*Virgil's POV*

I'm in love with my best friend.

Oh my gosh.

There's no way he feels the same way. I'm a ghost for God's sake.

I don't have time to process this. Ro's waking up.

Roman: Vee?

Virgil: Hey Ro, how are you feeling?

Roman: Hungry.

Virgil: How about I go get you some waffles and you rest some more?

He nods sleepily and moves off of me so I can get up.

Roman: Virgil?

I turn around to see Roman rubing the blanket between his fingers anxiously.

Roman: Thanks... for staying with me last night.

Virgil: Of course Ro.

I wonder how much he actually remembers, he was pretty out of it. I head downstairs and throw a couple of waffles in the toaster.

This is eerily similar the nightmare.

The only difference is Ro's not here to pass out again.

He still could.

No that wasn't real.

Maybe. But maybe it was a warning. And now you can't help him.

No. No no no, he fine. He's going to be fine.

Apparently the waffles finished during my internal debate so I grab them and quickly head upstairs. When I get there Roman's sitting up on his phone.

See? Completely ok.

I set the plate in front of him and his eyes light up.

Roman: I have never been more happy to see food in my entire life.

Through a mouthful of food, he asks about Patton's phone call.

Virgil: I called him after seeing all the missed messages.

Roman: Wait. How can you call him?

Virgil: According to Alex, it's a voice phenomenon or something. Trying to use that touch screen sucked though.

Roman: Cool. Did you tell him what happened?

Virgil: Technically no. Logan cut in and, of course, already knew exactly what was happening.

Roman: What exactly did happen? I don't really remember anything after getting to the car after the audition.

Virgil: He wouldn't say exactly.

Which pissed me off.

Virgil: Just that you'll be fine and that we need to find Remus.

Roman: Remus? What does he have to do with this? I'm just sick right?

Virgil: It's not a normal sickness Ro. You're eyes turned black and your hair turned white.

Roman: Ok I kinda wanna see that.

He laughs lightly but I can tell his heart's not in it. He's scared, and who's to blame him?

Roman: Well,

He finishes off his waffles and places his plate on the nightstand.

Roman: Let's go find Remus!

He starts to get up and immediately falls back into the pillows before I can stop him.

Roman: Woah. That made me really dizzy.

Virgil: Uh yeah! You passed put like two times yesterday Ro! We'll find Remus later, you need rest.

Roman: No I'm fi-

Virgil: Don't say that. Every time you do something bad happens. I'm worried about you Ro. Just...

I run my fingers through my hair and turn away from him.

Virgil: Just rest today. Please?

I hear him sigh then shift to get under the covers again.

Roman: Fine. But we're looking after school tomorrow.

Virgil: Sure Ro.

He yawns and is seeming asleep instantly.

I know he said we'd look tomorrow but I have nothing better to do so I might as well get a head start now.

Logan did research Remus... Well Roman. Which led to Remus. Anyway, I bet he might know something. Plus I got that telepathy thing do I don't have to go to him.

Virgil: Hey Logan? Is this even working?

Logan: It is, hello Virgil.

Virgil: Oh cool. Well I was wondering if you had any useful information about Remus?

Logan: Well I have the location of the foster home he was briefly in but that's all. I'll have Patton send the address to Roman's phone.

Well that was easy.

Virgil: Thanks.

Roman's phone blings which causes Ro to stir slightly but not enough to wake him up.

Time to go on a twin hunt. It shouldn't be too hard since they're twins. It is possible that they're not identical though...

Come on Virgil stay optimistic geez.

The foster place is conveniently in the same town as that theater. And that weird castle that I was drawn to for some reason. Maybe I'll have time to stop there.

Walking wise, it's a long way, can I teleport?

Probably. But I'd rather not accidently teleport to hell or something.

After literally forever, I finally make it to Milena. (Which is still annoyingly familiar)

The foster home is very run down but still open by the looks of it. There's a few flyers advertising different events for the kids posted on the door.

I wonder if they keep the permanent records here, with a place this old it's a possibility.

The inside is a little more modern and less run down. There's two staircases leading up to a separated second floor, a hallway down between them, and a reception type area in the lobby.

???: Can I help you?

A person in a casual t-shirt and jeans looking around their mid 20s comes out of a side room that I didn't notice.

There's no one else here so I have no idea who they're talking to. They walk up to me and laugh a little.

???: Oh! Virgil! Sorry I thought you were human since you're walking. Well kinda are just... you know. I'm Sandra she/her. Of course you already know that so I don't know why I said it. Force of habit I guess.

How does she know my name? And I know her...?

Virgil: Uhh you know me? And can see me? Are you a mage or something?

Sandra: Of course I know you. Do you not remember me? And I'm a vampire now.

Virgil: Wait really?! When Thomas mentioned other supernatural things I thought maybe demons and witches but vampires?! Should I remember you?

Sandra: Those are real too. You don't know all of this? You've been a ghost for 100 years now. And you knew before then too...

Virgil: 100 years?!?!

It's been that long?? I've been with Ro for 16 years now and before that I just kinda went around to different houses calming children and just hanging out with them till they couldn't see me anymore. Doing that for 100 years though?? That's crazy.

