Fifty four

"This is yours?" Kim Taejun said to the shorter cute man staring at him.

"Oh... Yes thank you" The man said blushing a deep red. Taejun smiled secretly as he looked at the other. He couldn't blame him. His good looks tended to have that effect on people the first time they saw him.

"What about the thief?" He suddenly asked.

"Oh... Well he got away"

It was a lie. The truth was he had let him go. Things where really bad at the north side so he understood why anyone would resort to stealing. There where hardly any good jobs available or good facilities so people did whatever they could to survive. Him included.

Prior to that moment, he had actually been watching him from the minute he parked his very fancy white car in front of his gate. He was suspicious and had wanted to confront him but the look in the man's eyes stopped him. The look he had when he was gazing into the land and his overall beauty no doubt struck him. His skin looked so soft he was tempted to touch it, to run his fingers over it and those lips they looked so full and delicious curved up in a small smile. So he stayed at a corner watching the handsome stranger until a suspicious looking fellow stood behind the man, reached into his back pocket and took out his wallet before running away. Taejun hadn't wasted time in going after the rascal and retrieving the wallet.

He put his hands on his hips looking at the other for a while before speaking.

"So what's a rich guy like you doing at this part of the city? Don't you know it's dangerous"

The man gulped and seemed to be hesitating to talk before he finally did.

"Um... I'm here for business"

Taejun arched an eyebrow

"Business?"

He inquired and folded his arms over his chest.

"What kind?"

Hye sun didn't understand why this guy was asking all these questions. He didn't owe him any explanation for what he's doing here so he sighed.

"It's confidential" he simply said.

"Confidential!" Taejun whispered.

"Are you a drug dealer?" he suddenly added making Hye sun flabbergasted.

"No, I'm not a drug dealer!"

"A kidnapper?"

"No!"

"A scam artist?"

Hye sun chuckled slightly amused. "No! No! I'm none of those things. I just work for some people and I came here because I need a place to stay for a while"

Taejun shrugged. "Well... You can just stay at a hotel"

Hye sun shook his head rapidly.

"No...no hotels. I get really uncomfortable around hotels and I just need to stay at a family house or something...somewhere close by"

Taejun scratched the back of his head looking thoughtful.

"Well...you could stay at my place. We don't rent our houses anymore due to some current issues but for you, I'll make an exception"

He smiled smugly and Hye sun smiled back.

"Thank you so much" he whispered.

Instantly, Taejun noticed his eye smile and his heart began to beat faster in his chest but he shook his head ignoring the feeling as he pointed at the gate.

"That's my house"

The man's mouth was slightly agape.

"You are the owner of this house?"

Taejun shrugged. "Well, I inherited it from my father after he passed away"

Hye sun bit his lips hard and Taejun found it so cute.

"Anyway, first things first. We should know each others names. Mine is Kim Taejun. Nice to meet you"

He offered him his hand. The other stared at it for a couple of seconds before gently squeezing it"

"Pa... Hye sun. Nice to meet you too" he said.

Taejun loved his small soft hands. He wanted to hold it a bit longer but it would only seem weird so he retrieved his hand and nodded.

"Okay... Let me show you around. What about your things?"

"I'll move them by this evening"

Taejun nodded then opened the gate and entered, Hye sun following right behind him. What was the odds that he would run into the very person he was looking for? He hadn't wanted to lie but he had been put on the spot so he had to come up with something immediately and his lie was better than he thought.

"So when you said you have some issues what did you mean?" he suddenly asked.

Taejun stopped walking and stopped to look at him before he sighed.

"There's this big company. I'm sure you've heard of it. It's known as the Parks company. They buy up all sorts of things and they want to purchase this land."

"Why don't you sell it to them? It's obvious you need the money" Hye sun said looking at a row of dilapidated bungalows in obvious need of repairs.

Taejun frowned "I'll never do that. I'll never sell my land to a bunch of rich greedy men who only want to build a resort to gather more wealth for themselves"

Hye sun quietened knowing this talk had an effect on Taejun.

"Because of them, my mother is in the hospital" He whispered gravely almost to himself but then shook his head.

"I don't want to talk about them. Let's move on"

They started walking again till they stopped in front of a wooden duplex whose walls where already washed off its paint but it still looked to be in order. The house was standing in the middle of the land surrounded by lush greenery.

