❝ Loving you's my Achilles heel, Diana. ❞
SUMMARY :
Justice has always been a topic of discussion between the team of heroes, the Union, and the people of Earth. The Code was to be upheld no matter what, even if it meant the heroes dying themselves. It didn't seem to be an issue until the villains seemed to out number the heroes. They were to be locked up and to rot in jail while the Union held funerals for their fallen. It didn't seem fair and many didn't realize until it was too late, whether that be as they were dying or watching their loved one be buried six feet under. It didn't seem fair that someone do good had to die at the hands of someone so bad and have the latter get away with it, serving the rest of their life in a jail cell instead of in the ground. The Silvers family had noticed the pattern early on, confronting Sheldon Sampson and his outdated beliefs. That night, the separated from the Union and decided to serve their own justice the right way.
Diana Silvers and Brandon Sampson grew up together, both of their parents being one of the founders of the Union of Justice. The two had been conjoined at the hip ever since they could walk. They never spent a day apart. It was cute when they were little and even when they entered middle school but once high school rolled around, everything seemed different. Brandon couldn't look Diana in the eyes without feeling queasy. Diana could no longer hug him without feeling a burning sensation run throughout the entirety of her body. Neither of the two knew what the things they felt meant or what it meant for their friendship. So, they began to drift apart as a way to get rid of whatever they were experiencing. Years after avoiding each other like the plague and joining and leaving the Union, the two finally catch up while they're in the line of crossfire.
EXTRA :
• Diana's hero alias is Athena
• ^ her abilities include flight, super human strength + speed + reflexes + stamina, & weapon summoning. She's a lot like Thena from the Eternals movie. Her weapons shone a bright golden color and seem to be made out of light. A Scarlet Witch esque head piece materializes when she uses her powers.
• Diana's Mother was a close friend of Grace Kennedy's. They worked together as journalists during 1929 & Grace was the one to drag Alma along to the island Sheldon had gone crazy over. Upon being gifted their powers, Alma received the shared powers of flight, superhuman speed + strength + reflexes, & immortality / age deceleration. The only power that she has that is different from the rest is molecular manipulation. She can create things out of molecules, change an object into something else, & manipulate the constructs of anything. The Union calls her Atomic. (Instead of the groups containing of 6, they contained 7)
• ^ Diana's Father is a regular human but died when she was 10 due to cancer. This was a really hard time in her life and Brandon was always there for her, quite literally on his hands and knees for whatever she needed. He wanted her to take her time to grieve her Father's loss and didn't want her to do anything else so he (literally) fed her, put her to bed, woke her up, did her laundry, ran the shower or bath for her, did her homework, brushed her teeth, etc.. It may seem like he was doing a lot for her, which he was, but she was his best friend and he hated seeing her in pain and wanted to do everything in his power to ease the load she had on her. During the times Brandon tried himself out, Diana would try to carry him to the couch or to his house & tuck him in or she would leave him where he was & cover him in a blanket, wait for him to wake up, and make breakfast or lunch or whatever so he had something to eat when he awoke.
• A lil head canon: Alma & Grace planned their pregnancies at the same time so they could be pregnant when the other was. They wanted their children to have someone who was like them close in age in case they died when they were little or felt like they couldn't confine in their parents with what they were experiencing.
• ^ Like mentioned earlier, Brandon and Diana grew up together. Everyone always joked around that they would get together sometime in the future & the two would gag at the idea but as time went on and they grew up, they didn't quite mind. They didn't realize their feelings for one another until they had graduate high school but by then, they were sort of thrusted into the Union so they were way too busy with trying to please their parents & save the world.
• ^^ Brandon actually came up with Diana's hero alias. They were in English class learning about Greek gods & once the teacher mentioned Athena, Brandon immediately thought of Diana. At this point, she had already started showing her powers and the way she fought and carried herself reminded him of the Goddess of War. Diana wasn't too sure about it until Alma heard about it and shared praise over the idea. It just seemed to fit her and so she went with it.
• Alma started to see the flaws in Sheldon's code after Skyfox had left them. She noticed how bad each one of them looked after a mission & how the bad guy was arrested & faced the possibility of being let out into the world once again. None of that really say right with her, especially when Fitz was severely injured and almost died. She started to question everything about the Code and what would happen if she was put into Fitz's place & actually died. What would happen to Diana? The bad guy? How was it fair that she die and they live? Nothing made sense. (I might have gotten the timeline wrong with Fitz & Skyfox but oh well)
• ^ She didn't leave for the sake of her daughter. But she did argue with Sheldon about it almost everyday. She wanted others to notice the flaws the Code carried. She wanted to encourage others to question Sheldon and what they all faced with the Code still being enforced. Diana didn't see it all until a close friend of hers was killed on a mission they both of them were on. The villains 'friends' had fatally shot her friend when they were fighting the main villain, dying in Diana's arms as she pleaded for her life. That moment had burned itself into the young girls brain. The bad guy got away and the Union didn't bother to search for the man. This is what angered Diana the most. Her best friend died in her arms pleading for her life and they weren't allowed to peruse the killer and make him pay for the life that he took. Wasn't justice supposed to be served? Where was the victims justice? She almost fought Sheldon at the funeral when she confronted him about his stupid Code, materializing a spear and pointing it at Sheldon's throat. The Silvers woman left the Union that day.
