Chapter 47 - Saving you, Loving you

Ragini kept running, but she knew that she won't be able to run much further. Her legs were aching and she felt like fainting from exhaustion. The only thought that kept her going was the fact that she didn't want to die. More importantly, she didn't want to die with her harsh insults being the last words to Sanskar. 'Even if I die today, I'll make sure to let Sanskar know how much I love him!' with diehard determination, she pushed herself harder to run.

As she rounded the corner, Ragini saw the big crowd ahead of her. Getting an idea, she surged forward. 'He won't be able to shoot me here. The mob will get him if he fires the gun. Moreover, he won't be able to get an aim if I hide amidst them.'

Ragini joined in and went deeper into the crowd until she was almost squished among them. She stopped and took in deep gulps of air. "Finally safe!"

Although she wouldn't have said that if she had seen the man silently approaching with stealth through the crowd.

'Nice thinking girl. You're an intelligent prey, I'll give you that. Damn, I won't be able to shoot you here.' however, the smirk didn't leave his face. 'But I can easily stab you. And in this crowd, your scream won't even be heard!'

Thinking she was safe, Ragini opened her phone and began calling Swara.

The man silently moved through the mob and came up from behind her silently. 'Now, its over. Have a happy after life.' with deadly aim, he took out his knife, pulled his hand back and trusted it forward towards her.

However, at the last moment, someone came in front of Ragini and grabbed her in a hug, saving her from the knife. He closed his eyes as the knife went into his side.

The grin on the man's face disappeared knowing someone spoiled his plan...epically.

Ragini was still unaware of the hit. Only thing she knew was that Sanskar had grabbed her in a hug out of nowehere. Seeing him, she couldn't wait to tell him her thoughts. After all, she was in fatal danger. "Sanskar! Sanskar, I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry. I know I've hurt you deeply and I'm terribly sorry. I do have faith in our love and I was wrong in not believing in it. Please let me explain!"

Despite the pain, Sanskar smiled. Ragini looked like she realized her error. After the hurt he felt, hearing her say these words were like melody to him. He wanted to listen to her speak without any interruptions, even if he was bleeding. Despite the physical pain, his broken heart was healing.

The man was in still in shock over what had happened. He had an easy chance of ending the girl, but he missed it. As he peered into the face of the guy, he recognized the Maheshwari. 'Shit! No doubt he has back up. Better run to live and try another day.' Abruptly, he pulled away the knife and disappeared into the crowd.

In such a crowdy place, people had barely any time to look towards Sanskar as they went on about minding their own business. Sanskar himself, refused to acknowledge his pain. "K-keep speaking Ragini." He tried to make his voice sound as normal as posible.

"Sanskar, I'm sorry. I thought I would be able to be without you. But..but I know now that there is no future for me without you! I can't imagine a life where you aren't with me! Life without you will only be a like a slow freeze to death. I'll be surviving, but not living. When... when I was almost about to die, the most thing I regretted was not telling you how much I loved you. I regretted leaving you. I realize Sanskar that the opposite of loving isn't hating, but leaving. I didn't realize how much pain I was giving you by leaving you." Ragini was in tears by now. "We will try to convince my cousins together! I promise Sanskar. But please don't leave me. Don't ever leave me. Hate me as much as you want, but don't ever leave me. I can't live without you."

Sanskar smiled a solemn smile and rubbed away her tears. "That's all I-I wanted to hear. E-Even if I die today, I would die happy, knowing that...that you feel the same for me as I do for yo-you."

Ragini could hear his voice getting softer and smaller with each word, almost close to a whisper. She thought it was his emotions overwhelming him. With a smile she brought her hands around him to hug him. However when she touched his side, she felt something slippery.

Ragini looked at Sanskar in confusion, which soon turned to shock and horror when Sanskar suddenly fell down. "Sanskar? Sanskar!? Wha-What's wrong?" As she noticed the blood oozing out of his side, she gasped. "Oh my! No! Sanskar! Sanskar no!"

Sanskar slowly grabbed her hand. "Don't cry. Smile. I want to see your smile Ragini. Smile for me." the blood loss was making him lightheaded. Although, he felt it was a good thing since he couldn't feel the pain.

"How could you ask for something like that now?! How can I smile when-" she couldn't continue amidst her tears.

"P-Ragini please. Smile for me." he pleaded desperately.

Ragini closed her eyes to hold back her tears. Somehow, she managed to give him a shaky smile. Although inside, she felt like she was dying over and over seeing his state.

Sanskar gave her a small smile in return. "You're b-beautiful Ragini."

He could here the shout of his brother and his friends in the background, approaching them. Ragini's tear-filled face was the last thing he saw as the world went black around him.
