asked Sinon for a date, and surprisingly she agreed. Well, I offered to walk her home but she doesn't know that I'll take her somewhere along the way.
"Yah, Taehyung, you seem giddy. Something firing you up?" Jin asked his bag slung in his shoulder ready to go while, placing his hands on my desk.
I smile even wider and nod my head. "I'm going on a date with Sinon."
"That's mah boy!" He patted my back harshly, causing me to slightly cough.
"Though, I'm kinda nervous." I say with a pout. "Give me some tips, Jin." I turned to him in desperation.
He raised a finger to his chin and nodded. "Very well then. If it's Sinon don't get to close in proximity, respect her personal space or else she'll bite you. Literally. Fix your hair and act like a gentleman no matter what. If she thinks your handsome, she'll seek for more physical contact. Use that, and there's a chance it'll end smoothly."
A chance? So there's also a chance this could not go smoothly? This is so complicated.
"Okay, I think I have some hair gel." He rummaged through his bag and took out gel. He applied some on his hand and raised my bangs to the side of my forehead some sticking upward. He circled my desk and nodded a few times before making adjustments.
"Perfect." He says with a smile and took out a mirror from his bag as I stared at him incredulously. "I keep one for emergency purposes." He placed the mirror in front of my desk and I got to say, he did pretty well.
Is this enough to beguile her?
"V."
The door slammed open as both of us whipped our heads to the door, to see an irked girl in black sauntered her way to me. Her voice is as low as ever and her tone, firm and solemn.
"Let's go."
I smiled and scampered to her side. As we made our way through the hallways, people who we passed by looked at us in a weird way, some were glaring at her which was mostly girls.
She always rushes to go home, and I don't think she does anything at her house except boring stuff like studying or maybe hurting herself like every time I felt she was up to no good. I understand that she had a woeful past and I can respect that, but.....
I stopped in my tracks, Sinon brushing past me as she continued the route home.
"Hey, Sinon." I called out. She finally stopped and swiveled back. "Since, dismissal is earlier than usual, how about taking a detour?" I asked excitedly.
She shrugs nonchalantly and gave a curt nod. I gave a wide grin and held her wrist, shepherding her to the nearest bus stop. She didn't recoil from my touch nor tried to remove her hand from my grip, instead she let me hold her wrist, our bandaged hand still healing.
The bus stopped in front as I stepped aside for her to go in before me. We rode to the bus stop near the mall and walked to our destination, me gripping her wrists.
A tall structure was seen in the distance, both of us nearing the building.
Once, we reached there, I let go of her arms and ran towards the entrance. I stopped halfway and looked back to Sinon, her eyes scanning the crowded building in front.
"Sinon, hurry up! It's the aquarium!" I childishly yelled and pointed to the large sign embedded on top of the wide entrance.
"The aquarium? Okay, what is going on?" Her eyebrows creased curiously as she walked up to me.
I snickered and ushered her inside. "I remember going here when I was in grade school!"
"You said were taking a detour, not go on a fieldtrip!" She reprimanded, holding up my arm and twisting it backwards as I yelp in pain.
"Okay okay! I give up!" I whined.
"Fine." She let go of my hand as I hugged it to my chest. "You're lucky we're in public."
We stood behind a line and paid our entrance fees as I ran in.
"Taehyung! Wait!" She yelled catching up to me.
We came across tanks of different sizes, each filled with a school of fish of the same species as I ran to all of them. I got to caught up on the fish that I forgot the reason I went here. Sinon always walks behind me, following me as I watched colorful fish swim in their tanks, all she does is take a simple glance and walk away, apparent that she didn't enjoy this trip.
I saw a crowd rustling in the entrance entitled 'Dolphin show' giving me an idea.
"Noona, there's a dolphin show that started earlier, if you'd like maybe it's not too late to catch up."
At this, her expression lightened, her eyes widened, her mouth slightly parted. She immediately hid her face with her jacket.
"Whatever, let's just go." She headed towards the entrance, peering over tall men. She hops from her position, desperate to see what was over them. I grabbed her waists and hoisted her up as she shrieked in surprise. She glances down at me, giving her a toothy grin. She slightly flinched, her expression became rigid and stiff as she diverted her attention back to the dolphins with pink tinted cheeks, covered with the goodie of her jacket. A head was blocking the view as I only heard shrill sounds of dolphins and a......neigh?
"Sinon, did you see what happened?" I asked, my hands trembling from her weight.
"Y-yeah." She responds awkwardly.
A thunder of applause was heard inside the stadium as I brought her to the ground again.
She straightened her short hair and marched away.
"Let's go."
A crowd cut between me and Sinon as she continued the to the path. I squeezed through the crowd, avoiding stepping on children, before a buff guy shoved past me, causing me to lose balance and fall down, square in the butt.
"You're such a klutz." A voice said holding out her hand, swathed in bandages. The roof of this part of the aquarium was made out of glass, the sun shining behind her as her hand was stretched out in front of me, like an angel. A blush crept to my cheeks as I held her hand, slightly sweating.
She'll seek for more physical contact..
Jin's word echoed through my head making my heart beat.
Once, I stood up, she didn't let go of my hand, walking straight forward to our next destination. Our contact felt like a shock of electricity travelling up my arm to my chest as it uncontrollably thumped against my chest. It was dangerous for me, yet I still yearn for it.
We made our way to the curved aquarium, the walls made out of glass as fishes swam behind it, but this time, it had sharks, stingrays, and whale sharks swimming in its waters. I was indeed fascinated by the marine animals, while Sinon begrudgingly traipses behind me, her trademark scowl not leaving her expressions.
