Chapter 4: Lessons
Chapter 4: Lessons
The manual was on Keefe's nightstand in his room. So Sophie looked through it, memorizing it with her photographic memory. It taught the basics about the subjects at school and since Keefe was also a (SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! IF YOU HAVEN'T READ UNLOCKED, DO NOT READ THE REST OF THE PARAGRAPH! AGAIN, IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE UNLOCKED NOVELLA, DO NOT READ THE REST OF THE PARAGRAPH! IT ISN'T A SUPER MAJOR SPOILER BUT STILL! IF YOU STILL READ IT AND GET SURPRISED, I WARNED YOU!) polyglot, he didn't need any English lessons.
So, Sophie just decided to teach him different subjects. Since Alchemy was similar to Chemistry, and Metaphysics was like normal physics she decided to skip that. Most of the other subjects didn't need learning, it was just whatever they would learn during the day. The one thing Keefe would need to learn was Math. So for that, Sophie used her Telepathy to transmit most of her Math memories throughout her life. She definitely wasn't going to explain every single concept in math to Keefe.
"You know, I feel like you might be taking the easy way out," said Keefe cocking an eyebrow.
"Yeah, well I'm not trying to explain all of the 50,000 things I learned in math, so deal with it, Keefe," concluded Sophie.
"Okay, okay! Foster's getting feisty, huh," said Keefe, laughing.
"No, I'm just saying that I'm too lazy to tell you every single topic."
"Fine! Take the shortcut and don't teach me anything," said Keefe, putting a hand on his heart and a fake hurt expression.
"So dramatic," said Sophie, putting the back of her hand on her head and falling back into Keefe's arms.
"It is an art!" he said, in an Italian accent. Why he did it in an Italian accent, and where he learned it from? Sophie had no clue.
"Anyways, you still have a bunch to learn about this generation. But honestly, a lot has probably changed since I was in a human school. And the best way to learn everything is YouTube and TikTok," concluded Sophie, searching for an electronic device to watch it on.
"YouTube and TikTok?" asked Keefe with a puzzled expression.
"Yup! They're these apps where people post videos and stuff for, like, entertainment and information, and stuff like that," explained Sophie.
"Cool! Could we post a video?" he asked.
"We don't even have channels or accounts. What would you make it about, anyway?" stated Sophie.
"That is a great question. But it is also a question I don't have an answer to, unfortunately," said Keefe, which earned him an eye-roll from Sophie.
"Well, my favorite YouTubers growing up were Sssniperwolf, Brent Rivera, Lexi Hensler, and Brad Mondo. (A/N - #notsponsered #notanad hehe) So we are watching them!" said Sophie.
"You know, that kinda sounds like you're a creepy stalker when you say 'we are watching them'. And I am not trying to be a creepy stalker dude, alright," he said, which earned him, yet another, eye-roll from Sophie.
"Fine! Let me rephrase it: We are watching their videos," said Sophie.
"Okay! Let's do this!" said Keefe. "Also, one more question; Who the hell are they?"
"Well, Brent Rivera is this guy who does a bunch of pranks on his friends and stuff and he makes funny videos," Keefe smirked at that. "Also, I wonder if Brierson happened yet? (A/N - Any Brierson shippers y'all? Also, why Brent is a matchmaker for everyone except himself...) And Sssniperwolf has a bunch of different kinds of videos, which she kinda just reacts to, I guess. And Lexi Hensler, who's friends with Brent Rivera, also does funny videos, I guess. She and Brent are vloggers or something. And then Brad Mondo is a hairstylist who reacts to hair stuff. And I'm betting Brent and Brad will be your favorites," Sophie finished with a smirk.
"Of course they'll be my favorites! Pranks and hair? That's an ultimate dream come true!" exclaimed Keefe.
---------- Time Skip to when they finish watching videos cuz I am too lazy to write ----------
"Those video thingies were bomb af," said Keefe with a smirk.
Sophie groaned and said, "I regret doing this. You aren't supposed to use the slang all the time..."
"Well too bad! You're gonna have to deal with it," said Keefe.
"Ugh! I show you, like, 10 videos and you already speak like a Boomer who's tryna be Gen Z!"
"What can I say; I'm a quick learner! Also, what is a Boomer?"
"A boomer is someone who's Bronte in the Lost Cities... So that was not exactly a compliment, just so you know," said Sophie, feeling slightly smug.
"Well crap," said Keefe.
"Mhm," replied Sophie.
"So then how do I act more Gen Z, huh?" asked Keefe.
"I have no clue. You're just gonna have to stay as quiet as possible at school until you learn how to speak more 'this generation'. But to be honest, nobody's going to care how you speak with your looks," said Sophie, then immediately slapped a hand over her mouth when she realized what she had said. "Shit!"
With a smirk, Keefe said, "The Mysterious Miss F thinks I'm hot? My job here is done!" Then he put his arms around the back of his head and leaned back.
"Well, all elves are good-looking so I think you look good and so will everyone at this high school. And you are a pretty good-looking elf out of most elves and I just slipped and said that but I didn't mean it. Okay, maybe I did. But still, you CANNOT use that sentence as blackmail, or I will kill you and I will have no problem with that! And it isn't like I'm a supermodel or anything, so you would stick out a lot more. And people would probably just be caring about looks and stuff, and then I would just be there and nobody would care about how you speak and whatever," rambled Sophie.
