Bento

Things have been awkward to say the least these past couple days.  All week Ria hasn’t come to the lab, “I have to go home early today,” was all she would say, never looking back at to face me. Guilt? Perhaps she’s feels guilt for getting myself and the others involved in her family as much as she already did.

I sighed, looking to the left of me, noticing her taking notes intensely. Well actually, she was doodling.  My gaze shifted to her feet Is that a bento box? Since when has she eaten bento? Hmm, when was the last time I ate a bento? I usually just buy lunch or even skip it all together when I'm working in the lab.

The bell rang, Ria quickly packing up her belongings and leaving the room.  Guess you’re not coming to lab again huh? Why should I care? Maybe, I can ignore these illogical feelings now. But do I want o? I used to think these types of things would distract me but in reality, I feel more accomplished. I let out a growl, picking up my things to head to the lab. I looked to see if Taiju would be joining me but he was already gone. Must have gone to find Yuzuriha. Whatever. I sighed, walking to the lab and on opening the door, Ria was there. Sitting on the farthest bench. “Ah, finally wanted to use your brain,” I smirked, making fun knowing I spotted the doodling she’s done on her notebook.

She blushed, puffing out her cheeks like a puffer fix. With aggressive movements she grabbed the box next to her and strode over to me. With both hands to presented the box to me. “I made you lunch,” She announced and I just stared at her. Her red face became more flushed as the blood quickly escaped there. “It’s an apology for the other day. You were worried about me and I just shot you down.”

“Kukuku, didn’t realise you cooked,” I laughed taking the box and taking a seat.

“It’s just chemistry,” She pouted sitting opposite. “Though, I did have Yuzuriha help me. I’ve never made a bento before.”
My laugh died down as I noticed the mess of a bento in front of me. Yep, 10 billion percent this does not have the same flare of a traditional bento. “Did you crush this with your big butt?”

“Big butt?” Ria gasped looking back at herself, making me laugh.

I took the chopsticks, taking a bit of the rice and placing it in my mouth. It looks bad but tastes good. Not bad for a first attempt. My eyes widened as an idea popped into my head. “Get excited, because I have a test for you,” Ria cocked her head and raised a brow. “Using your chemistry knowledge, I challenge you to make a bento that’s tastes like a bowl of ramen.”

“Okay, “she stretched out the word. “A weird challenge but a typical Senku one. So, as your assistant I shall take on the challenge and provide it possible.”
