Isabelle Reacts
Isabelle was pacing the floor, phone in hand. Elsa had run away, or so Anna said. "How do you know she ran away?" she asked. In her mind, this entire situation was quite silly. There was no reason Elsa should not be happy. She was the ruler of a kingdom! Anyway, she had people who loved her, which was more than Isabelle could say about herself. When Anna responded. Isabelle could hear her voice, thick with tears, and the murmur of others near her, trying to soothe her. They didn't understand how Anna knew Elsa had run away, and Isabelle didn't understand either. "She's afraid it will happen again. Like last time. And after all that, I can't blame her. She thinks that no matter what she does, at least around people, there will always be a part of her that wants to hurt me. Or the others. She thinks that it will be better for her, for all of us, if she can finally be free. She doesn't understand that she has already hurt me, by going away." That was her response to the question. Isabelle could see it now. Elsa wanted to do what was best for others, but also for herself. She was so selfless, but she wanted to be selfish. She wanted to be herself, for once. And she thought the best way to do both was to leave. So in her heart, Isabelle knew that Anna was right. Elsa had run away. "I'll be over in three hours." She told Anna, and hung up. She lingered for a moment, thinking. Maybe Elsa had it worse. Her parents had loved her, but sometimes in the wrong ways. They made her insecure, like she had to hide her power for the betterment of others. Maybe that was why she was so selfless. She had been raised for the betterment of others. Isabelle's situation was completely different. Her parents hadn't wanted to rule a kingdom with children to bother them, so they left practically as soon as Isabelle could feed herself. They had deserted her, and that made it hard for her to love them. And she had no siblings, no one else. That had forced her to use her powers, not hide them, so she wouldn't be pulled into the mind-numbing coldness of depression. It made her strong. She had found happiness. She ruled a kingdom. She put down the remains of the phone which was now a hot mess, literally, and told her guards to prepare a chariot.