Keefe pressed a finger to her lips to shut her up. It also managed to make her blush. "Y'know Foster, you are prettier than you think. You always underrate yourself. You have no self-respect at all. And I hope to change that. You are beautiful just the way you are, okay? And just because I may be hotter than anybody else --which I totally agree with-- does not mean people don't care about your personality. And you are the best person I know. You are kind, caring, brave, smart, unique, and you are the most amazing person in the Lost Cities and the whole world." And that made Sophie blush even more. She looked like a tomato now.
"Th-Thanks," Sophie mumbled, trying to cover her face with her hair. She also somehow managed to get even redder.
"I left Foster speechless again, haven't I!" said Keefe, ruining the moment. Ruining the moment? There was a moment! AHHHHH! Sophie, get yourself together!
"No!" Sophie defended, but the bright red blush on her face was not helping. Keefe laughed and smirked. Sophie punched him in the arm and tackled him.
"You're cute when you're angry, y'know," said Keefe, as he got out from underneath Sophie. His ice-blue eyes stared into the depths of Sophie's chocolate brown eyes. His eyes are so beautiful... Sophie blushed at the thought, then covered her face with her hair. But Keefe pushed her hair behind her ears and held her face in his hands. "What did I just tell you?"
"I'm cute when I'm angry?" Sophie tried. Keefe raised an eyebrow. "Uh, you left me speechless again?" she tried again. Keefe rolled his icy eyes. "Fine, it was the other thing you said, but I really don't agree with that..."
"Well, you should! Embrace your differences, Sophie!"
"You just called me Sophie! Not Foster, or 'the Mysterious Miss F', or whatever else!"
"Well, that's because I'm being serious. And yes, I have it in me to be serious!" said Keefe.
"I appreciate the words, but you know it's not true," said Sophie, looking down at her feet.
"Sophie, I know that you are beautiful," Keefe said. He looked like he was blushing slightly. KEEFE SENCEN CALLED ME BEAUTIFUL! AND HE JUST BLUSHED!
The thought of Keefe blushing in front of her made her heart flutter and her face go nuclear.
"Did you just blush?" Sophie asked Keefe, stealing his signature smirk.
"Uh, wh-what? N-No! I did not blush!" he tried to defend.
"Yeah, uh-huh. Totally! Then why are you stuttering Hunkyhair?" asked Sophie.
"I-wha-no! I did not stutter or blush!" Keefe tried.
"You just did it again," Sophie pointed out, the smirk.
"You look cute with a smirk," Keefe said, wearing his signature smirk again after collecting himself. Sophie blushed furiously. "Ha! Now look who's blushing!" said Keefe, putting his arms behind his head and stretching out his legs.
"You just admitted that you were blushing!" said Sophie, who was still blushing.
"Eh, it's still cuter when you blush," he said, but the faint reddish tint stayed on his cheeks. And, as if Sophie wasn't already humiliated enough, her face went even redder without her consent. "See?" Sophie groaned.
"You're lucky you're adorable, or I would have throttled you by now!" said Sophie, before her brain actually thought about what she was saying. UGH! Sophie, why are you so stupid? Keefe burst out into a laughing fit. Sophie went even redder if that was even possible at this point. "Well, it is sorta true! You are pretty adorable when you blush and stutter!"
"But you're more adorable! Even though I know I'm amazing, you are still a lot cuter when you're flustered," said Keefe, somehow managing to make Sophie blush even more. I think I have a disease. How does someone blush this much?! This is just inhuman. Or in-elfy? Ugh! I need to control my blushing! "Earth to Foster!"
"I have a disease, Keefe. It's called 'Extreme Blushing Syndrome'. Don't search it up, though. That is the only reason I blush so much, okay!" Sophie said.
"Okay, totally!" said Keefe sarcastically. "I definitely believe that, 'cause it totally makes sense!"
Sophie just threw a pillow at him.
"Hey! Just 'cause I'm irresistible does not give you the right to throw pillows at me!"
In response, Sophie threw more pillows. Before they knew it, the two of them were having a full-on pillow fight, laughing and having fun, and their whole entire condo was a mess. They flung pillows until they couldn't find any to throw in their mess of a house.
They both threw themselves onto the messy couch that was now underneath a pile of random stuff they had thrown at each other. Sophie took a deep breath. Sophie and Keefe stared at the mayhem they had caused and would have to clean up later and sighed. Sophie knew that Keefe would most likely stay back and watch Sophie clean and that she would have to do all the work herself. Oh well...
"We need to clean this tomorrow, and that is not gonna be fun, that's for sure," said Keefe.
"Yeah, it will not be fun," Sophie agreed. "Wait, did you say 'we', as in both of us? As in you're actually going to help me clean?"
"Hey! Give me some credit! I can do work if I want to!" Keefe exclaimed. Sophie gave him an inquisitive look. "It's true! I swear I do work sometimes!"
"Yeah, okay, we'll see what you do tomorrow," Sophie said, picking up the remote to turn on the TV. "but right now, I wanna watch some Harry Potter!"
"Who now?" asked Keefe.
"It's a book/movie series. It was one of my favorites when I was younger. It has 7 books and 8 movies," she explained. "And right now, I'm in the mood to do a Harry Potter Movie Marathon!"
"Let's do it, then," said Keefe.
A/N - Hi again! I'm back! I kinda didn't know what to write but I just wanted this chapter and so I had to think of ideas for the chapter and so the chapter isn't really good. But, oh well. I also had a bunch of stuff going on so I couldn't write much. (I was writing during school lol.)
The chapter was about 1,000 words again.