"Here we are!" Taejun announced and opened the front door. Suddenly, someone busted out from the kitchen.

"Taejun, you are back!" Nara squealed excitedly as she looked at them.

Taejun seemed a bit taken aback. "Yah Nara, what are you doing here?"

"Your mother asked me to pick up some things for her" She said as her eyes landed on Hye sun.

"Who is he?" she whispered.

"His name is Hye sun and he'll be staying here for a while"

Nara's eyes widened. "He'll be staying here? But you never let anyone...."

"Don't you think you should start going now?" Taejun said a bit nervously and Hye sun didn't fail to notice how Nara glared at him. It was so obvious she didn't like him.

Taejun turned to him "Anyway, she is Nara. She is my mother's helper and she comes often to take care of the house"

He smiled gesturing towards the stairs. "So, shall we?"

Hye sun nodded and waved at Nara but she just glared back at him. They left her downstairs and headed upstairs.

"She doesn't like me does she?" He whispered.

Taejun chuckled. "Nara doesn't like anyone except me and my mom"

Hye sun nodded as Taejun opened the door to a room. He peered inside. It was small and neat but slightly dusty.

"So, this is your room" Taejun said loudly then afterwards pointed to the door opposite the room.

"And that's my room right in front of yours so if there's anything you want, just let me know"

Hye sun nodded smiling as he lowered his head.

"You're so pretty" Taejun silently blurted out without thinking and Hye sun raised his head.

"What?"

"um... It's nothing..." he stammered wiping his sweaty hands on his pants.

"Anyway you'll be paying One thousand won monthly...Feeding will be taken care of by yourself"

Hye sun flashed him a smile. "One thousand? Isn't that too cheap?"

Taejun grinned "I'm feeling quite generous"

Hye sun laughed. "Thank you for your generous offer"

He bowed. "You're welcome"

Hye sun laughed again and Taejun found himself staring at him totally mesmerized. Hye sun stopped laughing and started to look at him weirdly making him regain his senses.

"um... I have some work to take care of. I really have to run but I'll see you later" he said quickly.

Hye sun nodded and watched him leave in quite a hurry. He finally released the breath he had long being holding before looking around him.

What did he think he was doing here? He just told himself he was only here to get the land but deep down inside, he knew it was only an excuse because the minute he laid eyes on Kim Taejun, he was a goner.

He left the house and went back to his car then drove to his beautiful duplex to get some things he would need. Immediately he opened the door, he saw his fiancee Yumi sitting on the long couch a glass of wine in her hand. She was wearing one of his white shirt. She hurried to him wrapping her arms around him as she gave him a kiss on his lips. He forced a smile like he always did.

"Oh baby, I missed you. Where were you all day?"

"I had some things to take care of" He said walking towards his room. She followed him.

"I haven't been seeing much of you lately. Is your father bothering you with work again?"

Hye sun shrugged and she wrapped her arms around him.

"It's going to be okay"

She released him and noticed he was packing his clothes into a bag.

"Hye sun, where are you going?"

He stopped his packing and looked at her.

"I'm on a mission"

"A mission?"

"My father is interested in buying a land at the North but the owners refuse to sell and I'm going undercover in other to convince them to sell the land"

Yumi looked confused. "And how on earth are you going to do that?"

Hye sun "I don't know but I have to do something"

He resumed his packing and Yumi watched him. There was something a bit off about him but she just kept quiet until he was done packing.

"How long are you going to be gone?" she asked.

"It depends..."

She wrapped her arms around his neck. "Okay babe but be careful. Those northerners are savages"

"I can take care of myself"

"I know you can" She whispered and kissed him "I love you"

Again, he never said it back. He just nodded grabbing his bag as he started to leave.

"I will call you" he said and dashed off. She watched him leave with tears threatening to pour down her eyes. This is how it had always been since they got engaged six months ago. She should have gotten used to it by now but it still hurt and she had a feeling she was going to continue getting hurt.

Hye sun returned to Kim Taejun's house with his things. He waited for him but he didn't return until late in the night when he was already asleep.

He heard a small knock on the door causing him to rouse from sleep

"Hye sun?" It was Taejun's voice.

"Yes?"

"Are you asleep?"

"Yes!"

"Oh... Okay. Goodnight then"

"Goodnight"

He heard the door to the other room open and close before he drifted back to sleep with a smile on his lips.

Thanks for reading. Plenty of love to you all. Have a great day!
