two.

"THIS PLACE IS CUTE" Evangeline remarked as her and Drew sat in the dimly lit diner. "Yeah, it's very chill" He replied as they were passed menus at their booth. Drew didn't even pick his up as Evangeline just stared at it, as she was a very indecisive person. "There's so much stuff on here, it's making my head hurt" She muttered as he chuckled while she turned the menu over to him. "Trust, get this" He said pointing to the Doc's special as she read the description. "Biscuits and Gravy...Is that like scones?" She asked him as he furrowed his brows. "You haven't had biscuits and gravy before?" He asked the girl in front of him as she hesitantly nodded. "Is it good?" She asked him as he nodded. "You're getting it" He said surely as she laughed. "What if I don't like it?" She questioned the boy, giving him a skeptical look. "Then you can get something else," He replied as she shook her head. "Then I would have to pay for another one" She responded as he gave her a weirded out look. "Who said you were ever going to pay?" He replied, smiling seemingly confused by her statement, as the waitress came up to them. The waitress arrived, and Drew ordered for both of them. "We'll have two Doc's Specials, and a couple of milkshakes—one chocolate and one vanilla."

As the waitress walked away, Evangeline rested her chin on her hand, watching Drew with a mix of amusement and curiosity. "You seem pretty confident in your choices. What if I hate it?" Drew shrugged with a smirk. "Then I guess I'll have to take you somewhere else to make up for it." Evangeline laughed, her nerves easing. "You've got it all figured out, huh?" . "Maybe," Drew replied, his eyes twinkling. "I like to keep things interesting." He finished as she rolled her eyes. "So, what's your deal?" She asked, placing her head in her hands as she placed her elbows on the table. "What do you mean?" He asked the girl confused as she gave him a small smile. "You basically save me on the red carpet and then you insist on watching the premiere with me instead of with your friends. Then after you take me to meet said friends and now we're here at a diner even though you have an after party you could be at. Something doesn't add up" She explained in her usually soft tone as his face grew amused. "You're not a trusting person, are you?" He asked as she nodded. "Why would I be, I barely know you Starkey" She replied as Drew leaned back in his seat, studying her with a playful glint in his eye. "Fair enough. You barely know me, Evangeline, but that's kind of the point. Doesn't the idea of getting to know someone new intrigue you even a little?"

"Okay, let's get to know each other then Mr.Starkey"

"Okay, I'll admit it was good" She said as they finished their food. "See? I told you," Drew replied smugly, finishing the last sip of his chocolate milkshake. "Don't get cocky, Starkey. It's just one meal," she teased, her lips curling into a small grin. "Oh, I'm definitely taking credit for this win," he shot back, flashing her a grin of his own. "Don't worry, next time you can choose mine" He finished as she smiled. "There's gonna be a next time?" She asked as he looked up at her. "Do you want there to be Evangeline?" He replied to her question as she shrugged playfully. "Maybe, I would have to think about it" She joked to the boy as he shook his head laughing a little. "Okay then, text me when you make your decision" He said as she looked at him confused. "I don't have your number" She said to the boy. "Then get my number" He said passing his phone to her as she stared at it for a moment before laughing a little while passing hers to him. She added her number to his phone and saved it as 'Evangeline 🧐' while he did the same, saving his contact as 'my new favorite boy 🙂'. He handed the phone back to her as she glanced at his new contact, rolling her eyes and laughing at the name. The waitress picked up the empty plates as Drew called for the check. Evangeline went to grab her wallet she kept in her purse as their check was brought out but Drew quickly put her hand down handing his card to the woman. "What was the reason?" She asked the man as the waitress left. "I told you, you weren't gonna pay" He answered smiling at her as she shook her head.

"But I could've" She answered

"But you were never going too" He replied, making the girl roll her eyes playfully. "How'd you get to the premiere?" He asked as he left a hundred on the table while they both got up. "My driver but I sent him with Joey and Angellette. I'll just get a uber home" She said to the man as he shook his head opening the diner door's for her to pass through. "Don't, I'll drive you" He spoke, making the girl smirk. "Such a gentleman," She commented, smirking.

"I try," he replied, holding the door open for her as they walked to his car parked nearby. He opened the door for her as she looked surprised at the action, mainly because none of the men she had gone out with had done that for her. As they settled into the car, Evangeline glanced around, her fingers brushing against the smooth leather of the seats. It smelled faintly of cedar and mint, a surprisingly soothing combination. He connected his phone to the aux as he searched her name in the spotify search bar. He pressed on a random song by her, prompting her to turn immediately as 'Comfortable' played in the car's speakers. "Why're you playing this?" She asked. He smirked as he glanced at her. "Why not??"

Evangeline groaned, slumping slightly in her seat. "It's weird listening to myself" She said, turning to him to be met with an amused glint in his eyes. "What do you mean? You wrote it" He said gently as she rolled her eyes. "I obviously know that but it's like when you watch yourself when you were a literal child doing cringey dumb shit. I wrote this almost 9 years ago" Drew chuckled, shaking his head as he adjusted the volume. "I'm actually enjoying it." He said while listening to the lyrics.

"You're insufferable" She said sighing.

"You like it"

When they pulled up in front of her apartment building, the soft glow of the streetlights bathed the quiet street in a golden hue. Drew shifted the car into park and turned to face her. "Alright, here we are," he said. "Safe and sound." "That we are, indeed" She says unbuckling her seatbelt. "Thank you for being such an amazing passenger Ms. Bailey" He said as she rolled her eyes at the flattery. "Thank you for the ride Starkey. And for not being boring" She said, giving him a gentle smile as she turned to him playfully. "High praise," he teased, his grin playful. She laughed softly and opened the door. Before stepping out, she paused, leaning down to look at him one more time.

"Goodnight, Drew," .

"Goodnight, Evangeline," he replied, his voice warm.

She walked into her home to see her sister knocked out on the couch, phone open to see her and Julie we're on the phone, both sound asleep. She pulled out her phone as she headed into the bedroom.
