Twelve
It seemed like something was watching over them. Jimin wasn't sure what it was but for some reason, they were able to survive this terrible place. At least in the meantime.
All they could rely on was each other. Taehyung had started to become a reliable person taking great care of Jimin. He managed to pick fruits and get water for them. They both wondered where all these came from but they didn't question it much as long as they were still alive. They had once hated each other. Now, they couldn't imagine being alone without the other.
It had been three days since they were shipwrecked. They were both seating beside the seashore. Taehyung was gazing nervously at the sea while Jimin was taking a bite of the apple Taehyung had gotten that morning. He was already sick and tired of the fruits but right now he had no choice.
He wondered if his parents were looking for him. If he and Taehyung's friends were still alive. There were so many things piled up at the office. He still had plenty of work to take care of.
"Jimin..." Taehyung's voice rang in his ear waking him up from his reverie.
He stared at him. "What is it?"
"Come here, there's something I want to show you"
Jimin slowly got up.
"Pale!" Taehyung yelled impatiently and Jimin hurried to his side. He stood there looking entrapped by something.
Jimin rolled his eyes "What is it?"
Taehyung suddenly grabbed his arm and stood behind his back. He pointed to the sky above them.
"Look at that!" he whispered into the smaller's ear. Jimin exhaled when he saw the rainbow, exact with seven colors. He had never seen a rainbow before in his life. This was the first time and it was the most beautiful thing Jimin had ever seen. It shined so bright, that he felt tears wetting his eyes.
"It's so beautiful" He whispered unaware that his hand was gripping Taehyung's arm tightly.
"Not as beautiful as you" He heard Taehyung whisper and he froze. He realized he had been holding onto Taehyung and shrugged off his hand. He gasped when he noticed that the rainbow was vanishing till it was completely gone.
He turned to look at Taehyung and there was obvious love shining through his eyes. He shook his head. He didn't even want to allow himself to think of that look in his eyes. He started walking away but Taehyung held him back and pulled him to his body.
"I can't hold on Jimin...I'm going crazy" he whispered
"What are you doing?" Jimin muttered trying to drag himself away but Taehyung was stronger than him.
"I've been trying to suppress my feelings for you because that was what you wanted but I can't help myself"
He pulled Jimin away from him but held on to his arms and looked deep into his eyes. "We might not survive this island. We might end up staying here forever so what do we have to lose?"
Jimin frowned "Everything Taehyung, we get to lose everything"
He finally struggled successfully out of Taehyung's grip. "I believe we are getting out of here. We can't stay here forever. Our parents might be searching for us and when they find us, I want things to still be the way they are"
Taehyung sighed deeply. "What do you want me to do to prove my love for you?"
Jimin sighed. "Nothing, don't do anything because I'm never going to fall in love with you...Never"
Suddenly, rain began to fall. Slowly at first until it became like a waterfall. Taehyung grabbed Jimin's hand and they ran to the tree that had provided shade for them all this while. The rain was so heavy that it still got them very wet.
Taehyung grabbed Jimin holding his body tightly while the latter tried to squirm from his embrace but Taehyung held on. There was silence until Taehyung spoke.
"You will fall for me Jimin or maybe you already have but you just don't want to admit it," he said
Jimin reddened but still put up his defensive face "You must be deluding yourself. I can't fall for someone whom I can't trust" he scoffed and continued "Who knows when you are going to stab me at my back"
The rain was reducing now.
Taehyung looked at him sadly. "Is it still about what happened five years ago? Are you still holding grudges against me?"
Jimin eyed him. "Wouldn't you?"
Taehyung sighed. "I'm sorry Jimin, I have spent so long regretting my action. I was naive back then. I wanted to prove myself to my parents"
The rains had stopped now. It was just dripping slowly and Jimin found himself listening to Taehyung and taking in his slightly disheveled but still beautiful appearance.
