Treason

The dungeon's door was the first thing Elsa saw when her eyes opened. She got up from the bed, a blanket falling off of her. When she saw light emitting from a window, she ran to it, only to be haulted back. Looking behind her, she saw her hands in binds and chains. She pulled against them, straining to take a look outside of the window.

Instead of the summer she had left in, a thick cloud of snow covered the vicinity. Elsa's reflection bounced off of the window as the panic returned and all hope once again fled. "Oh, no...what've I done...?"

The door opened and Hanna came in, placing a lantern down. Elsa turned back, attempting to approach the princess. "Why did you take me here?" she demanded, attempting to sound threatening.

But she gently approached, keeping up the look of kindness. "I couldn't just let them kill you," she replied.

"But I'm a danger to Arendelle! Get Andar."

Her arms held the other, trying to keep herself warm. "Andar has not returned."

The queen turned away to look out the window, towards the mountains where she had last seen her brother. He was still out there and could have been hurt and it was all her fault.

"If you would just stop winter...bring back summer..." Her breath came out in puffs of warm into the cold air.

Elsa shut her eyes, trying to not feel. But she could not. Not knowing that his brother was still out there, cold and probably afraid. And with a strange girl.

"Please..."

She turned back to Hanna, her eyes filled with tears. "Don't you see...? I can't." She looked down at the cuffs her hands were in, biting her lip, then looked back up at Hanna. "You have to tell them to let me go."

Hanna shifted her eyes at from her, then back. Something seemed...different. As if a light had gone out in her eyes. But Elsa, in her misery, failed to make proper note of it.

"I will do what I can," she said and, taking back up her lantern, left the queen in the dungeon. Elsa watched her go, the fear settling back in. Feeling something slippery in her cuffs, she looked down to see the she was turning them to solid ice.

-

Sven ran through as quickly as the snow would allow him to with Kristoff and Y/n on top, holding on to Andar.

She looked down at Andar, took off her hat, and put it on his head, noticing that more white had appeared. "You're okay, Andar. I've got you."

"Come on, buddy, faster!" Kristoff called, the panic rising in his voice.

Next to them, Olaf slid down in the snow, having a fun time doing so, in spite of the situation. He jiggled with the bumps, then got sent off from a rock that stuck out of the mountain. "I'll meet you guys at the castle!" he called as he sailed through the air.

"Stay out of sight, Olaf!" Kristoff called as they galloped away.

Now out of sight, his voice yelled out, "I will!" Not even a minute later, to some random woman in the village, "Hello!"

"AHHHHH! IT'S ALIVE!"

They ran through the village and down the cobblestone rode, up to the front of the castle. Two guards stood atop, watching out. One called out, "It's Prince Andar!" He went down to greet him, his colleague following him.

Pulling up, Y/n got off and took Andar into her arms. He looked up at her, shivering. His face had gone white-white and his lips, usually a deep pink color, were blue. "Are you...gonna be okay...?"

She only smiled, gazing down at the prince. "Don't worry, we'll be okay."

"Prince Andar!" Gerda came out of the door, followed by Kai, rushing to her prince. "You had us worried sick!"

"My Lord." Kai was astonished by his hair.

"Get him warm," Y/n said, only Kai turning to stop and listen, Gerda too busy fretting over Andar as she gently helped him inside. "Find Princess Hanna. Please."

"We will. Thank you."

He took him in with Gerda, leaving Y/n to call out, "Make sure he's safe!" The doors shut in her face.

Andar, who still had her hat on, looked behind him, the last thing he was able to see being her face of...something sad. He knew that look, not by name, but feel...he was feeling it at that moment.

Sven went up to the door and sniffed it, able to smell Andar. He whimpered sadly, being stuck away from them. Kristoff got off and put a hand on Y/n's head. She shook it off and walked away. Sven watched for a minute, groaning loudly, then looked back at the door until Kristoff led him away.

-

"I'm going back out to look for Prince Andar," Hanna announced to the dignitaries.

"You cannot risk going out there again!" the French one cried, reaching out slightly.

She pulled away, more firmly, "If anything should happen to him -"

Patiently, the Spanish one reminded him, "If anything were to happen to the prince, you are all Arendelle has left."

She paused for a moment, considering his words.

But before she could act upon them, Gerra and Kai entered, bringing in the shaking prince.

"Princess Hanna," Kai called.

"Andar!" She rushed to him, taking him into his arms. "You're so cold."

Andar clung to the princess' shirt. "Hanna, you have to kiss me!"

"What?"

"Now!"

"Whoa."

She tried to calm him down, but he threw his arms around her neck, begging, "Now!"

"Slow down."

Gerda backed away, guiding the men out. "We'll give you two some privacy."

When they had left, Hanna asked, "What happened out there?"

"Elsa struck me with her powers."

"You said she'd never hurt you."

