Chapter 6
"Are you fucking insane?!" Chase was driven mad and got hold back by his friend, who certainly tried to protect Kayla from his anger. Said women held Taran's phone in her left hand and protected her life with her right one.
"You will thank me when you two start dating."
"You're the worst he will hate m-"
"Hello?"
A voice, softer than expected, came from the speaker. Kayla did a good job when she made the call for everyone to hear, because they all froze in whatever they were doing and stared at it.
"Huh? I swear what the fuck is this..."
"Hey Quinn? You're Quinn, right? You really accepted the call?!" A big, fat grin formed on her face, as she stares at her growling best friend who stared at her with a mix between admiration and the form of hatred only good friends can earn.
"I accepted it accidentally, and it'd be rude to hang up right after. I got manners, unlike you, seemingly."
"Awww, don't be so mean."
"I don't even know you."
"So you shouldn't be mean to someone you don't know!"
"Oh honestly shut up, who are you even?"
"I'm Taran's best friend!"
"I mean if you have his phone i assumed you are his friend."
"You gotta talk to him!
She smiled and handed over the phone back to the owner, who sighed quietly and took it, not forgetting to make the call for only himself to hear. With a slight smirk on his face- maybe resulting from the minimal consum of alcohol they actually had maybe half an hour before-, he held it up to his ear.
"Hello Quinnie, my dear~"
beeb, beeb, beeb...
"Quinn...?"
beeb, beeb, beeb
"Oh..." He swallowed heavily and put down his phone, looking at the screen. Quinn hung up on him. A second later, a message appeared on his screen.
Quinnie:
Sorry, my parents came in.
chAceOfAce:
first off rude
Quinnie:
yeah i'm sorry
chAceOfSpades:
nah it's cool
chAceOfSpades:

Quinnie:
Oh ok
Quinnie:
my parents need me brb
chAceOfSpades:
yeah sure
"Dude I haven't seen you this disappointed since that day Jason accidentally spoilered you in your favourite show, you're sure you're alright?" To say that Will looked concerned was the least. Taran usually looked like a happy- go- lucky, sassy troublemaker, but now he just seemed way to sad, even tho he still tried to joke around.
"What? No, I'm fine. Wh-"
"His boyfriend dumped him."
"He's nOT my boyfriend?!"
"Whatever you say, Chasie." Kayla yawned and poked him jokingly, tho they all knew that that conversation just hurted their friend alot. It's not that they knew alot about that Quinn, but he really seemed to make him happier than he was before. He was louder and smiled more, especially when he was on phone writing. And while it may seemed more annyoing to a stranger, the entire group felt like Chase was the last one to realize he fell head over heels for that man that lives a goddamn good mile away from them.
So while Taran was still somewhat between pouting and trying to finish the level that Nico started a while ago, they all gave each other the Look™ and sighed, agreeing that they'd talk about that later.
So the evening ended with the game being nearly finished, a relatively happy Chase and a group of tired friends, all full with pizza and all kind of sweets they found when they raided Wills kittchen. Isabelle decided to crash her boyfriends place for the night and fell asleep on the couch, Jason and Nico went for midnight shopping because apparently, they both ran out of a shitton of usually essential stuff a week ago, amd Kayla and Taran both went home.
What a good way to end the party, isn't it?
Well, over 2,000 miles away in the west, in a small apartment in a high-rise building, a man had an anxiety attack. Now, usually, it doesn't matter for a story what a stranger does wgen he's so far away, but this stranger happend to write with a certain man since weeks, and he had a cat named Newt, he just happend to be called by a women around his age, and his name was Quentin.
He still lived with his parents, who happend to be at a party since hours. He spent his evening studying, then chatting with fellow gamers in some cheap Online- RPG, as he still did when he received the call. Which left him as a panicking mess in his room.
He didn't feel like he could ever talk to Chase the way he talked to all of his (few) friends, as he never had the confidence to speak for himself.
He didn't want to hurt his new friend.
But he did, and he doesn't know how to make up for that.
On top of that, he lied to him.
He was a terrible human being, and the light of his display reflected on the tears on his cheeks as he received a mew message.
chAceOfSpades:
