CHAPTER 7:DEVINE LOVE:A TRUE LOVE STORY...

True beauty emanates from within, from a heart aligned with the divine.

The story you're about to read is a beautiful and profound love story that unfolded in our time. In an age where true love stories are seldom heard, this one stands out for its sincerity and adherence to Islamic values. A narrative that echoes the prophetic traditions of respect, modesty, and the sacred bond of marriage. It's a reminder that pure and righteous love still exists, and that's what makes this story so inspiring.

I recently heard a Sheikh share this story, and his words captivated me—I was completely absorbed, and the story moved me deeply. I hope it resonates with you just as powerfully, InshaAllah, and that you find a valuable lesson in it.

A man went to the gulf countries in Emirates, with little but faith guiding his path. For years, he toiled tirelessly under the scorching sun. His beginnings were humble, his pockets almost empty, but his heart was filled with hope. Allah, the Most High, witnessed his steadfastness, and in His infinite mercy, granted him success and wealth in a land far from home. It was a testament to the wisdom of Allah's plan, showing that with dedication and trust in the Almighty, even the most modest beginnings can lead to great blessings.

His father was a man of profound piety and deep righteousness, who had served as an imam. The son, now blessed with wealth and stability was ready to marry, he felt it only right to turn to the man who had been his moral compass since childhood. He penned down a message to his father, seeking his blessings and advice, knowing that no step in life is more sacred than the one toward marriage.

The message was filled with gratitude, respect, and the hope that his father would guide him as he embarked on this new journey.

'My father, I have reached a point in life where I am ready to get married. Many years have passed without me marrying, and I believe now is the right time. I trust your wisdom and understanding in these matters, and I humbly request that you help me choose a suitable wife. Please proceed with arranging the marriage contract, and I would like the wedding night to be the day I arrive and meet her for the first time. I have faith in your judgment and know that you will guide me on this blessed journey.'

The level of trust this young man had in his father was profound. He entrusted all the wedding preparations to him, allowing his father to choose his future spouse. Such a decision reflects the son's deep faith in his father's judgment and wisdom, asking for guidance as he took this important step in life.

As a righteous man, the father knew the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who said a woman is sought in marriage for four reasons: her wealth, her beauty, her lineage, and her religion. He emphasized, 'Choose the one who is religious, (otherwise) you will be losers'. This hadith emphasizes the importance of prioritizing faith and piety over worldly attributes.

The father therefore chose a wife for his son based on her strong religious faith, despite her physical appearance not being the best. He did not go for wealth, nor lineage, nor ephemeral beauty, but for a jewel of deen, a soul mate whose radiance was derived from her piety and whose worth was measured by her devotion. For in the pursuit of such a companion, the young man's life would be graced with tranquility, and their union would be a fortress of faith, a beacon for generations to come.

This choice reflected a deeper understanding of what truly matters in a partner—someone who will support and encourage you in your journey toward Allah, someone whose inner beauty shines brighter than any outer adornment. The father knew that a marriage built on the foundation of faith and good character would withstand the test of time, providing a source of lasting happiness and blessings.

The man arrived at the airport, weary from travel but filled with excitement to be back home. He was picked up by family and they greeted him with warm smiles, and he was escorted to meet his new bride, a woman he had yet to see unveiled. He entered the room with her, the door closing quietly behind them, leaving them alone for the first time. As she slowly lifted her veil, revealing her face, he felt a wave of shock wash over him. The reality was far from what he had envisioned, and he felt a surge of anger and disappointment. 'Is this what my father has chosen for me?' he thought, feeling the sting of betrayal. The emotions were raw, and in that instant, his joy turned to bitterness. Without saying a word, he turned away, his mind in turmoil, and lay down to sleep.

It was a moment that challenged his faith, a test of his patience and understanding. In Islamic tradition, a marriage is a sacred covenant, and he knew that his reaction must align with the principles of compassion and forbearance. As he closed his eyes, he understood that he needed to seek guidance from Allah to find the wisdom and peace to navigate this unexpected turn in his journey.

Toward the last third of the night the wife who understood the reaction of her husband tried to wake him he refused. She tried again, he refused and then she sprinkled water on him to wake him up so he woke up.