"I was wrong," he admitted painfully, some from the ice that pounded in his heart, but mostly from the betrayal. He groaned, falling into his fiancée.

"Andar!" Hanna helped him to the couch as he lurched forward in pain, lying him down.

"She froze my heart and...only an act of true love can save me."

Hanna blinked in realization. "A true love's kiss..." she whispered. Cupping Andar's cheek, she made her way down to his chin and lifted his head. She leaned in with her lips pursed, the prince lifting his head and closing his eyes.

But at the last minute, she stopped and opened her eyes, looking at him, pitying.

"Oh, Andar...if only there were someone out there who loved you."

She let go of his face and walked to the window, leaving Andar in shock. "What...?" He looked at her by the window, unable to see his face. "Y - you said you did..."

"I lied." She turned away, shutting the curtains. When she turned back to him, he saw not the girl that she adored, but a shell of him.

"I knew as thirteenth child of a king, that I'd have to marry into the throne somewhere." He took off his glove, taking a few steps to her.

"What are you talking about...?"

She ignored his question and turned her back to him, now by the fireplace. "And I heard of Elsa and I saw my chance to strike a romance and marry an heir. I don't really swing that way. I would have if I had to."

"Hanna..." he tried with heartbreak evident in his voice.

He took the water pitcher on the table with his now-bare hand. "Besides, it was instantly clear that no one was getting close to her. Then I bumped right into you and got a clue into how starved for love you were," she said to him with a dry laugh. "So desperate, you agreed to marriage on the spot and I thought I'd stage an accident or a coup d'etat."

"Hanna...!" He reached forward, falling off the couch with a grunt. "No...stop..."

The room went dark, hiding most of Hanna's' face. But he could still see the evil green glint that were her eyes. "But then you siblings doomed each other."

"No...please..."

"And it's worked out well." She put the pitcher back down on the table, chuckling.

Hanna:
Once I kill Elsa and give you this ring...

She shoved a ring on his finger, despite his resistance. Any sense of heartbreak or love for that woman was gone at the threat of hurting his sister.

Hanna:
I'll be Queen Hanna of Arendelle!

Glaring up at her, he spat, "You're no match for Elsa."

She ignored him, striding to the door.

"You won't get away with this...!" Andar struggled to say.

"Oh..." She smirked through the doorway, her head still visible to him. "I already have." She shut the door, the knob jiggling as she locked it.

Andar crawled to the door and tried to pull both open, ultimately failing. Only able to whimper, he tried to call for help. "Please...somebody...help..." He groaned again, his hair now completely white. Huddling in on himself, he begged into the void, "Please...please..."

-

The duke paced from the window to the wall with his arms wrapped around himself, the dignitaries sitting at the table, all in wait for the prince.

"It's getting colder by the minute!" he exclaimed, not knowing that the very princess was waiting behind the wall, listening in. "If we don't do something soon, we'll all freeze to death!"

Hanna stepped in front of the doorway, her eyes downcast, seemingly in a state of shock.

"Princess Hanna." The duke approached him as the dignitaries stood.

Slowly, and with care in his words, he announced, "Prince Andar is...dead."

All three seemed to jolt in shock.

"What?!"

"No..."

"Mon dieu!"

"What happened to him?" The duke took her by the forearm and led her to a chair, where he sat, his eyes still somehow both unfocused and focused. She fell into it with a thump, taking a moment to speak again. "He was killed...by Queen Elsa."

Gasps from everyone, even the duke, who could only look with pity upon Hanna as he mumbled, "His own sister..."

She could barely comprehend the words - or so she trying to portray - and added, voice thick, "At least we got to say our marriage vows...before he...he..." Her head went into her hands as she began to 'sob'. "Before he died in my arms...!"

The room was silent except for her crying. The first to speak up again was the duke to the ground, moreso to himself. "There can be no doubt now." He lifted his head to face the dignitaries, harshly stating, "Queen Elsa is a monster and we are all in grave danger."

The Spanish dignitary said nothing against the queen, but spoke up, putting his arm around Hanna. "Princess Hanna, Arendelle looks to you."

She lifted her head, face suspiciously dry, and took a moment to speak, lest she seem too excited. "With a heavy heart...I charge Queen Elsa with treason..." She closed her eyes, scrunching up her face, then opened them and made herself look to the rest of the men, still straining her voice. "...and sentence her to death."

-

The dungeon froze around Elsa as she looked out, seeing the storm grow stronger. Her head whipped to the door when she heard the sound of running and men shouting. All she could do was tug desperately at the chains. She could not die; she had to find Andar.

"It's frozen shut!" one of the men cried, more ice still coming to cover the windows. The queen pulled with all her might, praying that her bondage would soon give way.

-

The guards caved the door in on itself. Hanna was already pushing past them. With nobody else to see her, she looked with disgust at the hole in the wall, the room empty. The shackles lay on the ground, bent so hard, they were broken.
