A Special Night

I spent most of the afternoon trying to think of another gift for Toothiana. After all, she gave me plenty of gifts throughout my childhood.

Alex sighed over the phone. "The only other thing I can think of is a dress, but that's way out of your budget, man."

I rolled my eyes, moving the phone a bit closer to my ear with my shoulder. "She won't like the dress. It has to be much more special than that." I reached for the juice at the back of the fridge.

Alex huffed. "Well how am I supposed to help you with this if you're such an expert?"

I felt my face fall. "... I'm sorry, I thought you said you were the expert here."

He laughed. "Hey, you're the one that called me. What else was I supposed to say?"

I took a cup of juice up to my room. "Just help me come up with something. She's pretty much my girlfriend now."

"Does it have to be now?"

"No."

"Then slow down. We have time." He laughed. "Alright, so what's she into?"

I shrugged as if he could see it. "When I was at her place there was a lot of gold tiles everywhere." I opened my laptop, typing in a search bar. "Now that is out of my reach."

"Alright, so she's a little princess."

"QUEEN."

"Ugh. Queen. Maybe she's into some sort of jewel. Do you know her favorite color?"

I looked at the image results of tooth fairy on my laptop. "Maybe she'll like a wand."

"What? Are you stupid?"

I shook my head. "I'm looking at images and all the tooth fairies had wands, but Toothiana doesn't have one."

"Well she doesn't have a crown either."

"Damian?"

I jumped up, closing my laptop. "Toothiana." I laughed a bit nervously. "You're earlier than expected."

She smiled, rubbing her arm. "I just really wanted to see you, and I noticed your parents are out of the house. Is that... normal?"

Alex gasped loudly. "Is that your girlfriend I hear? Are you guys going to suck face? Are you going to be safe? You have protection right?! Dude I know your parents aren't home."

My eyes widened, and I hung up, smiling at Toothiana. I took a deep breath. "My dad's working over time, and my mom is out at some birthday party." My phone rang, and I pushed the decline button.

"Oh." Toothiana nodded, raising a brow. She smiled again. "I can see why you loved going to the park then."

I paused, then smirked. "You looked into my memories didn't you?"

She looked away, pushing back a few feathers. "So what were you doing on that?" She pointed to my laptop. "I've heard that it's like having the world in your hands."

I tried to hide my smile as I scratched my back. "Just talking to a friend."

She sat on the end of my bed, facing me.

I stood up from my desk chair and stood in front of her. "Is something wrong? You look a bit anxious."

She grinned. "It's not every day that someone who is old enough to like me does." She flew to me, embracing me. "And I've missed you."

I paused, slowly resting a hand on Toothiana's back. "I've... missed you too."

She moved back. "Let's go." She took a hold of my hand and we flew out to her palace. The baby teeth surrounded me again, but this time they kissed my cheeks as many times as they could before Toothiana told them to head off. I assumed she turned back to where I was because she gapsed.

I kept myself from laughing.

"Damian?" I heard fly closer then away. "Damian?"

I quietly moved crossed to another platform without her seeing me, then I called out, "Over here." To my advantage, my voice echoed throughout the palace. "No, over here." I lightly laughed. "Ever played hide-and-seek?" I turned around and gasped.

"I have." She poked my nose, smiling. "I'm usually the one that's hard to find."

I grinned, trying to poke her back, but she flew back before I could.

She laughed and stuck out her tongue at me. "Your turn to find me."

I nodded and turned around to count. I slowly counted to ten before I turned around and the only trace of Toothiana was a few Baby Teeth fllying around.

"I'm over here." Her laugh echoed. "You got to find me." She laughed again.

I turned.

"Over here."

I turned again.

She laughed. "Other way."

I walked over the bridge to where I thought she was hiding. I watched her turn to look where she last saw me.

She stretched her neck a bit to get a better view, and I poked her shoulder. She jumped as I ran away, laughing. She huffed, and I heard her count as I ran over two bridges.

"Too late." She laughed, almost poking me.

I slid and ran in the other direction. She flew after me, and every time her finger touched my hair, I slid to make sure she didn't touch me. I ran, looking back at her.

Her eyes widened. "Damian!"

I looked forward, realizing that I was falling. I reached out for a platform, but it was barely beyond my reach.

Toothiana embraced me, and we softly landed on some grass. She laughed and ruffled my hair. "You didn't think I wouldn't catch you?"

I softly kissed her cheek. "I simply wasn't sure how fast." I grinned.

She locked her gaze with mine. I kissed her softly and felt her arms wrap around me as she kissed me. I felt ground beneath my feet as she kissed me again. She exhaled as I softly kissed her neck.

"Ah!" She fell and I caught her arm.

I looked down. "Oh, I really was standing on something." I grinned at her and pulled her up.

