Michael's POV

It's Ocean's birthday today and just like last year she's been really quiet since she woke up. I'm finishing off breakfast and Oceans walks in. "You really don't like birthdays do you?" I chuckle sightly setting down her breakfast "Every year lose somebody" she sighs "Robert last year...and now my parents"

"I'm here and so is DJ" I remind her "for now" she shrugs looking away. I walk closer to her taking her hand "you see this ring right here? I gave you this the day I swore to God that I'd always be here and that I'd always love you until the day I die and I made that same promise to you last year when I gave you that promise necklace...this exact day in fact" she smiles biting her lower lip "you know what else today is?"

"Mhm...it was today we found out we were having DJ" I smile. "It's crazy" she shakes her head "What it?"

"This whole year. It's like one moment I was stepping out of a moving van and the next....here we are!" She laughs slightly "I'll always remember that day. I um... I purposely threw that ball over at you so I had an excuse to come over and talk to you" I confess "you did that on purpose?" She giggles and I nod. "I have an idea!" I smile "I know we're not supposed to because of our religion on stuff but...I really want us to celebrate your birthday this year"

"You wanna break the rules!?" She gasps playfully "girl! When have we ever played by the rules?" I giggle pulling her into me.

Ocean's POV

Michael and I are out for lunch with DJ, Even though I'm sad I won't see my parents on my birthday I've had a pretty great day with Michael and DJ. My thoughts are disturbed when Michael phone vibrates and he gets up from the table "I'll be right back" I frown confused as he heads off to the restroom. He thinks I haven't noticed but ever since we left the house he's been constantly texting someone and every now and then sneaks off to make a call. "What's going on?" I ask suspiciously when he comes back to the table "nothing" he shrugs innocently "are you cheating on me!?" I snap "What!? No!" 

"So who've you been texting and calling all day?" He sighs rolling his eyes. "If you must know it was Marlon, he and his girlfriend just broke up and he's a little down right now"

"So why didn't you say that?" I frown confused "because I want today to be a drama free day for you...and by the way. I swear on DJs life I'd never cheat on you" he rests his hand on the back of mine and smiles through pursed lips. "I'm sorry I said that, I'd never cheat on you either"

"I know you wouldn't" he shrugs arrogantly then turns to DJ "I think your mommy has crush on me" he winks playfully making me giggle.

We walk up to the front door and Michael stops suddenly "what's wrong?"

"Nothing" he shrugs innocently still standing by the door "oh...Kay" I frown confused opening the front door

"SURPRISE!!!!!!!! "

"W-what the.." I stand stuttering "happy birthday, baby!" Michael smiles pecking my lips

I'm standing in the kitchen talking with Sarah and I'm still in shock Michael did all this for me. "So...Mrs Jackson? How's married life" Sarah asks bringing me from my thoughts "it's amazing!" I smile and sigh contently "Michael did a great job organising this party! I hope Tony's taking some notes down" she smiles pursing her lips "Tony?" I look at her shocked "are you two?"

"Mhm" she nods "ahhhh" I squeak excitedly pulling her in for a hug. "Can I borrow my wife for a moment?"  Michael smiles taking my hand and Sarah nods smiling and leaves the room.

"So this was what all those calls and messages were about?" I smiles wrapping my arms around his neck "mhm" he smiles pulling me in close. "I can't believe you did this for me....thank you" I smile pecking his lips "I wanted to. And I wanted to show that you do have people in your life...lots of people and no matter what these people right here love you and will always be here. Especially me" he smiles pressing his lips against mine "love you" I smile onto his lips "I love you more"

Michael's POV

I'm in the front garden and Jermaine comes over "everything ok?" I nod smiling "yeah, I'm just getting some air" I smile "Thanks for coming today. I wasn't sure if you would"

"Of course I'd come! This is the first time I've got to meet a nephew...and your wife..." He pauses for a moment "your wife! and your son! I didn't think I'd be saying that for a loooong time!" He chuckles "I know! I've had a very busy year!" I giggle "you've changed so much since I last saw you....What happened to that shy, greasy haired, little golden boy I talked to a year?" He laughs slightly "he grew up!" I smile proudly. "I know we haven't always seen eye to eye on most things but, I'm really happy for you" he smiles placing his hand on my shoulder.

