CHAPTER EIGHT
*Not edited *
This morning I woke up earlier than usually and decided to make breakfast for myself, I never get to do that, so why not? Jennie was still asleep as I finished making my eggs so I went outside to enjoy the fresh snow falling onto the group; it truly was a winter wonderland. It was freezing outside, but my nice hot coffee kept me warm.
Jennie eventually came outside, shocked to see me up so early.
"What?" I said, turning around to get the full look on her face.
"You woke at six," she said looking as if she just witnessed a murder.
"Thank you Dr. Points out the obvious a lot, you should get ready and perhaps not be so lazy," I joked, watching her shocked look turn into a smile.
After that whole ordeal, we reached the hospital at the usual time and I continued with my usual routine, it was a boring day, which I suppose is a good thing.
I finished at six pm. I was waiting for Walter so that I could do more work at the society. I had to find them some fresh fruits and for that I had to go nearby forest which was almost populated, but was still a forest. I hated going there alone due to the trees blocking out the sunlight, but all the times John had to be with me. And today, he had an important appointment so he couldn't come.
"Looks like you were waiting for me," a voice said in that sarcastic manor I hated, "And for so long too, why, don't I just feel all special."
"Hello, rich boy," I greeted him, rolling my eyes, "maybe because I have to hurry up and go, I don't want to be too late."
"I know that," he sharply replied.
"Before that I will be going to that gloomy forest first. You know about it right? I have to get my children fresh fruits. You know they are really delicious and good for health. Let's get going then," I started walking towards the exit, not bothering to turn around to make sure he was actually coming.
"Well it's upto you if you want to join me or directly go the society. It will take half an hour. " I told him.
"It's rather dark outside, I can go with you if you want," he held up the keys to his super fast luxury car.
"Um, I think I would be bett-"
"Perfect!" he grinned, interrupting me, "let's get going." He put his arm around me in a way I couldn't get myself out of and forced me to the car.
I pushed him away when we got there, "Don't do that again, rich boy."
"Loving the nickname, really," he opened the door for me, "Please, age before beauty."
He closed the door for me before letting himself in, going to the driver's seat.
"Wait, you don't have one of your servants driving?" I asked, becoming fearful.
He just laughed, "Of course not! They always go the speed limit!" I gripped onto my seat and prepared myself for the worst ride of my life.
Never had I've been so terrified in my entire life, with the speeds he was going, a three minute drive turned into a thirty second one. He looked over at me, waiting for a response.
"Y-you were faster than an aeroplane," I stuttered and laughed nervously.
"Was this a compliment?" he leaned in and smiled.
"I'll let you figure that one out," I said and quickly got out of the car, his smile was so creepy.
We walked through the woods for a while, the sun was almost completely gone and I could see nothing except for some bushes and high oak trees.
"So," I started, breaking the long uncomfortable silence, "do you like long walks?"
"Oh, yes, through the beach with my long awaited love one at sunset, that's where I want my first kiss," he said, his eyes gleaming.
"Really?" I asked, completely shocked by his answer.
"Fuck no, I prefer being alone," he started to laugh, "What's with the cliché conversation starter? Trying to find the man of your dreams?"
"No," I said sternly, "That's what my friends want me to do. They want the happily ever after marriage and they think that'll make me happy, and they won't stop nagging me about it."
"Really?" he raised an eyebrow, "Well then, Dr. Exposition, your asshole friends have less of a life than you. Trying to play hookup is a pathetic hobby."
"You're the asshole here, you know that, rich boy?"
"And proud of it," he messed up my hair.
I decided to let go of the conversation after that, while walking through the forest we collected some oranges and other herbs. It was getting colder and I shivered and it seemed I was going to freeze.
"Let's go, doctor," he said noticing my constant shivering.
We went to the area where he parked his car I was alone with him in a dark forest, I personally did not like this, and I wanted to hurry up and go home. I don't want Jennie nagging me some more for being home so late. He started the car, but it looked like the car had punctured. It wasn't working and he looked at me curiously.
"Shit, it's not working."
"A luxury car isn't working? How long have you had this thing?"
"About a year," he said, trying to start it up again.
"It's worse than Apple, I didn't know that was possible," I joked.
He laughed at this and got out his phone to call someone.
"So, we're gonna be here a while, aren't we?" I asked, getting back on topic.
He ignored me and started talking on the phone, and after about two minutes, he hung up and replied, "My other car will be coming soon, but it will take some time."
"Fantastic," I sighed, looking out the window.
"What about sitting at that wooden bench inside?" he smirked.
"In the forest?" I asked, "I was just shivering out there, I'll pass."
"I can always light a bush on fire, that way the both of us can be warm," he suggested.
"Oh yes," I started sarcastically, "let's start a fire in the woods, what could possible go wrong?"
Walter groaned, "You're so paranoid, but fine, if you're going to ruin the fun, go ahead."
"What are you, twelve?" I scoffed with disbelief. I turned to look out the other window, not bothering to look at that immature ass.
Though after a few minutes, he asked, "Do you live alone?"
"No, I live with a friend."
"Any close family?"
"Nope," I said shortly, not wanting to continue this conversation.
"Well, do you have a boyfriend then?"
I looked over at him, trying not to burst out into laughter, "You're joking?"
He shrugged, "Might as well tried, I'm bored."
"Well, no, I don't, what about you, rich boy?"
"Nah," he chuckled, "I'm not the ladies man, and money can't buy love."
I was actually surprised by this, not a ladies' man? Impossible, surely girls would be all over him, at least for a bit of his dough. But my thoughts were interrupted by the blinding car lights pulling up to the side of the car. "I think your ride is here," I commented.
"Oh, perfect timing, as usual, let's get going then," he said getting out of his soon to be destroyed car. We quickly dropped off the fresh fruit at the society before heading back to my house; I said a small thank you and left him to go inside the warm house.
I was late... Again, and I didn't want to deal with Jennie and her nosy personality. What a surprise, she was staring at me angrily.
"Whatever it is, Jennie, I don't care I just want to sleep," I said instantly going up the stairs.
"I can see some changes and I want you to think about it tomorrow," she called up from the bottom of the stairs.
"Huh, she keeps talking like someone actually cares," I said just loud enough for her to hear. I laid down on my bed, a smile creeping across my face as my head hit my pillows, I was going to sleep well tonight, I was sure of it.