Toothiana pushed me back, laughing. "You made my wings stop flapping."

I laughed as I lied on my back. "You made my knees weak."

Toothiana ruffled my hair again and kissed me. "You really are an amazing boy."

I grinned. "You're a wonderful girl." I sat up and kissed her, cupping her head.

She locked gazes with me, and then sun made her eyes bright. I smiled as I pressed my forehead against hers.

Her smile vanished, and she looked away at the sun. "Should we get you home?"

I blinked. "Why?"

She was silent for a moment. She looked back at me. "Sorry, I just thought about your parents. They'll be worried when they see you're not home."

I smiled and kissed her forehead. "I was worried that you thought of something worse." I sighed, looking at the horizon. "But, you're right. I should head back."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I slowly slid into my room, making sure I could hear my mom in her room. Her soap opera was so loud in the other room, I wondered when she was planning to sleep. I looked back at Toothiana. "So I--"
My back hit the mattress of my bed as she kissed me, wrapping her arms around me. She kissed me several times as I wrapped my arms around her. I pressed her body closely against mine, but then I stopped, beginning to wonder what was going on as she kissed my neck.
Toothiana stopped and locked gazes with me. "Sorry." She blushed, sitting back on her knees. "I've just... I've just been thinking about you all day." She lied on top of me. "And I've missed you all day. I feel empty when you're gone, and there are so many things I want to do."
I caressed her cheek. "I miss you like crazy during the day too." I kissed her. "I know how you feel."
She smiled and pressed my hand against her cheek. She looked away, her eyes slightly shifting. After a long, quiet moment, she looked at me. "Damian, may I... May I sleep next to you?"
My eyes widened, and I probably blushed. "Uh... You mean, like... in my bed? Like, together? As in... under the same covers? Here?"
Toothiana clasped her hands beside her face, smiling. "Mhm." She nodded.
Is she using the cute?... I scratched my cheek as I swung my legs off my bed. "Uh. Y-yeah. You... can."
She laughed while grinning, rapidly embracing me and snuggling under the blanket of my bed. Her purple eyes gleamed at me. "Well come on, Damian. You should be sleeping."
I smiled to myself. "I'm just going to go brush my teeth."
Her eyes widened. "Oh, yes! That's important."
I opened my drawer and took out pajama pants, then headed off to the bathroom. I quickly brushed my teeth and changed my pants, dialing Alex.
"Hello?"
"DUDE! She's in my bed," I whisper yelled.
"Wait... what?"
"Toothiana is in my bed!"
"... Are you..."
"No. I'm in the downstairs bathroom." I let out a deep breath. "I'm just... I don't know what to do. She's my first girlfriend."
Alex was silent for a moment. "How about you don't tie the knot tonight. I mean, I'm sure you're deeply in love and stuff, but... you guys just got together like not that long ago."
"I'm not going to. I just... I really like her."
"I know, bro. Just calm down."
"Okay."
"... Why is she in your bed?"
I paused. "She said she wanted to sleep next to me."
"Oh. Okay. Wait...What?"
"NEXT TO ME, NOT WITH ME."
"OHHHH. Ha... WAIT. THEN WHAT'S THE PROBLEM? JUST SLEEP NEXT TO HER!"
I frowned. "... Why do I call you?"
"You like to disturb me for no reason what-so-ever." Alex hung up.
I rolled my eyes and put my phone in my pajama pants. I walked back to my room quickly.
Toothiana smiled as I entered the room. "Did you brush well? Including the back?"
I nodded. "I brushed twice too." I hopped into bed, keeping a face that said this was normal.
Instantly, Toothiana's hands were in my mouth, and she was looking around. "Wow... these are spotless. It also smells like mint in here."
"Uh..." I groaned trying to say something.
"What?" Toothiana moved back, tilting her head.
I laughed. "Nothing. It's not important." I lied onto my back.
She smiled and lied on her side. "You know, Damian," she moved her body against mine, resting her hand on my chest, "you should always keep your light strong, no matter what."
I paused and turned my face to her. "What do you mean?"
Her eyes lowered. "You should always believe... no matter what."
No matter what? I paused. "What's going on?"
Toothiana closed her eyes and smiled, shaking her head. "Nothing, silly. I'm just giving you advice in general." She snuggled against me, and she laughed lightly. "Your heart is racing."
My head turned the other direction. "I know."
She laughed again. "It's nice to listen to though." She gently moved my face towards her. "I love you."
I felt my heart jump a bit, and she kissed me softly.
"I-I love you, Toothiana." I let out a small laugh and kissed her, wrapping my arms around her.
Her body pressed more against mine as she kissed me. She wrapped her arms around my neck as we continued to kiss. After quite some time of kissing, she whispered, "Good night, my love."
And I remember whispering back, "Good night, my queen."
