Chapter 1- Meeting Max at the Cafe
I put on my casual clothes, which consist of Skinny jeans and a tight black T-shirt, and put on some mascara and lip gloss. I brush my hair and let it hang loose so you can see my natural curls. Then I lock my door so no one can enter and climb out the window. I land with a soft thump on the porch roof and look in through the window. My sisters are drinking tea with my parents, but not just like that. No, the old fashioned way. Straight back, mini tea cup, 1 sugar cube, hold the small earpiece with 2 fingers and a lifted little finger. Well, why would you want to do that voluntarily?
I grab the edge of the roof firmly and hang on it. The shelter creaks and squeaks, but still keeps my weight. When I hang still I drop. I deftly drop to my knees so you barely hear a sound when I land on the porch on two feet. I wipe my hands, which are dirty with the dirt on the roof, and sprint to the street. Our front yard consists of short-cut grass and one simple path, and if someone in my family sees me leaving, I'm dead.
Once on the street I walk at a leisurely pace to the cafe, where Max is already waiting for me, with a cup of mint tea.
Yummy! I sit on the chair opposite him and take the tea from the table. Aah hot!
Max chuckles. "Every time, huh? You keep getting the tea while it's hot." I give him a look and carefully put the cup of tea on the small table.
"Did you learn well for the final exam tomorrow?" I ask Max. Tomorrow is Monday, and then the exam week starts.
Max studies my face. "Of course, we don't want me to fail so we have to be here for another year?" I nod understandingly. Max had failed the exams last year and was therefore unsuccessful, so he came into my class. "I started learning a month in advance. We don't want to stay here longer than necessary." I say. I look into his eyes and drown in it. That hazelnut brown color is so beautiful, I could look at it for a whole week. And then his hair! It is beautifully blond and charmingly hangs before his eyes.
"Those exams aren't stopping us. We are leaving this town this year." Max says firmly.
Okeeeeee
I really can't sleep so I'm just going to do one more chapter people. Oh, and the picture at the beginning is Joseline's house.
