Jessica quickly showered then dressed. She grabbed her car keys and rushed outside.

She drove to Evan's house to give him an answer. She was very nervous for Phil's and Emily's reaction. But, her determination kept her from turning the car around.

Finally arriving, she turned off of her car then quickly rushed to the front door and knocked.

Phil answered and he let Jessica inside. Jessica asked where Evan was. Emily stood close by her father with her arms crossed and a displeased look on her face. Jessica didn't care. All she wanted was to find her happiness.

"He's in the backyard." Phil replied.
Emily wanted to stop Jessica but Phil stopped her from doing so.

Jessica walked to the backyard and found Evan sitting under a tree, reading a book. She smiled and she approached him.

"Evan..." she said.

Evan looked up and smiled. He stood up and walked over to her.

"Jessica! I'm so glad you're here." Evan said.
"Evan, I have an answer for you." Jessica said as she took his hands in hers. "And my answer is yes."

Evan's smile widen and happy tears appear in his eyes. He wrapped his arms around Jessica, picked her up and spun her around.

They laughed then Evan placed her back down. They kissed each other for a moment then they knew they had to tell Phil and Emily.

They walked back inside and told Emily and Phil they needed to speak to them.
They all met in the kitchen and Evan and Jessica sat next to each other at the kitchen table holding each other's hands.

Again, Emily crossed her arms but didn't speak.

"Em, Dad..." Evan began. "Jessica said yes. She wants to marry me."

Phil sighed and said. "Wow, I didn't think Evan was serious about this. This is a shock."

"Dad, I know you don't understand so, I'm going to ask. Dad, why did you marry mom?" Evan asked.
"Because he loved her of course!" Emily answered.
"Emily, I asked dad the question." Evan said feeling annoyed. "Let him answer it."

Emily rolled her eyes and just stood back.

"What did you love about her?" Evan asked his father.
"Oh jeez! This is ridiculous!" Emily said moving to stand in front of Evan. "Dad, we need to put a stop to this!"

"You know what Em..." Evan said finally having enough. "I don't know why you don't like Jessica. She's been nothing but caring and helpful to dad and me when mom died." He then looked right into her eyes and said. "You know, there are things I don't like about Michael and also his parents. They didn't want me at your wedding party because they were too worried I would embarrass them in front of their friends. Jessica has never done that to me. She has never been embarrassed by me. Also, there are things you do I don't like but because I love you, I look past those things." He sighed then continued. "Why can't you just see that Jessica and I are in love with each other and we want to get married?"

It was quiet for a moment then Phil finally answered Evan's question.

"I fell in love with your mom because she was gentle, good and caring." He said. "And because she loved me."
"That's why I love Jessica." Evan said. "We love each other."

Evan could tell his father was softening to the idea but Emily still had her concerns.

"We get that Evan." Emily said gently. "But the question is...and I'm trying hard not to offend anyone, but why does Jessica love you?"
"You need to ask Jessica that." Evan said.

Emily turned to Jessica and asked. "Why do you love my brother?"

Jessica looked at Emily and said. "You're young Emily, so I'm not sure you'll understand. Because...because I've just begun to understand my feelings for Evan. But, when you get older, the need for companionship change." Jessica stood up so she could be on the same level as Emily. "I've only ever loved one man for a very long time and he loved me. After he died, I promised myself that I wouldn't love again. I built a wall around my heart to protect it. But...but then I met Evan. Evan fell in love with me first but slowly, Evan was breaking down that wall I built. Believe me, I didn't want to find love or a relationship. I fell in love with Evan, because he's Evan. He gave me back hope of having love back in my life again."

"It's different having a kid like Evan." Phil said. "The rest of us, we give our hearts away a few times then have our hearts ripped out and...and we build up walls for protection. With Evan, there's a part that will always be like a kid. Open and trusting." He stops for a moment then continues. "I guess it just scares us because it's easy for Evan to let himself love."

Jessica walked back to sit with Evan. He grabbed her hand and held it tight.

Emily stayed quiet for a moment and thought about everything that was said. She couldn't even imagine losing Michael, so she couldn't understand what it was to lose a husband. But what she did understand was being in love.

Emily finally relaxed then said. "Mr. And Mrs. Evan Peters. It has a nice ring to it."

Everyone felt a weight being lifted from the room. Smiles spread across their faces and Evan kissed the back of Jessica's hand.