• The two decided to go on their own and serve their own justice to those who got away and were unsatisfied by the Code. Over the years, their 'business' grew bigger as the word got out that some supers were serving the justice that the Union couldn't to its civilians. Once the Union heard about this, they became number one on their watchlist and knew who was running it. They only had a handful of encounters, Silvers and co. being too fast for the Union to catch.
• ^ They aren't exactly villains nor heroes. They're like morally grey or anti-heroes.
• Silvers & Co. members (please come up with a better name 😩):
Diana Silvers, Athena
Alma Silvers, Atomic
Paul Hernandez, Mirage*
↪︎ Illusion Manipulation

↪︎ Teleportation
Coraline Petrov, Ultraviolet*
↪︎ UV Manipulation
Claiborne Keyes, Chief*
↪︎ Telekinesis, Flight, Superhuman Strength, & Laser Eyes
• The first time Diana and Brandon see each other again is during the few times the Union is able to catch them in action. It's most of the younger generation that was tasked with the job to bring Silvers and the other into custody. Once Diana had seen who had interrupted them, she applauded (literally) their effort and ability to catch them in the act. Brandon had wanted to explode right on the spot once he heard her voice and locked eyes. Without thinking, he charged at her, which she dodged. They all began to fight each other after that. Although, Brandon and Diana did more flirting than fighting. Neither of them had the balls to hurt each other and sort of danced around one another, swiping under the others legs or throwing them off balance once in a while. Once Diana decided she was done with whatever her and Brandon were doing, she apologized before punching him into a building and running off with her team behind her. Neither of them heard the end of it after that.
• ^ This is where the 'Achilles Heel' phrase comes in. They are each other's weaknesses & physically can't seriously harm another. Even though they had drifted away, their bond is still really strong.
• ^^ Sheldon scolds Brandon for not being able to do his job, continuously telling his son that he's not ready & he's too emotionally invested. Alma does the opposite & thinks it's endearing but reminds her daughter to be quicker & not get too attached due to him being a Sampson. They both remind them how bad it'll end.
• In Season/Volume One, Sheldon accuses Silvers & Co. of making the copy of Blackstar. Brandon thinks this idea is absolutely outrageous & goes against his Father on this, causing further tension to be built. No one else thinks this expect Sheldon. They know that Alma isn't capable of creating beings nor does she have the heart to release something as vile as Blackstar with the possibility of people dying. That's not Alma's goal.
• ^ Brandon decides to confront Diana about this, just to ease his mind of it. He manages to find her quite easily. Diana is shocked that Brandon managed to find her so easily and nearly jumps back in fright when he puts her hand on her shoulder in the middle of the café she was in. When he confronts her about it, she is quite understandably pissed that Brandon would accuse her and her mother of such a thing. He reassures her that he knows they would never do that but his Father is and he needed to let her know of the potential backlash they will be facing. She appreciates his warning and offers to make him some lunch at her place, to which he agrees to (Diana makes Brandon his favorite & he's shocked that she still remembers his favorite food). They catch up during this time & enjoy each other's company while they still can. Brandon confines in her about his doubts about the Code & Diana tries her best to listen without telling him outright to just leave the Union because she knows how much it means to him. He eventually passes out on her couch while they watch some bad reality TV show. Diana covers him up in a blanket from her closet and tucks him in, a wave of nostalgia passing through her as she does so.
• ^^ The next morning Brandon wakes up to already made breakfast and a note saying that Diana had to do some errands and she won't be back in time to say goodbye. Brandon decides to stay a while longer and eats what Diana left him and watch's the news. As he finishes his last bite, the news does a breaking news of Silvers & Co., some villains, and the Union fighting, destroying a lot of the city. He nearly chokes on his food and rushes out of Diana's place, not bothering to put on his suit as he speeds to the scene. Everything has literally gone to shit once he arrives. There's holes in buildings, cars in pieces, fires erupting from exposed electrical wires, and lamp posts bent. He doesn't know what to do until he hears a familiar war cry. His eyes snap in whatever direction it comes from, finding Diana fighting off his father, Sheldon. He's angered at the sight. At the fact that his own father is fighting his best friend, dare he say love of his life. Brandon flings himself forward to his Father and knocks them both a couple of feet back. He screams at him, demanding to know why he is doing this. Sheldon gives no real answer, still on the assumption that the Silvers have something to do with Blackstar. Brandon doesn't back down when his Father tells him to, getting in a physical altercation with his Father.
