Holding On (Pt. 2)
Poppy really wanted her baby to live, but she had trouble holding onto whatever hope she had left. And during her pregnancy, her friends and family tried their best to help her.

The morning after the king and queen received the news, Branch noticed that Poppy cried in her sleep. He gave her a gentle hug which she did not return.
“It's going to be okay," he assured her. Poppy just looked down in despair. “How about I make you some blueberry pancakes?"
Poppy looked up at him and nodded. Branch kissed her forehead and left to make breakfast.
Poppy suddenly felt another pain in her stomach. It didn't help that they kept her up most of the night. She rubbed her belly, and the pain eventually stopped.
“I'm sorry," she muttered. “I didn't want this to happen. I don't want you to die."
Branch took over Poppy's duties, but he managed to spend time with her. And when he wasn't there, her friends were.
Poppy, now entering her fifth month, barely got out of bed. She didn't have the energy. Her father decided to visit for emotional support.
“Poppy, I'm sorry you have to go through this," Peppy said softly. “Did Mom go through anything like this?" Poppy asked.
“No," he replied. “But she was afraid of losing you."
Poppy knew what he meant. Her mother, Queen Lumina, was so protective of her daughter, she sacrificed herself for her. Poppy was too little to remember her, though.
“But you may not have to worry," Peppy assured her. “You've made it this far. You can make it the rest of the way."
“I hope so," Poppy sighed. Then, she felt something. It wasn't a pain, it was movement! It wasn't very strong, but it was there. A tiny bit of Poppy's color came back. She was still worried about losing the baby, but at least it was alive.
By the end of her seventh month, Poppy decided that she should try looking on the bright side again and asked the Snack Pack for help.
“How about we start decorating the baby's room?" Biggie suggested. The others agreed.
“That's actually a pretty good idea," Branch said.
Poppy thought about it for a moment, rubbed her big belly, and finally nodded.
“How about we cover the room in purple polka dots?" Cooper suggested. Satin and Chenille shook their heads.
“Purple is a nice color," Satin mentioned.
“But we're not doing polka dots," Chenille finished.
Cooper sighed sadly. “Fine."
“Guys, I think we should let the parents decide what the baby's room should look like," DJ Suki said.
“Thanks, DJ," Branch replied. “I agree on the ‘no polka dots' thing. Poppy, what do you suggest?"
“I like the color green," she replied. “The walls could be green."
“Perfect." Branch smiled.

Poppy was now finished with her eight month. She was still pretty gray, but she knew her baby was still alive.
But that night, she felt an unbearable pain across her stomach. She held onto it tightly and gently shook Branch's shoulder with her free hand.
“Poppy, what's wrong?" he asked groggily.
“It hurts..." she moaned, her breathing became more rapid.
“How badly?" Branch asked.
Poppy screamed in pain and there was a wet spot on the bed. Branch wrapped his arms around her, trying to comfort her.
“It can't be," Poppy cried, beginning to lose more of her color. “It's too early... I can't be..."
“Poppy, it's going to be okay," Branch assured her. “We're going to get to the hospital and have our baby, okay?"
“Branch... I can't," Poppy whispered. “I still had another month left. I wanted to carry it to full term... But I couldn't."
At times like this, Branch knew there was only one thing that could make Poppy feel better.
You with the sad eyes
Don't be discouraged
Oh, I realize
It's hard to take courage
In a world full of people
You can lose sight of it all
The darkness inside you
Can make you feel so small
Poppy's eyes widened. Memories flashed through her mind. Happy memories.
Show me a smile, then
Don't be unhappy
Can't remember when
I last saw you laughing
This world makes you crazy
And you've taken all you can bear
Just call me up
'Cause I will always be there
Right on cue, Poppy's pink happy color began to return to her body.
And I see your true colors shining through
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
Poppy loved hearing those words. For the first time in almost eight months, she began singing.
So don't be afraid to let them show
You're true colors
True colors are beautiful
I see your true colors shining through (true colors...)
I see your true colors
And that's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
You're true colors...
(True colors) are beautiful
Like a rainbow (Oh-oh-oh-ohh-oh, like a rainbow)
Poppy and Branch sang a little more together. And afterwards, Poppy was ready to have her baby.
That night, Poppy gave birth to the future queen of the Trolls. She was tiny, but in perfect health. And when Poppy got the chance to hold her, she instantly fell in love with her. Her struggle to hold on was not in vain.
“She's beautiful," Branch sighed.
“Yes, she is," Poppy agreed. As she stared in awe, Poppy noticed how much the princess looked like her late mother. She had turquoise hair, a round purple nose, and pale pink skin. But her eyes were a light shade of icy blue, just like her daddy's.
“We should name her after your mom," Branch blurted out, as if reading Poppy's mind. “Let's call her Luna."
Poppy looked up at Branch and nodded. She gave the baby to him so he'd get to hold his daughter. Luna looked up at her daddy and reached out to grab his nose. Branch smiled and held her close to his face.
“I'll protect you from whatever the world throws at you," he whispered. “I promise."
Nothing beats the power of love, huh? Be it friends, family, or significant others.
Sorry if this was written kinda sloppily. I know very little about things like this.
I'm not sure what to write next, though. I guess I'll just have to wait for something to pop up.