I pretend to not notice and began to stare at the fish more idly, feeling her glare melt through me.
Then I saw her walking away.
"Sinon, look at the fishes!" I held her arm back as she stood her ground, not budging.
"The route is this way..." she muttered to herself, trudging her feet forward.
"Just thirty more minutes!" I begged still gripping her arm.
"Thirty. Minutes." She walks back into the aquarium and poked on the glass, an eccentric fish hovering in front of her finger.
"That's a lion fish." I stated, nearing her.
"It's pretty." She murmured and her eyes went to the small shark in the distance. I saw her lips twitch, urging her to smile, but she held it in.
We continued the entire trip in the same spirit, and unfortunately, we forgot about the thirty minute time limit and lasted in here until the sky became dark.
"Okay, I'm sure you're undoubtedly satisfied from the amount of fish you saw. What a happy ending to this trip, we've all had our fun and now it's time to.......leave." she says sarcastically, pulling on the back of my sweater as I acted like a stubborn five year old.
"W-wait!" I didn't want it to end like this. Not yet. I searched for an excuse for us to spend more time together and fell to a large building near the aquarium. "Why don't we go to the rooftop? The view seems nice up there." I said with a chuckle. She finally let's go off me and scoffed, crossing her arms on her chest.
"Fine," she rubbed her forehead. "This is the last time, arrasso!?"
I nodded vigorously and raced her to the top. We entered the building and waited for about ten minutes in the elevator until we got to the top.
A cold breeze greeted me.
The whole city was seen from up here, its lights flashing below us like tiny light bulbs in the distance. Even, from all the city lights below, a huge amount of stars was visible in the dark sky, the moon glowing white. I ran to the edges of the building, no safety railings were placed on the sides, one could just climb up and jump off the building.
Sinon walked beside me, leaning her arms to the four foot wall in front of us.
"Waahh, it's so beautiful up here." I looked at all the cars down below.
"V," she called. "Can I ask you something?"
I looked at her skeptically. "Sure."
She pauses for awhile before continuing.
"Are you in love with me?"
Warmth reached my cheeks as my heart began to thump faster again.
"Falling in love with someone and having a petty crush is two distinct things. One cannot possibly fall in love I such a short period of time."
I froze at her statement as she continued.
She chuckled. "Silly me, why would I even ask a question if the answer is already obvious. Just forget about it, it's just me spouting nonsense aga-"
"What if I do?"
She frowned, her mouth parted.
I then looked at her dismally. "What if I have fallen for you?"
She stared straight, her fists clenched while trembling, her teeth gritted.
"No.....There's no way..." she murmured before snaking her arms on my waist, lifting me from the ground. "There's no way that you could've loved me in a week." She propped her foot on the wall, and climbed on top of it, me under her arm, dangling a thousand feet away from the streets below. If she didn't have insane strength, I would've plummeted to my death.
"Sinon, we're going to fall!!!" I shouted and gripped on her arm as she continued to hasten her pace on the edges of the building. My heart pounded in fear and thrill.
"I'm not going to let you fall. Let the breeze soothe you. Admit that you said that on impulse and I'll let you down." She says nonchalantly, walking even faster, her grip on me slipping.
"No!" I yelled. "I meant every single word!"
"No you don't!" She retorts in vexation. "Love takes time and effort, something that cannot be rushed! Love at first sight doesn't exist!"
"I never believed that!" I shouted, the wind roared through my ears. "I've known you! Way before Min did!" I straightforwardly admitted as she froze in her tracks. "Why don't you recognize all my efforts for you!" I said, tears moistened my eyes. "Didn't you even find me handsome!?" I looked straight into her eyes. Confusion laced her expressions, slowly loosening her grip on my waists.
For a split second, I saw her pupils dilated when she looked at me.
I slowly stood up from the wall, and I ended up walking the other way, my foot slipping as I fell from the building.
It all happened in slow motion. My and reached for the edge of the window pane of the building as her head whipped back in worry, hearing her scream.
"TAEHYUNG!" Her voice cracking, I managed to hold on the edges of the window pane.
"TAEHYUNG! Grab my hand!" She lowered her body from the edge, like a daredevil she held on the edges while her other was outstretched.
My hands trembled, can't hold my weight for long. My lips shivered in fear as adrenaline rushed through me as she continued to scream my name. I gritted my teeth as tears fell from my eyes.
"TAEHYUNG!"
"TAEHYUNG!"
"Please!"
My eyelids fluttered open. I looked above to see her face in desperation, tears threatened to fall from her eyes.
"Please, let me save you!" Her breath hitched as I groaned, my fingers pained to be holding on much longer.
"Please, Taehyung! PLEASE!"
I was about to reach my hand, then my fingers slipped from the window pane.
I felt a hand grasp my arm as my body slammed against the concrete. She lifted me up with all the strength she could muster as I wrapped my hand around her her body once I'm safe and sound.
Her stance was rigid and stiff, but I felt her fast heartbeat against mine. She stood straight while I rested my head in her shoulders, tears staining my cheek.
"Taehyung...." she murmured, her voice muffling in my shoulder.
She's so warm and kind.
No matter how hard she tries to mean and emotionless, I could still feel the warmth hiding beneath her cold heart. Still, sensing the true Sinon, lingering in her soul, unable to be broken under all circumstances.
For all this years, I yearned for this kind of feeling. Embracing her like it was my last.
It's unfair......you wanted me to give up on you, when.....
I've fallen for you all over again.....
