Chapter 20: Survival
Blood.
It was everywhere.
In the snow, on the path, dripping from a knife that was dropped with a thud and clatter of steel.
The murderer stared at his lover who stood before him, still and yet trembling. He didn't know what to do. What to say.
His body had frozen. Just staring.
His lover could have died. Could...
...
and was only 0.1 Hp less from dying before him.
Papyrus had a horrified look, his eyes were wide and guilt shone in them. He stumbled back, his hands shaking slightly as he stared at his brother who was still staring at him, tears running down his face. A slash across his chest that screamed death. Yet didn't at the same time.
His brother had survived.
But he had survived from him, from his stupid actions. How the hell could he feel happy that he was still living!? It was all his fault. He was the one who dared hold that knife and use it like the damn coward he was.
He reached a trembling hand towards him. "B-Blue..." His voice felt raw, quivering.
Blue didn't move. Staring into nothing as blood trickled down from the corner of his mouth, dripping down. But his pupils were moving in a shaking motion until he looked over to him, very slow, forced movements. Showing just how much it hurt for him.
Papyrus cringed a little, "I-I'm.. I-I didn't mean to h-hurt you- I-I.. I-I'm so sorry-" He apologised, even though it was pointless and meant nothing to Blue or Dust who was now staring at him with rage.
His brother narrowed his eyes slightly.
"Forgiving you would be the worst decision I could ever make." His voice was emotionless and yet weak. Hardly shaking.
Dust swallowed and stumbled towards his lover.
More blood dripped from his chest, his eyes narrowing. Cold and empty.
Then he collapsed. His legs giving away under him. Luckily Dust caught him, landing on his knees with a large thud. His widened as he shook Blue slightly, "Blue?! Shit- Come on!" He gritted his teeth, slamming a portal open beside him with the swipe of a hand.
The calm, peaceful world of Undertale lay out from within. Snow gently falling down from nowhere. Dust grunted, picking Blue up and pressed a hand against his wound, looking back to Papyrus with a snarl.
"The next time I see you.
You're fucking dead."He snapped before vanishing into the portal which closed with a thud.
Papyrus was left standing in the Snowdin clearing. Blood everywhere and around him.
Alone.

Dust looked around Undertale and gritted his teeth, teleporting through the au. Into Snowdin, then Waterfall, and finally Hotlands. He squinted at the extreme heat but kept running, occasionally glancing down at Blue until he finally reached the steel door of Alphys' lab. No way was he going to stay in Underswap and go to Undyne's lab while Papyrus the maniac was running around-
With a strong fist, he banged against the door and yelled, "ALPHYS!?"
Although he was seen as a dangerous person Alphys had aided him before.
The door slid open and Alphys was standing there, adjusting her glasses slightly, "D-Dust..?"She asked, looking up at him then to the skeleton in his arms. She swallowed and stumbled back, "o-o-oh my."
Her eyes widened at the amount of blood and then there was the small flicker of a screen which struggled to appear above Blue which showed the trembling and glitching number of HP. The HP he was on was horrifying and nothing could explain why it was glitching unnaturally.
She hurried them inside, muttering to Dust to get Blue on the bed which she pointed out over her shoulder and she scurried around and searched through the rows of cupboards at the back of the room.
Dust laid Blue on the bed, his hands dripping in the other's blood as he tried his best to somewhat reassure his lover.
Alphys rushed over with a box of supplies, putting them down on the nearby table. She put a clawed-hand on Dust's back. "I need t-to do this o-on my own... I-I promise you, he'll be f-fine." She forced an uncertain smile, Dust hesitantly nodded and walked out, with a glance over his shoulder of course.
The door closed with a small thud and Alphys got to work straight away with a second thought, using the tools, medicine and little magic she could provide to heal Blue.
His soul was very slowly starting to crack and she rushed to it, concentrating as she started to heal and aid to its wounds as much as she could. Keeping a close eye on Blue's unconscious body in case... dusting occurred.
She wasn't going to let him go that easily and had no intention to fail on healing him.