Jermaine's POV

I didn't want to come her today but I knew my mother would be hurt if I didn't. So for her sake I'm just gonna smile and go along with it until the parties over. If me or any of my others brothers had knocked up a 15 year old school girl, and dropped out of school we would have had our asses beat and thrown out of the house. But not Michael...never sweet perfect little Michael who can do no wrong. I feel bad for what Ocean's been through with her parents and stuff and she seem like a nice girl and their kids pretty cute but... Why the fuck does Michael always have to get what he wants and have things his way. Just like when we were kids. "What the fuck does she want?" Michael says snapping me from my trail of thoughts. "Is that..."

"Jessica!" He says cutting me off. "I don't want to argue I just want to see my daughter" she says calmly "forget it!" Michael snaps "will you please let me speak to her just for a moment, you can be there too if that's what you want"

"She doesn't want to see and you said enough when you decided to call protective services telling them we weren't fit to be parents" he snaps shaking his head. "You did what!?" I gasp looking at her shocked "and I'm sorry for that I truly am. will you please just let me..." He cuts her off shaking his head "why can't you let her have just one day where she's happy? I already told you she doesn't want to talk to you"

"Why are you asking Michael's permission? If you wanna talk to her so bad call her on the phone if she doesn't wanna see you" I suggest "I've tried to and it keeps sending me straight to voicemail" she mumbles ignoring my first question "because she blocked all your numbers" Michael tells her. "Surly you can understand why she doesn't want to talk to you?" I say and she shakes her head "I'm her mother! And she needs me and so does my grandson. Regardless off what you might think we all do still love her and Duncan!" She snaps getting defensive by my comments "so that's why you tried to have their child taken away!?" I frown "she tried to force Ocean to adopt him when he was first born too" Michael mumbles "we were in shock! If either of you had bothered to tell someone rather that letting us just come home to her giving birth on the bedroom floor things might have been different!" She snaps at him "look maybe you should leave" I suggest seeing how worked up Michael is getting and to be honest after hearing what Michael just said I honestly want to hit her right now. Mother told me about Ocean's parents disowning her but not about them trying to adopt the baby while he was sick and had just been born. "I'm her mother I have every right to see her and my grandson!" She snaps "well DJs Michael's son and Ocean's his...."

"Look she's not gonna come out and talk to you so there's no point keep going over it" Michael snaps quickly cutting me off. she sighs finally giving up "will you at least past her a message?"

Michael sighs and rolls his eyes "Fine"
"tell her that we're sorry for what we've done and PLEASE tell her that we love her" Michael nods "I'll tell her" he shrugs and she eventually leaves.

"Are you ok?" I ask seeing how upset Michael is "I'm fine" he mumbles "I had no idea about any of that stuff" he shrugs it off like its no big deal "we're over it now so..."

"Are you really gonna give Ocean the message?" He shakes his head "do you think I should?" I look at him for a moment taken aback. A moment ago I was actually jealous of him for being the perfect golden child of the family who has it all and now after hearing all that  I realise he doesn't have the perfect life. Neither of them do and now he's looking at me like a lost little boy not knowing what to do "she's been having such a great day and I don't want this to ruin it?" Michael says snapping me from my thoughts "it's just gonna do more damage than good. So...?"

"I won't say anything" I smile through pursed lips

Michael's POV

it's pretty late and Ocean and I are getting ready for bed. "Are you ok?" Ocean looks at me concerned "you've been really quiet since you came inside. Did you have an argument with Jermaine or something" I shake my head smiling though pursed lips "we're fine.. Did you enjoy your birthday?" She comes over to me wrapping her arms around my neck and I pull he in close to me "it was amazing. I know I was upset about my parents earlier but...."

"Do you still want to talk to them?" I ask feeling kinda of guilty about not giving her the message. As much as I hate her family. I hate seeing Ocean hurt even more "I did but... it's probably for the best I didn't see them. It would only have been another argument" she shrugs "today was amazing there was no drama no upset. Just me, you and our family and friends...it was perfect" she smiles pressing her lips against mine."almost perfect" I whisper against her lips "you still have one more gift" I wink flirtatiously pressing my lips against hers leading her to the bed