Virgil: 100 years... Ok, then how do you know me?

Sandra: How do you not know... Do you have any memories from when you were alive?

Virgil: I didn't even know my name! Logan had to tell me! I'm drawn to this town and I don't know why. Then there's that damn castle! I need to help Roman and find Remus cuz he's sick and I'm scared of what'll happen if he goes through that again!

I'm ranting. Why am I ranting? This person is a stranger... or is as far as my memory goes.

Sandra: I'm not entirely sure of the situation here but I'll find out... I'm sorry for this Your Majesty

Virgil: Your Majes-

Her eyes start glowing white and everything goes black.

???: Apologies, I thought you were human since you were walking. Well human meaning- anyway. I'm Sandra she/her, and you are?

Virgil: Uh Virgil. He/him. Are you a mage or something?

Sandra: Or something. What can I help you with?

She seems a little familiar too, but what doesn't in this damn town.

Virgil: Well, I thought I'd have to look for stuff myself but ok. I'm looking for anything you have on Remus Young?

Sandra: Oh I remember Remus! Always scaring the other kids with his fangs.

Virgil: You remember him?

Sandra: I was young then of course but he's hard to forget.

Virgil: Alright. Well what can you tell me about him? Or any ideas on where he is?

Sandra: He first arrived here when he was 2 and stayed till he was 13. He was always around a ghost around his age and they grew up together. The other kids obviously couldn't see the ghost so Remus would get teased about it. He scared them on purpose to get them to leave him alone.

Virgil: Did he ever mention a twin?

Sandra: He did briefly before he ran away. His ghost friend had a theory that he had a twin out there somewhere. They ran off in pursuit of that I guess.

So he does know? But after 3 years surely he would've found us. Especially with the help of another ghost.

Sandra: You might wanna check the caves. There's a lot of them around here. He could've gone there for lodging. It's getting late though, and I think you have someone to see.

How does she know where I'm going? I guess that's part of the 'or something.'

Virgil: Right, well, thanks for your help.

Sandra: No problem Virgil.

Well that's the end of that I guess. She is right though I need to get back to Ro before he wakes up.

*Roman's POV*

When I wake up Vee isn't here.

Which is fine cuz he's his own person and can do what he wants.

Still though... I like him being here.

Anyway, I force myself out of bed and find Mom and Ma downstairs talking quietly over coffee. When they see my they quickly stop talking and shift to face me.

Mom(Alex): Hey Ro! How are you feeling?

Roman: Umm, better I guess.

Mom(Alex): That's good, you hungry? I can make some mac and cheese if you want.

I nod and sit at the table next to Ma while Mom goes to the kitchen.

Roman: So did you call FG?

Ma(Kat): Yeah but we never got through to her. We called Thomas too, he had the same theory as Alex and said he'd try to talk to her.

Roman: What's the theory?

She sighs and looks into her coffee.

Ma(Kat): I don't really know. Just be patient... ok?

Roman: Ok.

Just be patient. Right.

I look over in time to see Vee phase through the front door and start heading up the stairs before doing a double take and looking into the dinning room.

Virgil: Roman! You're awake! Are you ok? Are you still dizzy?

Roman: I'm fi- I'm better. No more dizziness, just hungry.

Ma(Kat): Virgil?

I nod and offer my hand to her, which she takes and turns to Virgil.

Ma(Kat): Hey Virge.

He gives his signature two-fingered salute and sits in front of me at the table.

Virgil: So I went to the foster home place that Remus used to be in.

Roman: Where was it?

Virgil: Milena.

Ma(Kat): You walked all the way to Milena?

Virgil: Yeah, I figure if I have all these other powers maybe I can teleport but I didn't wanna try and end up somewhere entirely different.

Roman: So what'd you find?

Virgil: There was someone there named Sandra who told me that Remus had a ghost around him too but they grew up together. She said that the ghost had a theory that Remus had a twin so they left.

Roman: She could see you?

Virgil: Yeah, I asked her is she was a mage or something and she said "or something."

Vague but ok.

Ma(Kat): Did she have any ideas on where he is?

Virgil: She said to look in the caves around Milena. She thinks he could be there.

Roman: Then let's go!

I stand up quickly, ignoring the brief rush in my head, but before I can go anywhere Ma pulls me back down.

Ma(Kat): Roman you need to rest, we might even have you stay home from school tomorrow.

Roman: No, I need to see Patton so he doesn't worry. I'll rest now but we are going to those caves after school ok? Please?

Vee and Ma look at each other skeptically before both sighing.

Ma(Kat): Fine, but Alex and I are driving you.

I nod happily as Mom comes back with the mac and cheese.

Mom(Alex): That settles it then, we're going on a cave trip!

*Janus' POV*

Janus: Are you sure you're ok enough to do this?

Remus: I'm sure. Let's go meet my brother.

Once again, it has been a while since I've posted and I'm really sorry about that. This was supposed to be out closer to the previous one then by the end of September and now here we are October seventh. (Almost eighth it's 11:30 PM right now XD)
