SUMMARY :

Nina Reyes has always been the popular,  seen girl at whatever school she went to.  She's moved more times than she can count but every time she moved,  she's always been able to keep the same 'social status' throughout it.  There was just something about her that pulled people in.  Something that was warm about the air around her.  About the aura that swirled around her as she walked down the halls,  eyes couldn't help but stare and follow her figure.  She's the girl that other girls,  and boys,  envy as she walked passed them on her way to class.  Nina Reyes was a girl that already had you in the palm of her hand before you could utter a greeting.  She was the flame of a candle while the others around her were the fly.  Robin Buckley was one of those many flies that was drawn into the enticing light and flew too close.

Robin Buckley preferred to be in the background.  Nothing really enticed her to step out of her comfort zone and get involved in whatever kids her age did in Hawkins.  Nothing was interesting in the town of Hawkins,  until Nina Reyes pulled into town,  or at least that's what Robin thinks.  But,  she was only a piece to the puzzle of the paranormal things that was drawn to Hawkins,  Indiana.

EXTRA INFO :

• This is sort of based on Stephen Kings 'Firestarter'

• ^ Nina's parents had participated in another program that did the same things that the one in Hawkins did.  This specific program needed test subjects & offered to pay off some student debt for anyone & everyone that volunteered.  That's where Tomás & Alexia met.

• ^^ The scientists deemed the experiment a failure due to not getting the immediate results they wanted.  But it did give the volunteers certain abilities.  Tomás gained the ability to look into the minds of others & control them for a limited time.  Alexia seemed to gain the ability to influence electricity.  She blew out many electric sockets when she fell pregnant w/ Nina.  She can't necessarily produce it (like from her palms or anywhere else),  just control & influence where it goes.

• Due to Nina's parents gaining abilities,  she is born with an ability.  She is able to produce,  start,  and control fire.  Hence the title of Firestarter.

• ^ Since she was born like that,  her abilities were a bit out of control and unpredictable.  But she did get a good grasp on her abilities over the years as her parents highlighted the importance of practice.

• Nina is a bisexual with a preference to women & Robin is a lesbian (which is canon!)

• Robin & Nina don't really actually meet until Nina decides to visit the ice cream shop in the Hawkins mall.  The two have crossed paths from time to time.  Them living on the same street greatly contributing to the fact. 

• ^ Robin practically jumps over the counter and shoves Steve away from the register as she hears the soft voice of Nina Reyes speak.  Steve is deeply offended & bewildered by what just happened.  Nina doesn't pay too much attention to Steve because she also has a MAJOR crush on Robin.

• ^^ The while things kinda goes like this:  "Welcome to Scoops Ahoy,  what can I do for you today?" - Steve
"Hi, uh...can I please get the-" - Nina
Cue Robin crash landing at the cash register and practically throwing Steve to the floor
"Hi! Hello.  Welcome to Scoops Ahoy,  anything I can do for you today m'lady?" - Robin
"Oh.  Hello!  Yes.  Can I please get the strawberry ice cream in a waffle cone?" - Nina
"Sure thing!" - Robin

At this point Steve is contemplating his existence tbh

• Robin is more infatuated with Nina & has a girl crush on her.  It's not in a creepy way but more of 'I would love to get to know you' y'know?  Same with Nina but she actually likes Robin

• She gets involved in everything when she is tasked to watch over/babysit Dustin

• ^ His Mom decided to go on a vacation by herself for herself so she hires Nina to watch him the majority of the summer

• ^^ She is given this job a week or so after going to Scoops Ahoy for the first time.  The second time she goes back,  it's with Dustin & he absolutely refuses to admit that she's his babysitter & instead says that he felt bad for her for being new and decided to befriend her,  which everyone knows if false