They made it through the most difficult part of telling Emily and Phil. The next step now was to plan their wedding.

*October 10*

Jessica and Evan decided to have a small intimate wedding. They invited only close family and friends.

The wedding and reception was taking place in Jessica's backyard. The backyard was now beautifully decorated and everything was set.

Evan was in a guest room getting ready with Phil's help. Phil also decided to have a talk with Evan in case Evan and Jessica become intimate. They had had this talk before, but Phil thought it was important to have this talk again.

In Jessica's bedroom, Sarah and Lily were helping Jessica get ready.

Sarah was so giddy because her best friend was finally going to be happy again.

Lily did Jessica's make up then Sarah helped Jessica into her wedding dress.

Jessica found an off white bohemian type wedding dress. Her hair was curled and a flower crown was placed on her head.

Jessica looked at herself in the mirror once she was ready and smiled. She then bit her lip nervously. She couldn't believe she was getting married again. But she was so happy she was.

Sarah and Lily stood back and smiled with tears in their eyes.

Sarah walked over to Jessica and said. "Jess, we are so happy for you. I'm so glad you were able to tear down those walls that you had built up around you. You deserve to happy, Jessica and with Evan I know you will be."

Lily stepped forward too and said. "I bet Danny is looking down at you now with a huge smile on his face. I bet he's happy for you."

Jessica got emotional thinking about Danny but she held her tears at bay. She nodded her head and said. "I know he is."

Sarah and Lily gave Jessica a hug and they stayed that way for a moment, until Emily knocked on the door.

The group of three break apart and see Emily. Sarah kept her composure. She was still upset that Emily has treated Jessica so badly but, today wasn't the time or place for negativity.

Sarah and Lily had been introduced to Emily during the planning of the wedding.

"Sorry to interrupt. Can I speak to Jessica alone?" Emily asked.

Sarah and Lily nodded. They gave Jessica a hug and a kiss on her cheek before leaving the room.

Emily stepped inside and smiled a little. She held out a gift for Jessica to take.

"Don't worry, it's not a bomb or anything." Emily said trying to be funny.

Jessica chuckled and took the gift from Emily.
She opened it and inside was an apron. She unfolded it and smiled.

"Your very own apron." Emily said.
"Thank you." Jessica said with a smile.

It was quiet for a moment then Emily said. "You know, I'm not crazy about Michael's parents either." She laughed. She sighed then said. "Jessica, I'm so sorry for the way I treated you. I really thought I was protecting Evan from heart break but...but he doesn't need protecting from you. I can tell you love him and I know you'll do anything to protect him. Thank you for loving my brother, Jessica."

Jessica smiled wide and Emily stepped forward to hug her. They hugged for a moment then Emily left Jessica on her own.

Jessica took a deep breath then grabbed her bouquet, which Evan had made using the flowers he had planted.

Jessica walked outside and walked towards her future.

Evan looked up and saw Jessica. He was in awe. She looked so beautiful and he couldn't help but tear up.

Everyone quickly rushed to their seats and Jessica began to walk down the aisle.

Lola walked with Jessica down the aisle as she represented Danny being there for her. She believed Danny would want it this way.

Once Jessica reached the altar, Lola sat quietly beside Jessica.

The minister called everyone to order then said. "Before we begin, Evan would like to read a quote from his favorite book."

Evan nodded then reached into his tux jacket pocket and pulled out a piece of paper.

Evan cleared his throat and read. "To have been loved so deeply, even though the person who loved us is gone, will always give us protection forever."

Jessica recognized that quote and was shocked that Evan knew it.

"That's from..." Jessica began.
"Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." Evan said proudly. "Sarah got me the book when I asked her to get for me. I wanted to read it to prove to myself that I could read a book like that. And that quote just jumped out at me and it fits perfectly now."

Jessica smiled through her tears and nodded. "It is perfect." She whispered.

Everyone even Emily had tears in their eyes. They could see the love that Evan and Jessica had for each other. It was so strong.

Before they knew it, the minister said. "I now pronounce you, husband and wife. Evan, you may kiss your bride."

Evan gently pulled Jessica towards him and kissed her lips.

Jessica and Evan weren't sure what their future held. But what they did know, was that together, they could get through anything.

This is however how the movie ended but I want to expand this story further.

I want to write what happens after the wedding and what Evan and Jessica go through as a married couple.
