A Little Bit Closer...

The next day, Ota found himself awaking to the sound of loud chatter outside. He got ready to leave and was heading down the hall but stops, his eyes falling to Kira's suite door. His mind instantly flashes to the conversation they had the other night and questions from before arise, demanding answers more than ever.

The artist shakes his head to clear the questioning thoughts clouding his mind as he walks out to the lounge with his ever famous 'Angelic smile'.

"Morning, guys!" He greets them cheerfully but falls silent once his eyes land on Kira, who ignores his gaze and greets him. "Morning, Ota." she was acting as if nothing had ever happened and Ota could do the same, but the questions came back and he found it quite hard to focus on one thing.

The group began chatting as usual with Soryu and Mamoru dropping comments or threats every now and then. "Hey, Kir-" Ota approaches the author, hoping to speak about last night's incidents but she was quick to react as she stood from her chair.

"I need to go, I have work to do." she claims, getting ready to leave as she reaches for her coat and purse. "Can I come?" Ota suddenly blurts this, causing Kira to give him a strange look. "Alright," she sighs, "Let's go."

Ota follows Kira out and once they're out of the hotel, Kira stops for a moment, looking around at the streets, which were covered in a thin layer of snow. The cold, crisp air blows harshly at the pair but Kira smiles slightly. "Our season..." she whispers.

"Pardon?" Ota was, to tell the truth, a bit weirded out at her silent outburst but asked what she had meant anyway. "This season... It was our favorite..." Ota didn't need to ask who it was that she spoke off, for he already knew. But he couldn't help but frown upon the thought of her with someone else.

And he didn't really know why...

"So what do you do here?"

Kira had bought Ota to a condo near the outskirts of the city. It was quite peaceful, definitely a place where you could work. "This is where I write and draw the covers of my books." she responds, unlocking the door to her studio. She leads Ota inside but what the blonde saw quite shocked him.

Unexpected from the usually neat and composed author, Kira's studio was completely messy. There was paper strewn about, used coffee cups all over the place. "Sorry it's messy, I don't have time to clean here."

What intrigued Ota the most was that there were no electronics in the room, especially since authors prefer to type their stories. "Where do you write your stories?" "Here,"

"What about your computers.... Don't authors usually-"

"I don't like to write on computer, hurts my eyes. And that's why I don't wear glasses, because I don't use computers." she explains, clearing a spot on a desk nearby. "Anyway, I still need to finish the ending of this book, and I don't really want you to disturb me. This transition of writing is the hardest."

"A-Alright..." Ota sweeps off a few papers on what seems to be a couch, sitting down. Kira begins to write on a new sheet of paper, scanning over it every few minutes to check up on her writing. "Oh and Ota, can I ask you something...?"

The artist glances at the author with questioning eyes. "Can... Can you not tell anyone about what we talked about last night? Especially not Soryu. I-I'll tell him myself." she requests, taking a moment to glance at the artist before averting her gaze back to her writing. Ota nods in response.

"Thanks." Although they weren't facing each other, Ota could tell a faint smile had spread on her lips as she continued scribbling down different notes.

After a few hours, Kira places down a stack of papers, about 7 of them on her desk, sighing. "I'm done,"

"The book?" Ota turns to the tired-looking Kira, who furiously shakes her head in denial. "Oh hell no! These are only notes for my scenes... I still need to do research for this chapter and write it, revise it, go over it again, and publish it."

Ota couldn't help but think that being an author, it wasn't as easy as it looks. "Research?" but that was the only thing that came out of his mouth despite the questions flashing through. "It might seem easy to be an author, heck, some authors themselves don't do this." she shakes her head as she says this.

"But when I get a job, I do it properly. That's how I earned my title as a tear-jerking romance author, for every chapter I write, I do research and interview some couples personally. Or I watch movies and such." she says confidently. "I do research for my job and sometimes..."

"It doesn't hurt to take a look at the past."

After Kira gathered her things and her notes, the pair leave for Hotel Tres Spades once more, walking down the bare and almost deserted roads in silence. It was early evening by the time they had left for Tres Spades, and both were quite hungry.

"I'm hungry..." Kira complains, looking around the streets. "Yeah, should we just grab some dinner?"

"Sure, I know a great place..." Kira smiles and begins to change their course, heading for a different street. Ota follows her and soon they stop at an upscale french restaurant that had recently opened, famous for it's french cuisine and high class service.

It was quite expensive and usually, only celebrities ever come here, or any sorts of VIP's. "Oh, this restaurant..."

"Yeah, I heard about it and I've been wanting to try it out, but Soryu's been too busy to spend any time with me so..." "Shall we then?" Ota smiles angelically at Kira and she gracefully accepts his invitation, looping her arm through his as they walk up to a receptionist.

The receptionist immediately recognizes the two celebrities and orders for a waiter to clear a table. "Just follow James, please Mr. Kisaki and Ms. Satomi, he'll guide you to your table." the pair follow her orders and walks after a brunette server, who leads them to a table with the view of the starry night sky.

The waiter leaves them after taking both orders, heading for the kitchen. The two chat happily as they enjoy the appetizers, which were prearranged at the table for them. After their food came, they thank the waiter and send a thanks for the chef as well.

They continue to talk over dinner and once they finish, Ota insists to pay for the bill as they leave. Kira thanks the artist for his generous gesture as they exit the restaurant.

They arrive back at the hotel to find the boys playing poker up at the lounge, surrounded by women. Ota was about to drag Kira into their game but she shakes his hand off, which was gripping hers. She shakes her head, denying the welcoming offer. "I'm going to go work on my book, I'll see you later." she bids him goodnight and leaves for her room, making sure none of the women see her.

In her room, she begins to work on her book once more, beginning to write a draft of the final chapter. She was finished about 2 hours later, and she could still hear cheers and complaints from their game outside. She reads over the draft and by the end of it, tears begin to water in her eyes.

She reads the final line over and over again:

"It's not your fault..."

A/N:

Well, this was a pretty plain chapter, I literally had no inspiration for this... Sorry if it sucks. But thanks for reading anyway and sticking with me up until now!

Ciao!