• ^^^ Robin literally crawls over the open window to greet Nina,  almost falling on her face as she did so.  Steve literally gives her this 🤨 look.  He's so dense honestly.  Dustin immediately connects the dots but doesn't say anything as he goes back to engaging with Steve. Nina goes as far as to hop over the counter and sit underneath the open window & just sit there

• As Dustin and her visits increase over the weeks due to the Russian code they are trying to crack, the tension between the two is so obvious & thick it's literally sickening. They get along quite well but walk on eggshells around each other

• ^ Nina tries her best to help the group crack whatever code they're listening to but she barely passed French so she's barely a help in the language department. Although she is fluent in Spanish & English, she's not a fast learner with other languages which is weird considering she grew up speaking two languages but her brain refuses to store any other language knowledge in it.

• ^^ She just sits there, looking pretty & Steve literally notes on it: "Are you just going to sit there and look pretty?" To which Robin responds with, "She sure is, Harrington. Jealous?" & Dustin 'ooohhhhh' 's at the interaction

• ^^^ Regarding her being bilingual, since the face claim is mixed & is Cuban + Jamaican, this is a big part of her identity in the plot. Her father is Cuban/of Spanish descent so please make sure that the fc is also of that ethnicity if you change Tomás' fc (i know Oscar Isaac isn't Cuban but there aren't many Cuban actors that I was able to find that could possibly portray Nina's father. Age wise). Her mother is of Jamaican descent & her fc stays as is. They all speak fluent Spanish in the house & use some Jamaican lingo in their household.

• When Robin & the gang + Erica are trapped in the elevator, Nina is trying her hardest not to burst into flames out of anxiety. Her abilities are driven by her emotions at times & when she's put into a situation where there's a possibility that they won't make it out safely, she starts to get warm & smoke up a bit. The group doesn't notice because they're too preoccupied with their own stuff but Nina does try to melt her way out of the elevator but nothing works (only deep hand prints were what was left).

• ^ When they get caught,  taken,  and receive the truth serum,  it's all a mess.  The trio is a mess of giggles & Nina tells the two about her 'fire' problem & Robin + Steve laugh their asses off at it

• Nina is there to witness the conversation Steve and Robin had about her liking Tammy Thompson. She thinks that Robin still likes her so she kind zones out and continues to puke her guts out

• ^ Steve catches Robin's glance to Nina when she explains her feelings & why she was the way she was towards Steve & immediately knows that she has some harbored feelings for the girl.

• ^^ He 100% told Dustin after & Dustin just looked at him with a blank face and was like "Yeah, I know" & Steve just stood there like🧍🏻‍♂️ "Am I really that oblivious?"

• When Billy brings that Demogorgon thing to the mall, Nina has an internal battle on whether or not she should use her abilities. She doesn't want to cause more distrust or make the younger kids weary of her but she also knows that she can help lighten the load on Eleven. So, she does it anyway.

• ^ She managed to catch a small portion of the monster on fire, distracting it for a bit. The whole gang literally just freezes and stare at her until Steve and Robin practically push them to start running. Dustin is making note to ask her about it later, Mike is weary, Max & Lucas are lowkey fangirling, & El is confused.

• Nina and Billy get into it a bit after he manages to catch up to them, latching onto Nina. Since she's using her powers, her skin is extremely warm or hot to the touch so Billy recoils back at that. Once she realizes it, she practically throws herself at him in an attempt to slow both him and the monster down so the others can escape.

• ^ She yells at them to go but they don't and try to join in on "defeating" the monster

• Nina burns a good portion of Billy's arm before being thrown into a store window, cutting up her arms, back, and face

• ^ Due to that, she's unconscious for most of the fight and doesn't wake up until she's in Steve's car in Robins lap

• ^^ This is where Robin patches Nina up once Steve drops them off of one of their houses. Nina sits on the bathroom counter with Robin in between her legs so she can clean up all the blood and glass from her face. This is a really sweet and intense moment where they both realize each other's feelings towards one another and finally kiss

• They are together in future seasons & are so cute together!!
