KASUMI & WOO-SEOK
While all of her friends are in class and each doing their things, Kasumi finds herself sitting by the window, doing her homework.
The stress hits her internally, making her feel unmotivated to continue any longer with the assignment. The music playing in her headphones also causes her to feel a bit of dizziness, so she takes off her headphones and glances out the window for a small moment to refresh from staring at the laptop screen for so long.
'God, it's only been two weeks. How do we have this much shit to do already?'
She complains in her head.
Then, she frowns as she remembers that this is no longer high school. It's not as easy as it was in high school anymore. This is College, and she has picked out a pretty challenging major-- health science. She sighs as she swears at herself under her breath, slightly regretting her decision to choose such a path that she's not even sure of.
After a moment, she closes her laptop.
She decides to stand up, do a little stretch, and go for a small walk before coming back to sit through the hell of an anatomy assignment. She puts her headphones back on, putting her hands through her sweater's pockets as she roams through the science building, glancing out the window most of the time.
It was pretty peaceful.
For a moment, she could feel herself being so free and not having to think. Just music hitting her ears as she walks through a quiet and unbusy hallway, gazing out to the nature that sets before her eyes through the glass window.
She loved these kinds of moments. The moments when everything would be quiet and she'd be by herself. Not that she doesn't appreciate time with her best friends, but being alone, away from all the stress is... calming.
And for one, she was an introvert who had social anxiety as well. She hated being around big groups of people or even just meeting new people in general. She's a very "this is my zone" type of person, and only allows very limited-- only certain people to enter her zone.
Kasumi goes down the stairs to the lower level.
Interested, she begins to look around the building more as she's never explored this side of campus--even though this is going to be the side where she'll be staying the most due to her classes.
She stops her tracks as she comes across a glass of butterflies for display.
For some reason, she stays behind the glass for a little while, admiring the colors and shapes, different detailings of each butterfly that's displayed behind the glass.
She just thought to herself that it was so pretty, yet fascinating.
All the while, a guy is seen running for his life, his backpack not even on all the way. He seems out of breath and tired, almost like he's only had three hours of sleep.
He runs toward the girl who's got no focus on her surroundings at the moment. She's got her headphones on, her eyes admiring the beauty in front of her. How could she tell when the guy is running towards her, but not really towards her-- instead, the classroom right by her? She wasn't aware of any motion.
THUMP!
. . . . .
"Shoot!"
Just when she decided to be done looking at the butterflies and start turning away to explore other areas, she gets bumped into by a heavy force.
Her headphones clash with her glasses, causing both of them to fall off to the ground.
"I'm so sorry!" the guy exclaims.
Finally, she's able to hear the outside world, which was not as quiet as she assumed to be. She quickly kneels down to pick up her glasses and headphones without saying anything back to the guy.
Yet when she looked up, the guy was already gone in the classroom.
'Tsch, what the fuck was that?'
She raged internally, still on the floor.
She gasps.
"My headphones!!!"
She yelps, looking at how her headphones had broken on one side. She tries to put it back to its place, hoping that it's not really broken, but it was dangling side by side, which indicated that it really was, unfortuneately, broken.
Angry, she clicks her tongue, cursing at the guy who just bumped into her and didn't even bother letting himself properly help her get her things, let alone see that he was the one to break her headphones.
"Hey! My friend bumped into you, didn't he?!"
Kasumi looks up. She is greeted by another guy who seems to befriend the guy that broke her headphones.
"That was your friend?" Kasumi asks coldly, yet awkwardly.
Kasumi looks inside the classroom to see the guy that bumped into her slowly make his way around the students desks to his desginated seat. The professor looks agitated at him.
The guy that stands in front of her lets out a chuckle. "My friend's late for class today. He stayed up all night studying. He can be a bit out of it sometimes. I'm sorry about that."
"It's okay..." Kasumi quietly speaks, but her heart still raging with irritation. She glances down at her headphones that she holds with her hand.
The guy also looks down at her headphones.
"Oh my god," he exclaims. "Did my friend cause that?"
Kasumi didn't know what to say.
"It's fine." she says, then starts to walk away. The feeling of peace and calm ruined.
"Hey!" he turns around to call for her. Kasumi turns back to look at him awkwardly.
'What does this guy want?'
"Your number."
Kasumi gulps.
'Did he just hear my thoughts?'
"H-huh?" Kasumi hums, confused at what the guy's asking for. She asks for a double confirmation.
"Your headphones," he points. "I thought maybe I get your number for my friend so that he could repay you."
Kasumi was frozen. She didn't know what to do nor what to say. Does she tell him no and just walk away? But what would she do about her headphones? At the same time, she felt pressured by him to stay-- well, just the way he looked at her and the way he stayed around to converse with her for the past five minutes.
-------------
"God, these people are so stupid and BLIND!" Kasumi exclaims to her friends, explaining what had happened in the halls while she was on her walk.
"So, did you give your number?" Stephanie asks, kind of smirking a little.
Kasumi rolls her eyes at that question, heaving an irriated sigh. "Yes, just to get things over with."
She glances at her headphones-- her beloved headphones.
"See! What is this?!" she grunts. "How much of a rush could someone be to bump into someone right in front of them?"
She was unhappy.
Suddenly, a text message hits her phone.
Hey, I'm sorry about earlier. My friend told me I broke your headphones. I'll get you new ones. What's the brand you use?
- Byeon Woo Seok
Shocked at the message, she doesn't dare open it nor reply to it yet.
"What is it? He texted already?" Hazel asks, kind of peeking at Kasumi's phone.
"Yeah," she sighs. "I don't know what to say."
It's fine, really.
- Kasumi
Yet, she managed to send a reply a couple minutes later.
Kasumi thinks back to the friend who stuck around and asked for her number.
"I'm sorry. It came off weird, didn't it?" he scratches the back of his neck, gazing down and up back at her after having asked for the girl's phone number without explaining himself first.
Kasumi shakes her head.
"I'm Lee Do-Hyun." he introduces. "My friend's name is Byeon Woo-Seok. I promise-- if my friend doesn't pay you back, you can track us down and break our headphones, too."
She lets out a small chuckle at how ridiculous it sounded.
Then another text message hit her phone.
Hey, Kasumi! This is Lee Do Hyun, the friend of the headphone-breaker?
- Lee Do Hyun
