Ch 1: We Meet Again

Narrator's POV

In a small meadow filled with beautiful flowers sat a very sweet looking angel.

Cream colored skin with rosy cheeks.  A pair of glasses sat on his cute button nose.  His shoulder length blond hair looked like spun gold with a lone curl bouncing in the breeze.  His violet eyes held kindness and gentleness.  And a small but happy smile was on his face as he continued to weave a beautiful flower crown.

Glancing up at the blue sky, he smiled and brushed some of his golden hair away, showing the golden mark of royalty on his forehead.  He closed his eyes and stretched his arms, causing his beautiful golden wings to stretch as well.

Why were his wings golden?

Simple; because this sweet angel known as Matthew is the son of the angel king, King Francis, and is next in line for the throne of heaven.

"Birdie, vhat are jou thinking?"  A familiar voice asked.  Matthew opened his eyes and was met with a ruby-eyed demon with snow white hair, a red spade tail, red wings, and a red marking on his forehead staring down at him.  Matthew smiled and hugged the demon.

"Gilbert,"  He said in a soft, loving voice.  Gilbert hugged back.

"Kesse, did mein awezome Birdie miss zhe awezome me as much as zhe awezome me missed mein awezome Birdie?"  Gilbert asked.  Matthew just burrowed deeper into Gilbert's chest in response.

"Kesse, jou are just so awezomely cute Birdie."  Gilbert said.  He gently kissed Matthew's forehead before leading him over to the shade of a nearby tree.

"H-here,"  Matthew said, holding up the flower crown.  Gilbert smiled and took it, placing it on his head.

"How does zhe awezome me look?"  Gilbert asked.  Matthew giggled.

"Awesome of c-course."  He said softly, getting Gilbert to chuckle.  Matthew smiled and moved back into Gilbert's embrace.  Gilbert gave a genuine smile as he ran his fingers through Matthew's soft hair.

"... Birdie, are jou feeling as awezome as me?"  Gilbert asked, placing his hand on Matthew's forehead. Matthew looked up.

"J-just a bit t-tired."  Matthew said quietly, although Gilbert didn't quite believe him.  Matthew had bags starting to form under his eyes and his forehead felt warm.  Gilbert gently had Matthew sit on his lap, using his wings to hold him close.

"Birdie, are jou unawezomely sick?"  Gilbert asked.  Matthew shook his head as he closed his wings around himself.

"J-just tired Gilly."  He said, resting his head in the crook of Gilbert's neck.  Gilbert sighed.

"Birdie..."

"I...  I j-just haven't b-been g-getting a lot of s-sleep is all."  Matthew admitted.  Gilbert hummed a bit.

"Zhen rest Birdie."

"But-"

"Shh,"  Gilbert said, cutting Matthew off.  "Zhe awezome me doesn't vant mein awezome Birdie to get unawezomely sick from lack of rest."  Gilbert said sincerely.  Matthew nodded.

"F-fine but p-please stay with m-me Gilly."  Matthew pleaded.  Gilbert nodded, placing a small kiss on Matthew's forehead.

"Ja, zhe awezome me vasn't planning on going anyvhere, especially since zhe awezome me hasn't seen mein awezome Birdie in a vhile."  Gilbert said, and what he said was true; they hadn't seen each other in a while.

The reason being was because Matthew was unfortunately too sick to go anywhere, so his father had him locked in the palace.  And it wasn't like Gilbert, the king of demons, could just wander into the palace of angels to visit the sick prince.  Gilbert would just be speared by the angels.

"...Gilly,"  Matthew said in a soft voice, pulling Gilbert from his thoughts.  "W-will we e-ever be able t-to be t-together?"  Matthew asked.  Gilbert sighed.

"Even zhe awezome me doesn't know right now Birdie."  Gilbert admitted.  "Zhe awezome me can't abandon Hell, or else zhe unawezome demons vill start a var again, and jou vould be in too much unawezome danger in Hell as it now."  Gilbert said, tightening his grip around Matthew.

"I-I know."  Matthew said sadly.  Gilbert placed his forehead against Matthew's.

"Don't vorry mein awezome Birdie, zhe awezome me has an awezome plan though."  Gilbert said.  Matthew looked into Gilbert's eyes.

"W-what plan?"  He questioned.  Gilbert grinned.

"Right now, in a special place, zhe awezome me is making zhe perfect place for zhe two of us,"  Gilbert said, taking Matthew's hand in his own.  "An awezome place vhere no one vill separate us, and zhe awezome me vill still be able to make sure zhat zhe unawezome demons don't go to var."  Matthew tilted his head.

"R-really?"  He questioned, his voice sounding hopeful.  "Is t-there really a p-place like t-that?"

"Ja,"  Gilbert said, kissing Matthew's hand.  "But it is unawezomely not ready yet, but soon mein awezome Birdie, soon it vill be."  Matthew smiled.

"I c-can't wait."  Matthew said excitedly.  Gilbert laughed.

"Kesse, but jou have to vait mein awezome Birdie."  Gilbert said.  He wrapped his arms back around the angel, resting his head gently on the other's.  "But for now jou need to awezomely rest."  Matthew pouted.

"B-but how c-can I rest w-when I'm s-so excited?"  Matthew asked.  Gilbert smirked.

"Vith a kiss from zhe awezome me!"  Gilbert replied.  Gilbert gently kissed Matthew, using some of his magic to help lull the exhausted angel to sleep.  When they broke apart, Matthew cuddled closer to Gilbert's chest, his eyes fluttering shut as his breathing evened out.  Gilbert smiled.

"Zhere, now mein Birdie vill get awezomely better."  Gilbert said.  He leaned back and peered up at the blue sky, feeling at ease till he began to feel his brother trying to contact him.  Gilbert sighed and pulled out a small hand-held mirror.

"Ja, vhat do jou vant vith zhe awezome me?"  Gilbert asked. Ludwig sighed on the other end.

"I just vanted to make sure jou vere okay and to tell jou zhat jour *cough* project is almost done."  Ludwig replied.  Gilbert grinned.

"Zhat is awezome!"  Gilbert exclaimed.  "In zhat case zhe awezome me zhinks zhat zhe awezome me vill bring mein Birdie zhere."  Ludwig tensed up up.

"Bruder, zhat may not be a good idea-"

"Nein it is not a good idea, it is an awezome idea."  Gilbert said.  Ludwig sighed.

"Just be careful not to start a var bruder."  Ludwig said.  Gilbert nodded.

"Ja, zhe awezome me vill see jou soon."  Gilbert said happily.  The image of Ludwig disappeared from the mirror as Gilbert shifted a bit.  He looked down at Matthew and smiled.

"Don't vorry mein awezome Birdie, soon-"  Gilbert was cut off as he sensed the presence of magic, angelic magic.

Cursing under his breathe, Gilbert placed Matthew on the ground and held a small silver mirror up.  He then began to chant a spell, causing Matthew's body to glow, turning Matthew into a ball of light which flew into the mirror.  Gilbert glanced into the mirror and smirked; there was Matthew, fast asleep.

Gilbert carefully stowed his mirror away, covering his head with his hood, and moved away from the meadow, trying to mask his presence as he moved towards the location of a portal.