"I know you're disappointed," she began softly. "I know you're disappointed. I understand that I'm not beautiful. But let me share something with you. I longed to be married for one reason. I wanted to live by the hadith of the Prophet ﷺ, when he said, 'May Allah have mercy on a man who wakes up at night, prays, and wakes his wife to pray; and if she refuses, he sprinkles water on her face. And may Allah have mercy on a woman who wakes up at night, prays, and wakes her husband to pray; and if he refuses, she sprinkles water on his face."

Her words were gentle but firm, revealing a heart filled with faith. "This is why I wanted to get married. And Wallahi, I'm so grateful to you for granting me this chance, even though you didn't know it. I was afraid I would never get married because of how I look, but you made my wish come true. I wanted to implement this hadith so much. Now, can we fulfill the rest of this hadith together? Can you wake up and lead me in salah? Pray Tahajjud with me tonight?"

Her words were sincere, her heart full of hope. She knew that the essence of a successful marriage was built on faith, prayer, and seeking Allah's guidance. By inviting him to share in this sacred moment, she hoped to bring them closer, not only as husband and wife but also as fellow believers. The husband listened, the anger in him slowly melting away as he grasped the depth of her faith and her desire to live by the teachings of Islam. He got up, reached for the prayer mat, and together they stood, side by side, as he led her in prayer.

The man swore by Allah that the very moment he finished his Tahajjud prayers, having led his wife in salah, something extraordinary happened. The prayer had softened his heart, and when he turned to look at her, it was as if he were seeing her for the first time.

"By Allah," he said, "as soon as I completed my Tahajjud prayers, I looked at her as if I were seeing the most beautiful woman in the world."The sincerity in his words reflected the profound shift in his perception. The act of leading her in prayer had opened his eyes to a beauty far beyond the physical—an inner beauty that comes from a soul seeking closeness to Allah.

The veil of disappointment was lifted, and he saw her with new eyes. He saw the purity of her faith, the sincerity of her devotion, and the warmth of her spirit. It was as if the light of Tahajjud had illuminated not just their room but also his heart, revealing the blessings that were right before him. This revelation filled him with gratitude and a newfound respect for the woman who had gently woken him for prayer.

In that moment, he realized that true beauty emanates from within, from a heart aligned with the divine. What had begun as a night of confusion transformed into a night of clarity and gratitude. He felt a renewed sense of connection with his wife who was no longer just a wife chosen by his father; she was now a partner in his spiritual journey, a companion in prayer, and a source of inspiration for his own faith. The words he spoke carried a sense of peace, a recognition that the beauty he sought was always there, waiting to be seen through the lens of faith.

My beloved readers, that's the way it goes. Don't be deceived by the fleeting romance portrayed in soap operas and movies. True love reaches the heart because of Allah, and it's sustained through devotion to Him. He can fill your heart with love for your spouse, but both of you must be obedient to Allah at all times. Lead your wife in salah. Have your husband lead you in salah, especially during the quiet hours of the night. This shared act of worship strengthens the bond of love, deepens mutual respect, and brings you closer to Allah.

This family, is a living testament to the blessings that come from living according to the teachings of our faith. Today, they have grandchildren who have memorized the Quran and are pursuing knowledge. Some of them are even on their way to becoming scholars of this Ummah. This is the beauty of a family rooted in faith and obedience to Allah. May we all strive to build such families. Ameen.

It's not about grand gestures or dramatic declarations of love; it's about the daily acts of worship and the quiet moments of prayer that bring you closer to each other and to Allah. This is the kind of love that endures, the kind that builds a legacy rooted in faith and knowledge. It's a love that leads to a future of spiritual blessings, where the next generation is grounded in the teachings of Islam. So, let your hearts be guided by these truths, and may we all find the love that leads to eternal blessings. Ameen.

Do not compromise or test the command of Allah if you wish to live happily, as the movies portray 'ever after.' Marriage is a sacred institution, and Shaytan dedicates every day to placing a crown on the head of the demon that succeeds in breaking the bond between husband and wife.

In this journey of life and beyond, you need a good partner. Seek not just beauty or wealth, but righteousness and piety. These are the qualities that endure, the qualities that light the path to a fulfilling life. If you seek these, you will find the best of this life and, by Allah's will, you will be united with your reformed spouse, purified and radiant, in the gardens of Jannah.

May we all find the kind of love that endures, a love rooted in faith, and may our homes be filled with the recitation of the Quran and the light of prayer. May Allah, in His infinite mercy, guide us to the path of righteousness, bless us with good spouses and righteous children, and grant us the strength to resist the whispers of Shaytan. Ameen.
