Forty seven
Taehyung wished to never wake up again whenever he went to bed but the sun was always shining beautifully every morning signalling that it was a beautiful day. But it wasn't beautiful to him, it was dark and dreary, not worth living.
He had done everything his father wanted, giving interviews, taking pictures and doing everything he was supposed to do regarding his wedding but the smile had left his face, his soul was gone, the only thing left was a shell, an empty human shell.
"Taehyung, are you even listening to me right now?" Jisoo's angry voice reawakened him to this present situation.
"Huh?" He said, his mouth hanging slightly agape.
She narrowed her eyes at him clearly irritated.
"Really? I'm talking about the cake. How does it taste?" She said.
Taehyung shook his head trying to clear his mind so he could focus. They where at a cake tasting trying out different cakes and seeing which one tastes better. He nodded his head satisfactorily as he ate a piece of chocolate cake. It simply melted in his mouth and he guessed it was okay. Either way, he didn't really care.
"I guess this one's better" he said with a forced smile pointing at the chocolate cake quickly. He wanted to leave here as soon as possible.
Jisoo arched her brows. "Are you sure? Because I think the strawberry one is more delicious"
Taehyung simply shrugged. "Any of them is okay I guess"
Jisoo watched him silently without saying a word before turning to the staff waiting patiently in front of them. She pointed to the chocolate cake and smiled.
"I guess we'll take that one"
The woman nodded. "Alright, just follow me and make a deposit. When's the wedding?"
Jisoo'svsmile was almost wider than her face. "Three days... It's in three days" she said.
The woman nodded her head. "It will be delivered at the exact day just come with me please"
Jisoo immediately followed the woman, leaving Taehyung to stand there alone looking at the ground and just thinking about how he could escape from this predicament when he looked up and gazed through the huge glass window trying to distract his mind with the happenings of the road. His breath suddenly hung as his eyes targeted a figure walking down the street towards a waiting cab. The figure looked so much like Jimin with the same shiny blonde dyed hair, firm back side, sturdily built and that gentle feminine way of walking.
At that moment, the longing and pain he felt from their break up washed all over him, soaking him and bringing his legs to a sudden run as he pushed open the door wildly. Jimin! He needed to see him. Even if it was only to ask how he has been doing? To tell in his eyes if their separation was affecting him the way it was doing to himself because it was slowly killing him. He didn't know how much longer he could hold on. More than that he just wanted to hear his voice.
He was basically sprinting, he was sure he must have beaten the world sprint record when he finally reached Jimin's figure when he was just about to enter the cab and forcefully yanked him back. He took some seconds to regain his breathing before looking at the face staring back at him but he froze because it was the face of a stranger. On a closer inspection, the man didn't have such a familiarity with Jimin apart from the blonde hair and built body. He has started seeing things now. He was going crazy for thinking about his ex too much.
"Who are you?" The man asked angry at him for dragging him.
Taehyung began to bow his head apologizing profusely. "I'm so sorry" he said.
The man looked at him shaking his head before entering inside the cab. Taehyung couldn't believe he actually did that. He had allowed his emotions take over him. Slowly, he began to drag his leg to the bakery, shoulder slumped. When he arrived, he found a fuming Jisoo waiting for him.
"Where were you?" she demanded.
"Nowhere, I just had to see someone" He answered.
She crossed her arms over her chest frowning hard.
"Did you see the someone?" She said sarcastically.
No reply. Instead, he shook his head "Can we leave now? Are you done?" he rushed.
She suddenly brightened recovering her former cheerfulness and seemingly forgetting her earlier anger.
"Yes, we are done here but we still have one more stop"
She took a deep breath. "My wedding dress"
Taehyung rolled his eyes, annoyed but he couldn't show it.
"I thought you've gotten your wedding dress" he almost shouted.
"Well, I didn't have time to get the dress because for some reason, your father has been rushing the wedding but it's okay. I don't mind"
She held out her hand for him to hold and he did so reluctantly. He couldn't even bear to touch her now. How was he going to cope for the rest of his life. No, there has to be a way out of this dilemma.
"So shall we?" Jisoo whispered and he gripped her hand wordlessly as they left the bakery amidst the thanks and goodbye greetings from the staffs.
They drove to the wedding store where Jisoo wanted to get her dress. It was a popular wedding store that sold beautiful but expensive wedding dresses. As soon as they entered, they were greeted warmly and Jisoo was led to go and try out some of the dresses while Taehyung sat boredly waiting for her.
She soon came out displaying different sets of dresses. Taehyung obliged her smiling fakely as she came out to pose for him. After a while she was getting frustrated that Taehyung just seemed to smile at every of them without critiquing a single one of them
"Tell me, which of them fits me?" She said smiling seductively but it didn't seem to move Taehyung.
"You can choose anyone. They are all beautiful!" he said.
She started to complain. "I don't like this Taehyung. You need to tell me...."
He wasn't looking at her or even listening to her anymore because something had caught his attention outside the big glass window. This wasn't a mistake, neither was it a dream. Jimin was few meters away from him standing at the side walk as if he was waiting for someone and Taehyung had to admit, he looked so good.
He couldn't help it when he found himself dashing out of the wedding store, his legs moving on its own towards his ex. A black car slowed down and stopped in beside Jimin. Taehyung was so close when he finally realized something painfully true. They were over now. They were no longer anything to each other. Their story had ended and everything had changed now. There was nothing left to say. They couldn't greet each other. As what? Former friends? Ex husbands so did the only thing he could at that moment. He stopped running and just stood there to look at the man who still made his heart beat faster than normal, who made him fall in love with him twice.
As if on cue, Jimin paused as he was about entering the car. He looked up and their eyes met. It was as though the puzzle had been completed as they stood completely enraptured by each other, no one else mattered. Taehyung could see in his eyes a mixture of shock and excitement in the other's eyes and right there, he knew that he wasn't the only one suffering. His ex was suffering too. He wanted to move an inch closer when he felt an arm around his. He turned and saw Jisoo with the wedding dress looking from him to Jimin with confusion. She had gone after him as soon as he had run off like a mad man.
His heart thumped as he looked at Jimin whose eyes held sadness and pain as he stared at them. Slowly, he averted his gaze and entered the car. The door closed and it zoomed off. Taehyung just watched the car drive away.
"Wasn't that Park Jimin?" Jisoo asked.
No reply.
"Did you run out on me just to meet him?"
"Why were you two looking at each other like that?"
"What's going on between you?"
Taehyung didn't say a word to any of her questions as he wiped a single tear from his eyes.
Jisoo gasped staring at him with wide eyes "Did you just cry?"
Taehyung finally took a deep breath. "Let's go" he said stiffly and started walking away. She followed behind him unaware that his mind was somewhere else. It was on the blonde haired man who had left some seconds ago looking like the very picture of sorrow. A picture he would never ever forget.
I just wanted them to see each other again before things start getting ugly. Anyway, hope you enjoyed. Have a great day. Bye!