"They were disappointed in me ever since I came out to them that I was gay. They thought I was useless. But I wanted them to give me a chance to prove that I was still their son, I was still capable of being the heir"
"So they gave me a mission and I wanted to accomplish it even though it meant deceiving you" He took a deep breath "But after that night, everything changed, I saw you in a different light. I had wanted to get closer to you but gaining acceptance from my parents mattered more to me"
He ran his hands roughly over his hair. "I was such a jerk. I can't believe I did that to you. I'm sorry Jimin"
Somehow, Jimin felt like Taehyung was saying the truth. He held Taehyung's hand softly.
"You were a jerk. I felt terrible because of what you did. My parents stopped trusting me and I also had to prove myself every day but what hurt most was your indifference"
Taehyung stared at Jimin. "My indifference?"
Jimin blushed and looked away without saying a word but Taehyung put his finger under his chin and turned his head back to face him.
"Did you fall for me Jimin?"
Silence. Jimin was shivering under the younger's touch but he dared not show it.
Taehyung stared at him anxiously. "Please tell me..."
Jimin groaned "Eish, I don't know...."
Taehyung chuckled and whispered under his breath "It looks like I still have a chance"
"Shut up," Jimin said quickly.
He hated being this helpless around this man so he stepped back but Taehyung held him tighter and pulled him to his chest. Their gazes met and he held his breath. Slowly, without meaning to his eyes descended on those puckered red lips. Those lips that had given him the best kiss he could have ever dreamt of. His knees were melting. He had to keep up with his strong attitude but it didn't seem possible right now because Taehyung was looking damn hot staring at him with lust, his dark hair barely shielding his eyes as he licked his lips. He found himself getting more tempted as he got closer to the other, his grip on his arm tightening.
He was so close to making another mistake when he heard a voice behind him.
"Hello...who are you?"
They both jumped and turned thinking it was a ghost but instead, they saw a middle-aged woman staring oddly at them, her mouth slightly hung open. She was carrying a big bowl, hanging it on her waist. Her skin was slightly brown and she had big eyes and looked quite pretty wearing a flower-designed gown.
Taehyung was the one who rushed to her.
"Hello...please help us we were shipwrecked," he said.
"Shipwrecked?" The woman muttered.
Jimin joined them. "We have been stranded in this place for three days. We lost our friends and we need food and water"
The woman nodded and shook her head. "My village is just across the island," She said.
They looked surprised. They had scanned the entire vicinity. There hadn't been any sign of any village. As if sensing their thoughts, she laughed.
"The island is very big. There is no way you would be able to get to our village without direction I came here to get some conches so wait here a little while"
She gathered up conches lying on the beach. When she was through, she went back to them.
"My name is Sana. I will take you to my village, and give you food, water, and shelter. You both look like you have seen a lot"
"Shall we? It's a bit far from here" she said and they all left.
The two nodded feeling a bit wary. They had thought no other person inhabited this place except for them so they felt a bit off.
Jimin unconsciously grabbed Taehyung's hand and squeezed it tightly. The younger smiled at him.
"It's going to be okay"
Sana noticed their interlocked hands and grinned. "You two haven't told me your names yet?"
"Oh... I'm Taehyung and he is Jimin"
She nodded as they kept going. "Are you two a couple?"
Jimin shook his head rapidly but Taehyung seemed so calm.
"No we aren't a couple" he protested hoping the woman would believe him but she just smiled.
"We saw a group of people like you. We picked them up yesterday, and some of them were in terrible condition. They are all in the village"
Could it be? Taehyung and Jimin looked at each other. Maybe their friends were alive.
"They could be the friends you were talking about," Sana said.
Jimin squeezed Taehyung's hands tighter. "How far is your village?"
"It might take a while" Sana answered.
Taehyung watched the beautiful boy beside him. He looked so cute. He wanted to say something to him but he couldn't. Somehow, he wished they were still stranded on the island.
More to come in the next chapters. Keep reading, bye!
