Sixteen

Now let's continue...
That night, they lay in their queen size bed very quietly. Jimin ensured that there was enough space between them. He wasn't ready to open up to Taehyung, even pretending to love him was difficult. So much was at stake here.
"Hey Jimin, are you alright? You've been acting odd" Taehyung's deep voice resounded in his ears.
Jimin barely nodded his head. "I'm fine" he whispered.
A strong breeze suddenly blew into the room from the open window. Jimin got up from bed to close the windows but Taehyung held him back.
"I'm sorry Jimin but could you leave them open?"
"Why?"
Taehyung blushed "I just feel more comfortable with the windows open but if you don't want to... "
"No no, it's fine. The weather is a bit hot anyway" Jimin said and left the windows the way it was before returning to sleep beside Taehyung. His back turned to him.
"Jimin...." Taehyung whispered. The older didn't want to answer him but he did anyway.
"Yes?"
There was an uncomfortable silence before he heard his voice again.
"Nothing, you can go to sleep"
Jimin arched his eyebrow seriously. "Are you sure?"
"Yep!" Taehyung answered and Jimin took a deep breath before closing his eyes. Before long, he was fast asleep.
His eyes opened to the rays of the sun.
"Morning sunshine!" Taehyung said in a gleeful voice. Jimin rubbed his eyes still feeling the pangs of sleep all over his body.
"You look really cute when you are asleep" He added and grinned.
Jimin yawned. "What time is it?"
"I have no idea. I haven't seen any clock since I got here but I think it will probably be eight in the morning"
The sleep had already vanished from Jimin's eyes. He could see that Taehyung was now fully dressed in a white shirt and jean shorts.
"You should wash up and get dressed Jimin. Didn't you say you wanted to make a call today?"
Jimin remembered. "Oh yeah, that's right"
He stood up and looked around cluelessly. Taehyung pointed to some clothes folded neatly on top of the bed.
"Sana brought them over. You should meet us outside for breakfast after you're done"
He smiled widely and left the room. Jimin took a quick bath and wore the clothes. A white tee shirt and brown pants. It felt comfortable. When he went outside, the six men were all at the table. His eyes fell on Jungkook and he shivered to remember yesterday night. It hadn't been a dream. It had been real. Jungkook was an angel, An angel.
"Hey Jimin, are you alright?" Jin said staring at him. They were all looking at him strangely.
He didn't realize he had been standing there staring at the other boy for more than five minutes.
"I'm fine" He muttered shaking his head as he sat down beside Taehyung who was grinning from ear to ear.
There was so much food on the table. Jimin wondered how a small village could provide for their needs so well. He was beginning to feel a bit ashamed for infringing on their hospitality. It was more than enough reason for him to leave.
"Yoongi, please eat, open your mouth" Hoseok was whispering to Yoongi who was just staring dully at him as he hovered a spoon filled with rice in front of his face.
"I told you I don't want to eat!" He said looking annoyed.
"You have to eat. You almost died...."
Yoongi angrily pushed his hand away, the spoon along with the rice falling on the ground.
"Damn it, I told you I didn't want to eat. Stop treating me like a child" He yelled into Hoseok's face.
Hoseok's lips began to shake furiously and it looked like he was going to break down at any moment.
"I'm sorry. Excuse me" he whispered.
He stood up and ran out. A strange awkward silence fell over them.
"You asshole! How could you treat Hoseok like that?" Jin attacked glaring at Yoongi.
Yoongi stared back at him looking a bit frightened at his intimidating glare.
"Do you know how worried he was for you? He blamed himself for what happened to you thinking you were going to die. He was with you all the time. He never once left your side. The least you could do was eat the damned rice" He yelled.
"Jin..." Namjoon started but Jin had already stood up.
"Don't you ever try to hurt my friend again because the next time you do, I won't be this civil"
He slammed his spoon so hard on top of the table, that everybody jumped including Yoongi. He left them at the table and they knew he was going to comfort Hoseok.
"Not cool Yoongi...not cool" Namjoon muttered.