Meanwhile, Dust was pacing around in front of the door, gritting his teeth, his eyes wide. What if something bad happens to Blue...?
What if... he...
The murderer shook his head and breathed in sharply, halting his pacing and staring at the door for a moment, resting a hand on the cold iron plates which covered it plus the few small windows which he didn't dare glance through.
He could still remember it all too well.
There was so much blood.
It was so cold.
And he thought he had just lost everything in that split-second. All of it.
But his lover had survived, had fought death... was still fighting death.
And to think that his own brother had done that to him. He could remember how that knife had swiped at him and then there was a blur that appeared in front of him before he closed his eyes to welcome what was to happen. What happened never came to him and all he could see was blood that wasn't his and his best friend, his lover trembling.
US!Papyrus didn't deserve to live.
Dust snarled, gripping his hands into fists tightly at his sides. He shouldn't have left him alive, he should have just picked that knife up again and plunged it into the other's soul without a second of hesitation.
Should have heard his screams, should have laughed at the sight of him dusting. And yet he had the stupidity to just leave with nothing more than a pathetic warning.
His eyes flashed with orange before he squeezed them shut.
Papyrus appeared next to him, a bored expression on his face as he looked around the hallway they were in.
"WELL, BROTHER. THIS IS QUITE UNFORTUNATE."He gave a sly smile, not one of happiness which he may have once had. Only a smile laced with poison.
"ALL THIS GUILT AND SUFFERING. ALL OF THESE STUPID FEELINGS... AND YOU COULD HAVE SO EASILY EVADED THEM AND HAVE NO PROBLEMS!
IF YOU ONLY JUST KILLED THAT SKELETON AND HIS BROTHER AND DESTROYED HIS PATHETIC WO-"
Dust snarled savagely like an animal, throwing his fist at Papyrus. "SHUT UP!? I DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT WHAT YOU SAY!?" He yelled, Papyrus quickly vanishing and letting Dust's fist hit nothing but the empty air. He panted and glanced around, expecting his dead brother to return and continue with his complaining and unwanted talk.
Luckily for Dust Papyrus didn't reappear.
~~~
Hours passed and Dust was now sitting against the wall opposite the iron doors, staring at them tiredly, hardly letting himself blink or rest.
Every second felt like an hours, and at this point he was struggling to wait any longer, almost wanting... Needing to kick the door open and run in.
However, he kept the urge controlled, patiently waiting no matter how much it ate away at him.
He glanced down at himself for a moment, at his hands and clothes. He hasn't given himself anytime to clean himself up. His hoodie was covered in dirt and blood, his hands stained with dried blood as well which he cringed at and looked away from.
His knees were covered in mud, probably due to the fight which had occurred hours ago.
He wished it never happened.
The iron doors in front of him groaned slightly as they opened and Alphys stood there, looking down at a few notes and flicking through them with her small claws before looking up at Dust who immediately sprang onto his feet.
She adjusted her glasses, "h-e's in a s-s-stable condition. I-I was able to heal his s-s-soul and I'm leaving him to test so he was gradually heal himself."
Dust swallowed and nodded, "c-can... Can I see him..?" He asked unsurely, trying to look at what was behind her.
A nod from Alphys who turned and walked back into the room, beckoning him to come and follow after him.
The two walked over to a bed where Blue was laying on, bandages were wrapped around his chest tightly and he was breathing softly, unconscious.
Dust bit his lip, trembling a little as he got closer to Blue.
Alphys looked away solemnly. "He... If you had come a second or a minute later then..." She sighed sharply. "He might not have made it."
A nod and Dust sat down beside Blue, caressing his cheeks gently and going quiet. The scientist quickly left them be, closing the doors behind her.
"I love you Blue..." Dust mumbled quietly, still caressing his lover. "A-and... I am so sorry. I never wanted you to get hurt... n-never. "
"I promise you... I won't let Papyrus get away with this so easily. " He carefully squeezed Blues's hand.
"I promise."
