One week later.

Jessica walks into the living room with a limp.
"Hey.."

"Hey!  What's wrong?"

"I landed wrong and hurt myself.  I'll be fine."

"Do you need some ice?"

"Sure." Jessica smiles softly. "I'd love a cupcake too." Jessica smiles.

"You and your sweet tooth.  But I'll make you some since you're hurt."

"Thank you!" Jessica them sighs and places her hand on her stomach.

"You feel sick?" Danny covers his mouth and steps back.

Jessica laughs. "I'm on my period, I don't think you can catch it."

"Oh!" Danny laughs. "Yeah, I think I'm good."

Jessica shakes her head and chuckles.

"I need to go to the store today.  Do you wanna come with me?  If you're hurting then just make me a list and I'll get whatever you need."

"No, I wanna go.  Then I'll get to use that new mask I bought!" Jessica smiles.

"WOO!" Danny mocks Jessica's excitement.

"Ooh we should get some stuff to make margaritas!  Don't you think, Danny?"

"Yeah!"

"We can have taco and margarita night!"

"Ooh that sounds great!"

"Yeah!" Jessica says with a giggle.

Danny thought Jessica's random little giggles were adorable.  She always brought a smile to his face just being herself.

"Danny?"

"Yeah?"

"Catch me!" Jessica runs and jumps on him.

Danny laughs and lifts her up.

"Hey that was good!  Gold star!" Jessica smiles.

"Woo hoo!  Thanks!"

Jessica giggles and puts her feet down.
She fixes her top, and looks over to the man at the end of the isle.

"Danny look!  That's Sarah's dad."

"Oh it sure is.. Should we talk to him?"

"Yeah, let's ask him how she's doing."

The two walk over and Jessica's shyly says, "Hi Mr. Paulson."

"Hm?  Oh!  Jessica, Daniel!  Hello, how are you?"

"We're okay.  How's Sarah?" Danny asks.

Sarah's father sighs. "She's not doing well.  We're trying to stay positive but.. things aren't looking good.  She's been in the hospital for almost a month now and she hasn't improved.  I honestly don't know what we're going to do."

Jessica was in tears.
"You still can't see her?"

"No."

"We're so sorry, Mr. Huston.  Sarah's strong.  She can do this."

"I'm praying she'll pull through."

Jessica wipes her cheeks and sniffles.
"Sarah's my very best friend, Mr. Paulson.  I think about her every single day.  I pray for her morning and night.  She's always on my mind.  I love her.. she's my sister."

Sarah's father smiles softly.
"She loves you too, Jessica."

After talking to Sarah's dad for about ten minutes, he had to go.

Danny looked over to Jessica and saw how heartbroken she was.

"Come here." Danny takes her in his arms.

Jessica cries a little harder and holds Danny tightly.

"Jess, she'll be okay."

"But what if she isn't?  I love her, Danny."

"So do I."
Danny laid his head on Jessica's and rubbed her back for comfort.

That evening Danny wanted to cheer Jessica up.

Jessica had a jazz class to teach, and while she was working Danny set up a taco bar for her.

Danny heard Jessica's music and snuck in to watch.

"Woah.. shit." Danny says in a low voice.
Jessica shook her butt, kicked her leg up to her face, leaped and turned all over the place.  Danny's jaw was practically on the floor.

Her shirt sliding up revealing her stomach.  It only left Danny wanting to see more.

"Danny?" Jessica laughs.  He was drooling.

"Hey!  Sorry, I'm going." He laughs nervously.

Jessica chuckles and continues her class.

"Woah!"

"Hey!  How was class?"

"Good!  Look at this, a taco bar!"

"Yes!  And here is a margarita for the best damn teacher ever." Danny hands her a glass.

Jessica giggles. "Thank you."
"Did you enjoy what you saw, mister?"

Danny's chuckles and his face turns red.
"Yeah, I mean it- it was cool!"

"Thanks." Jessica laughs.

After dinner Danny and Jessica were just a little tipsy.

"Can we do that dance again tonight and film it so I know what to work on?"

"You are so cute!" Jessica laughs.

"I'm telling you, I want it to be perfect!"

"Alright, well yeah we can film it." She smiles.

"Awesome!"

Jessica laughs before checking her phone.
"Oh Evan's calling!
  Hello?"

"Jess!  Come look out your front window."

Jessica quickly runs, leaving Danny there alone.

"What's going on?" He asks.

"EVAN!  HI!" Jessica laughs and waves.  Evan was standing right outside of her window.

"I'm working on the COVID floor so I can't come in, but I just wanted to see you."

"Aw Evan, I'm gonna cry!  I've missed you so much!"

"I've missed you too, Jess.  You and Danny!  I'm planning on going over there next."

"No need!  DANNYYYY!" Jessica screams.

"Oh he's here?"

"Yeah he's staying with me for now."

"Oh!  I didn't know he was still here." Evan chuckles.

Jessica puts Evan on speaker, tears rolling down her cheeks.

"Hey Evan!" Danny waves.

Evan smirks. "Hey tiger."

Danny nods his head.
"What's up?"

"Have you seen Sarah?" Jessica asks.

"I have.  I see her everyday." Evan sighs.

"We saw her dad at the store today.. he said it doesn't look good.." Danny says.

"It doesn't.. but we're doing everything possible."

"Poor Sarah." Jessica says.

For years it's been the four of them together like glue.  If Sarah didn't make it, it'd be like losing a family member.

"Okay so let's do this thing!"

"Do you wanna go over it?  Or you just wanna go for it?"

"Just go for it!  Why not?" Danny smiles.

Jessica laughs. "Well okay!  Let's do it!"
Jessica then starts the music, and they dance.

Jessica was so proud of Danny.  Even though he's not a dancer, he was so interested in her career.  Even perfecting this piece to as best he could.  It warms her heart that he cares so much.

As Jessica walks away from Danny, he watches her.  His chest pounding.  The camera was recording and he knew they'd have this moment saved forever.

Danny took Jessica's hand, turned her around, and pulled her against his chest.

Jessica gasped and grabbed his arms for support.

Danny looked into Jessica's eyes and in a low voice he said, "I'll be the one if you want me to."

"Huh?" Jessica was in a trance.

Danny then places his lips on Jessica's and kisses her with so much passion.

Jessica was shocked, but so happy.  This is what she's been wanting.

Jessica pulls away and looks into Danny's eyes.
"Wow!"

Danny chuckles.
"I know!"

They two once again fall into yet another passionate kiss.
