Dinner
The next morning.
Jessica came downstairs in her robe to start on breakfast for her sons.
Hank slept in the guest room last night, Jessica didn't want him anywhere near her.
"Good morning, momma." Bradley smiles and kisses her cheek.
"Good morning baby! Sit down, breakfast is just about ready."
"Great! Thanks!"
Jessica looks over her shoulder and smiles sweetly.
It was just Jessica and Bradley for a little while. Conner has always been one to sleep in.
"So baby, when can we meet this nice young man? Tell me about him. What's his name? Where is he from?"
"His name is Ziah-"
"Oh that's gorgeous!"
Bradley laughs at how dramatic his mother is.
"And he was born in London, but his family moved to Minnesota soon after due to his mother's job."
"Oh cool! London?! That's so fun!"
"Yep!"
"I want to meet him, Brad!"
"Yeah?" Bradley smiles.
"Yes!"
"Okay.. Well I'll call him after I finish eating and ask if he wants to join us for dinner tonight."
"Yay! I'm excited!"
"I'm glad!
How do you think dad will feel about it?"
"I'm sure he'll be excited too!"
"Mom.."
"Yeah?"
"He's not okay with this, is he?"
"Of course he's okay with it! I mean.. it'll take him a while to get used to it but.. he's fine!"
"Maybe it's too soon for dinner."
"Well yeah! It's still breakfast!" Jessica laughs nervously.
"Mom."
"Yeah, I know.." She stops laughing and lowers her head.
"Sweetie, I'll talk to him. I'm sure this will be okay."
"Okay.. Thanks."
"Of course!" Jessica smiles and pats his hand.
Just then Hank walks downstairs.
Jessica glares at him, then takes her plate to the sink.
"Morning."
"Morning, dad." Bradley smiles.
Bradley noticed how his mother completely ignored his father. He assumed they had a fight the night before.
"I'm gonna go up and take a shower. Thanks for breakfast, mom!"
"You're welcome, honey!"
"Looks good.." Hank says looking down at the food
Jessica grabs a cereal box and throws it at him.
".. Thanks."
"We are going to dinner tonight with our son's, and Bradley's boyfriend. You will be there, and you will not be an ass."
"Okay."
"You will be supportive, and you will behave like a sweet and involved father."
"Yes ma'am."

Dinner.
They ended up meeting at a nice resturant. Hank, Jessica, and Conner arrived first, and Bradley came shortly after with Ziah.
"Okay, Bradley just messaged me. They're here. Please be nice, Hank!"
"Why wouldn't he be nice?" Conner asks before turning to his father. "Do you have a problem with the gay thing? If so, that's ridiculous! Don't say anything rude, dad."
"I'm not!"
Hank then looks up and his blood start to boil.
"Hey you guys! This.. This is Ziah." Bradley smiles, holding his lovers hand.
"Hello Ziah! Oh it's so nice to meet you! I'm Jessica!"
"I recognize you from the pictures. You are gorgeous!"
"Aw! I love you already!" Jessica laughs and hugs him.
Bradley chuckles and says, "This is my little brother, Conner."
"Nice to meet you." Conner smiles.
"Nice to meet you as well!"
"And this is my dad, Hank."
Ziah smiles and extends his hand. "Hello-"
"Mr. Murphy." Hank says with a straight face and his arms crossed.
"Of course! It is so great to meet you, Mr. Murphy! I've heard so much about all of you."
"Hm. Well Bradley really didn't tell us much about you."
"Really?" Ziah smiles. "Like that I-"
"Like that you're black."
"HANK!" Jessica's eyes widen, and she quickly hits his arm.
"I am so sorry, please excuse my husband. He's-"
"Being a complete asshole." Conner finishes.
"Dad, I didn't mention it because I didn't think it mattered."
"Oh it matters!"
"How so? We're all human, and human's need love. I love Ziah, and he loves me. He doesn't love me for the color of my skin, and I don't love him for his. We love each other for what is on the inside. I'm sorry you can't understand that."
***
Just to let everyone know, I am in no way trying to offend anyone with the storyline of this book.
I wanted to go this direction because I've never spoke about it in any of my other stories. The entire book will not revolve around racism, just a small portion.
Being Hispanic, I have had to deal with it myself.
I think we can all agree that in the world we're living in today, the majority of humans are hateful creatures who will pick on anyone for ANY reason! Weight, height, race, hair, EVERYTHING! I mean when a president does it without a care, of course people will follow.
I want this book to be different than my other's. I want to show how not every parent is accepting like most of my characters I've written.
I love you guys! Thank you for reading and commenting. Y'all always make my day!
