"No. What's happening?" I ask her.

She becomes blurry for a moment, but I manage to refocus.

"I love you, Tibbs, but it's not time for you."

"No. No. I want to stay. I've waited long enough. Don't send me away. Please," I beg as I clutch her hand and won't let go.

"It's not time." Her deep brown eyes search mine as she places her other hand on top of mine, allowing to feel for a few more moments the love in her touch.

"But I miss you. I want to stay. I love you."

"I'll be here when you get back. I promise you," she tries to reassure me.

"I'm staying. I'm not leaving you." I try to focus my eyes on her, to remember the way the light shining through the doorway caught on her hair. "No," I plead, unable to keep the sight of her from blurring. I reach for her other hand and she sits beside me, her eyes filling with a heart-wrenching blend of sadness and adoration.

"Not yet, Tibbs."

Her soft lips graze my cheek tenderly, and my heart feels the shock of her loving touch.

"Clear! We have a heartbeat."