Yoongi looked regretful biting his lip. "Come on, we always treat them like this," he said in a low voice.
Namjoon sighed. "Look around you Yoongi, things have changed and we have to change too. Somehow our destinies were intertwined. It means something"
Yoongi just shrugged as Namjoon stood up and walked away clearly upset about Jin.
Jimin didn't know what to say. The six of them had become complicated. Former enemies were now forced to get along with each other due to a situation out of their control and no one knew it was because of Jungkook. Only Jimin knew. Yoongi didn't finish his food. He just ate a little and left looking more grumpy than ever.
They were the only three remaining at the table. They ate in total silence and when they finished, Sana came to clear the table.
"Please Sana, can I get a phone?" Jimin said.
"Of course" She answered with a smile as she left with the plates. Jungkook was smiling looking at them both. Taehyung seemed uncomfortable at his strange smile.
"What is it?" He said.
"Do you like Jimin?"
Taehyung grinned. "Of course I do," He said and pulled Jimin closer to him by the waist. The older gasped and stared at Jungkook wondering what he was planning in that head of his.
He looked at Jimin "And Jimin, do you like Taehyung?"
What the hell? Now he understood what Jungkook was doing. He was planting the seed of doubt in Taehyung's mind.
"Well... I... I... "
Jungkook winked at him and gave him a look that told him not to fuck this up.
He gulped feeling like he was going crazy. "Yes...yes, em I....like you"
Taehyung's face brightened. "Really? So you have finally decided to return my feelings?"
Jimin scratched his head. "I don't know...."
Jungkook suddenly spoke "Yes...Jimin couldn't stop talking about you since yesterday. He kept telling me how good of a kisser you are..."
Jimin was shocked. "What?"
How did he even know he and Taehyung had kissed before? Oh, wait. He's an angel.
Taehyung grinned "Is that so Jimin?"
Jimin rolled his eyes. He wanted the ground to swallow him up at that same moment.
"He kept talking about you on and on... "
"That's enough!" Jimin shouted and turned to Taehyung with a fake smile. "Don't listen to anything he says..."
"Wait a minute," Taehyung said gazing deep into his eyes. Jimin couldn't help it but his heart was beating too fast. The way Taehyung was looking at him. It was too hot, too intense.
"So you liked the kiss?" He whispered.
Jimin couldn't hide the blush that appeared on his cheeks.
"And you pretended that you didn't...."
He kept coming closer and closer while Jimin kept moving back until he was stopped by a wall, his back pressed hard against it. He sucked in a breath.
"I hope you don't mind if I kiss you"
Jimin forgot everything, even Jungkook who was standing a few meters away, watching them intently. The only thing he could see was Taehyung's beautiful lips parted seductively in front of him.
He couldn't deny it. Taehyung was a great kisser and he hated to admit it yet the temptation to give in to those lips was so strong. Slowly, he found that they were moving towards each other. Closer, closer. Their lips almost touched until they heard a voice.
"I've gotten your phone...." Sana said but when she saw the scene before her, she froze.
"oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to disturb you, I'll just leave"
She looked so red.
Jimin pushed Taehyung away quickly and adjusted his clothes looking downright embarrassed.
"No don't go, it's fine. Nothing happened" He said. He didn't fail to notice the disappointed look in Taehyung's eyes or how Jungkook pouted his mouth in annoyance.
Sana took a deep breath avoiding Taehyung's angry piercing look. "Here's the phone. The tower is a straight walk from the village. You can take the bicycle in the barn to get there faster"
"Oh okay, thanks Sana"
The woman nodded and practically ran out of the house.
A smile spread on Taehyung's face as soon as she was gone.
"I could accompany you. I need to call my people too" Taehyung said with a mischievous smile.
"Oh, alright," Jimin said.
"Have a nice day" Jungkook whispered and Jimin couldn't help but feel something was off about him.
They left together and Jimin couldn't forget about the kiss they almost had. He could have just kissed back but it was difficult because he knew the harsh truth. Taehyung didn't love him.
To be continued.....
