Thirty four
"You crazy bastard!" Kim Taejun yelled in extreme anger as he threw a glass plate across the room. It landed straight on Taehyung's fore head causing immediate bleeding. The blood flowed from the open wound down his cheeks to his chin.
Kim Taejun was heaving heavily as he walked over to Taehyung and slapped him across the face.
"How crazy did you get that you had to do something like this? You have ruined everything!"
Taehyung couldn't move or react. He was already used to his father's abusive actions. But right now, he knew he had been truly crazy. He deserved whatever punishment he was going to get for going against his father.
"I'll destroy that boy Park Jimin and his entire family" his father growled, eyes shining bright with hatred
"I'm going to take care of it!" Taehyung blurted.
Kim Taejun eyed him. "And how do you intend to do that?"
"I'll divorce him right away. I have been drawing up the divorce papers with some lawyers. I'll send the documents to him and finalise everything!"
"You'll finalise everything? Are you really sure about this?" Kim Taejun said breathing heavily, sweat spreading all over his skin"I'm sure father!"
Kim Taejun shook his head as his breathing calmed. "You better take care of it before your wedding which is in two weeks or I swear you will never hear the end of it!"
He grinned wickedly. "But for now, you have to be punished for your stupid mistake"
Taehyung gulped knowing what was coming next. He was immediately siezed by the guards and brought to the living room. He knelt down closing his eyes tightly as his father flogged him with his long whip till he was unconscious and his back was bleeding. When he awoke, he was back in his room lying face down on the bed with an aching back. Now more than ever, he had to get rid of Park Jimin from his life.
The next day, Jimin walked briskly towards his car. Despite all that has been going on, he still had work to do in the office. He couldn't shirk his responsibilities even though all he thought about night and day was Taehyung.
His phone suddenly rang in the inner pocket of his suit and he paused midstride to answer it.
"Hello!" He said.
"Jimin..."
His heart danced in excitement as soon as he heard his voice.
"Taehyung?" He muttered. He couldn't hide his own excitement at hearing his voice again but when the latter spoke again, it was full of detachment, devoid of the one who had once loved him like a mad man he was willing to take a bullet for him.
"I need to talk to you urgently. We have to meet"
"Is anything wrong?"
"Why would you even care?" He heaved deeply. "Meet me at the resort. One o clock sharp"
With that, he ended the call so abruptly. It felt like a stab to the heart but Jimin consoled himself with the fact that he could at least see him again and perhaps put his plan in motion. It was now or never.
He entered into his car. He was no longer interested in work but on Taehyung. He missed him. He craved his touch, his kisses but he knew he had to face reality. It didn't seem like anything was going to happen between them in the near future.
It didn't take long for him to arrive at the resort. He parked his car and walked towards their favorite spot at the resort where they would secretly meet.
He released a tight gasp when he saw him. He was beautiful like always. His leg crossed as he sat waiting. But there was something about him that seemed different even when he turned his eyes and their eyes met, he could feel the hostility coming off of him but there was something else, a different kind of sadness he couldn't explain.
"You're finally here" he said non chalantly as his eyes roamed the entire length of his body.
Jimin slowly walked over to him trying hard to mask his emotions but he was doing a poor job of it. He sat down and smiled.
"How are you doing?"
Taehyung gave a fake smile. "Fine! Just fine!"
Jimin suddenly noticed the band aid on Taehyung's forehead.
"Hey, what happened to you?"
Taehyung frowned. "That shouldn't concern you"
Jimin nodded. He knew his father was responsible for this but he kept silent unwilling to anger Taehyung any further. There was an awkward silence before Taehyung spoke.
"As you well know, I'm getting married in two weeks but unfortunately, it can't be possible until we severe our ties"
Jimin gulped. The long awaited moment is here.
"What do you mean?"
Taehyung sighed. "Exactly what it means Park Jimin. I want a divorce!"
Divorce. As soon as he heard that word, his blood pressure rose. Divorcing Taehyung would have made everything so much easier but then again, there would nothing else tying them together anymore. It would be truly over.
"You want a divorce?"
Taehyung scoffed. "Why wouldn't I? I have no idea what I was thinking when I decided to marry you"
Jimin smiled. "Is that why you have a plaster on your head? I know it's done by your father"
"Shut up Jimin. It's none of your business okay? Stop saying bullshit!"
He produced a paper from the inner pocket of his black jacket and spread it out on the table.
"Sign it and let's get this over with"
Jimin stared at the paper long and hard causing Taehyung's irritation to increase by the second.
"What the hell are you doing? Sign the damned paper!" Taehyung said.
"No!"
Jimin got up and snatched the paper. Taehyung rose up too looking at him in shock.
"What do you mean no and what the hell do you think you are doing?" He asked.
"Kim Taehyung! You love me. I know it. There's a part of you that still remembers what we shared together!"
Taehyung rolled his eyes clearly annoyed. "Yeah right!" He whispered.
"One week! Give me one week and if I don't change your mind by then, I will sign the papers"
Taehyung stared at him in disbelief. "Are you crazy? What are you trying to do? start a war?"
Jimin said nothing.
"And how do you think you can change my mind? Are you going to make me fall in love with you or what?".
He laughed sarcastically " That's absurd and why would you even want that? It's better we just end it once and for all. After all, you said it yourself that you don't love me so why the hell are you doing this now? To continue your revenge?..."
"Keep quiet Kim Taehyung!" Jimin yelled straining his eyes at him. Taehyung saw that firm look in his eyes and zipped his lips.
Jimin grabbed his hand and pulled him along.
"Let go of me!" Taehyung yelled freeing himself from his grasp.
"If you want me to sign the papers then you're going to have to do what I say"
Taehyung peered at him closely. "What are you trying to do. Sign the goddamn paper Jimin!"
"Give me one week Tae, just one week. There's something important you have to know. I know you really don't want to get married and you're feeling so many things right now but give me a chance to explain some things to you and if you still want to leave after that, you can. Please Tae"
Hearing that name Tae made his heart swell with a certain kind of pain but he waved it aside and just decided to follow him. His eyes was calm and in a strange way, comforting.
"Okay, but don't try to pull a fast one on me!"
Jimin just gave him a satisfied smile. Images suddenly flashed before his eyes but he shook his head until they had disappeared. Jimin turned and started walking towards his car with Taehyung right behind him. This was wrong. Why was he even following him? Why was he even giving him a chance? To explain what? To do what? To win him back? And why was he so damn angry all the time? Who was he angry at? Jimin or himself?
He found himself following the son of his father's worst enemy to his car, entering the car and driving off listening to the sound of soft music playing. Why was he even here? Right now, he felt like he wasn't himself and that something was pushing him forward. Maybe to discover the answers that where slowly eating him up inside. How could he love someone so much one minute then fall out of love the next? What would have driven him to take a bullet for this man he says he no longer loves yet dreams of every freaking night. What on earth would push him to ask him to marry him? Why didn't he feel like he did a month ago? It wasn't heartbreak. It was something else entirely. It felt like something was been ripped away from him.
"Where are we going?" He asked
"You'll see!" Came the simple reply.
He suddenly found himself staring at the profile of the older as he concentrated on the road ahead. He examined his face closely. Why was he making him so confused? Why did it even have to be him?
The stripes from his back still hurt and bled. a strong reminder not to let himself be swayed by Jimin. No, he would never be swayed.
To be continued....
