Chapter 2
After the hospital appointment, Natalia stood at the bus stop with her brother.
"I really don't know how you managed to get your arm stuck in the bunk bed. You are almost sixteen."
"Talent. Hey, that guy is staring at you." She looked at where Sanjit was pointing and saw Mark staring at her. He walked over to her and waved at her brother.
"I'll drop you off. Jenna is in the car. She might call front seat."
"Jenna? Okay!" Mark smiled when he saw her eyes brighten.
"Who knew my sister and you would get along. Come on." Mark put an arm around her when she stood up but she shrugged it off.
"My brother is here," she whispered to him. "And I'm not comfortable. You can't just hate me one minute and care for me the other."
"Sorry. I just wanna say sorry for being like that the last year. Anyways, come on." Sanjit sat at the back of the car with Natalia.
"Aunt Paige wanted to know how you were doing. You guys talk about stuff?"
"That's something you won't find out. You don't need to know everything I do."
"That's my aunty. She lives in my house," he snapped.
"So what? You gonna ban me from talking to your aunty about my problems I have in life?" Mark looked at her through the mirror and sighed.
"Is this about Mum and Dad getting a divorce? You don't know who to li-"
"Shut up, Sanjit. He doesn't need to know. Like he actually cares. He's got other things to worry about. Making sure he has a life stock of condoms so he doesn't get anyone pregnant from screwing a new one everyday."
"I didn't need to know that..."
"I don't do that! And can you stop using that kind of language around Jenna?! She is only thirteen."
Jenna had her headphones in and was intently playing a game. "She didn't hear."
"You know what? Get out!" Mark pulled up on the side of the road and Natalia gasped. She then nodded her head and pushed her brother out into the pouring rain.
"I knew you really didn't care. Probably only done this to embarrass me. Knew you couldn't be nice for that long. Bye." Mark sighed when he heard the door slam shut. He put his head on the steering wheel and groaned.
"So when are you gonna tell her you like her?"
"I...She won't like me back, Jenna. I've practically bullied her all last year and now a sudden change? She's gonna think something is up."
"Just don't go with Allan's bet. Don't make it into a bet."
"Actually, I think I will make her like me generally and for the bet as well. Two in one."
"I'm warning you not to."
"Yeah, yeah."