• ^^^ Instead of leaving the scene, Diana stays and aids Brandon in fighting his Father. Although Sheldon is a lot stronger than the both of them, they do put up a good fight. They work quite well together and really don't need to communicate to know what move the other will do next. It's all natural and fluid. Lady Liberty is the one to break up the fight, after witnessing an almost fatal blow be delivered to Brandon's face. She scolds Sheldon for almost killing their son and fighting on an impulse and destroying some parts of the city all because of an assumption he fabricated in his head. Grace checks over the two young adults and tells them to both go to the Union hall. She doesn't care the Diana is no longer apart of it, she wants her to go so she can seek medical attention. She still cares for the young girl.
• Alma goes ape shit once she finds out what Sheldon Sampson has done to her daughter and the other people on her team. She's furious. She walks into the Union hall with a passion, ready to kill Sheldon.
• When Brandon and Diana get to the Union hall and receive medical treatment from Doctor Fitz Small, they're left alone for awhile.
• ^ She asks him why he did what he did. Why he defended her and fought his father. Their conversation sort of goes like this: " 'Cause D, you're a great friend of mine. No matter what. What he did was wrong. You did nothing do deserve that." "Hmm, how'd you know that I've done nothing of the sort to invoke your Father from beating my ass?" "I know you, Diana." "I still don't get why you stopped your Father from fighting me." " 'Cause loving you's my Achilles heel, Diana"
• ^^ Babe is shook to hear those words come from his mouth but before she could say anything in response to that, they are interrupted by Alma, screaming at the top of her lungs how she'll kill every last one of the Union if they put another hand on her daughter as she approaches. Alma embraces her daughter and cradles her in her arms as she coos Diana. Grace isn't too far behind Alma and embraces her son as well, kissing the top of his head as a million thoughts run through her head. Grace is finally able to understand what Alma and Skyfox have been talking about since the Code had been established, especially after the death of Ghost Beam being not too long ago. Alma takes Diana back to her house without a word to Brandon or Grace, avoiding their gaze as she takes her daughter underneath her arm and walks away from the scene.
• Diana is still processing what Brandon had said to her earlier. About her being his Achilles heel. That could mean so many things but Diana knew that it was his shortened version of him telling her that he truly cared and loved for her. Of course she loved Brandon but she didn't know in what way. Sure she knew him since they were both born and spent every waking moment with him since then. Sure they shared their first kiss together when they were 14 while playing spin the bottle at their 8th grade graduation party. Sure Diana felt slightly jealous when other girls showed interest in Brandon and when he showed interest back. Sure Diana's gaze lingered a little when Brandon would aid his father in the field and he took his shirt off due to the hot weather. Sure she dreamt of him from time to time and got this funny feeling in her stomach whenever he crossed her mind. But that didn't mean she was in love with him, right?
• The two don't see each other again until after the incident with the real Blackstar and him breaking out and Brandon almost dying at his hands. Brandon immediately flew over to Diana's house to seek comfort. He knew his Dad wouldn't save him and that he'd always follow his precious Code no matter who was at the villains hands. Alma opened the door and was startled at the sight in front of her. Brandon wasn't in the best of shape and multiple bruises were beginning to form on the young man's face. The Mother quickly ushered him in and called Diana to come downstairs while she went to go get the first aid kit. Diana gasped once she saw Brandon sitting on her couch all bruised, out of breath, teary eyed, and much more. Her heart ached at the site and she immediately took him into her arms once she reached his form. She began to patch him up once her Mother handed her the first aid kit, leaving the two alone.
• ^ Brandon breaks down and tells her what happens, tell her his thoughts and how scared he was that his Father was going to let him die at the hands of Blackstar. How he hesitated to save his son and how Petra was actually the one to save him, distracting the villain long enough for Brandon to get the upper hand and knock him out. Diana begins to cry with Brandon at he let the words fall out of his mouth. Diana couldn't believe how any Father could do that. How any Father would hesitate to save their son from a villain. Diana began to comfort him once she noticed it got harder for him to breathe. Once he calmed down, he kissed her. And throughout the night, they comforted each other in various of ways only the two of them could for each other.
• Highkey proud of this plot & you can determine the rest since there's only one season. Kinda feel like I just wrote the whole book in this chapter. Oh well lol
• For the Silvers & Co. members, you can totally make up their background and change whatever has a '*' by it
