25 🐺
Namjoon's POV:
Today is the day. Last night my parents and I stayed over at my uncle's house to help out
with the food, decorations, music, ect. Now that everything was settled and prepared, I went to the guest bedroom where I stayed last night with my cousin, Kangdae.
I spent the night talking with Kangdae until the sun came out. He's a very talkative person, and so am I. Yeah... Our parents scolded us for staying up so late. Ha! If only they knew Jin and I were up until 4:00 A.M. having sex... Did I say that out loud?
"Jooooon! Are you listening to me, bro??" I cocked my head up, apologizing to Kangdae.
"Hmm? Yeah, sorry, I was just thinking about something."
"What's on your mind?" I had to think of a quick excuse to avoid exposing myself.
"The balloons are kind if crooked from this angle, don't you think?" Well... So much for a good excuse.
"Well duh, they're filled with helium, not cement." My uncle shushed Kangdae for my mocking voice.
"It's fine, don't scold him, uncle." The guests invited to my party started to show up.
I was still adjusting the speakers for the music, attempting to turn the music up but nothing was working. Even on the highest number, the volume was still low. I couldn't hear a thing.
"Kangdae! I think it's broken. . . Or perhaps I broke it. You know how good I am in breaking things." My cousin and I laughed.
"You break things alright, just like your girlfriend's heart." I blushed.
"My WHAT?! No no, I don't have a girlfriend, hahaha!" My nervous laughter started to show.
"Is that why? Because you always break their hearts?" An awkward silence lasted in between my cousin and I.
Until he laughed.
"I'm just pulling on your tail, Joon."
"My tail?! Don't pull that." Knowing I was a wolf, I checked behind myself to see if my tail was actually being pulled, unaware that my cousin was just using a common phrase with me.
"It means "I'm joking", I'd never pull your tail, oh my God!" He covered his mouth.
I face palmed myself so hard, my forehead started burning up. Very few people in my family know that I'm a wolf, but the few members that do know, all treat me like a normal person and make me feel comfortable around the others.
One by one, the tables started getting filled with people. I greeted my friends, nicely, as they handed me gift cards, regular cards with money in them, and regular presents.
My day was going great, so far. Everyone was having a great time, but I was still spaced out, thinking if Jin and his parents would make it to the party. It's been two hours since it started already and almost all of the tables were full.
And still no sign of the Kim family anywhere.
"Should I try to text Jin?" The minute I picked my phone up, a car pulled up in our driveway. I turned my head around and saw when Jin and his parents all got down from the car.
My heart wasn't beating fast before, why am I getting these sudden palpitations in my chest? And is that a box they're carrying?
"Happy Birthday, Joonie!" The Kims all congratulated me with a hug. I found it hard to let go of Jin when he hugged me last.
When I let him go, I noticed his ears had turned red and were fluttering uncontrollably, just like the butterflies in my stomach.
"Oh! Look who's here! I'm glad you made it." I overheard my mom greeting Jin's parents. This gave Jin and I some time to head inside.
"Let's go upstairs to talk before the party begins." We ran off with a smile from ear to ear on our faces, then Jin stopped running when he bumped into someone.
"I'm sorry, s...sir." Jin slowly walked behind me.
"Is this the special friend you were talking about last night, Joon?" I instantly responded to the familiar man in front of me.
"Yes, uncle. This is Jinnie. Jinnie this is my uncle." My uncle's facial expression suddenly changed. He held his hand out until Jin placed his hand on top of his and shook hands with him.
"Jinnie. What an adorable name for such a rare hybrid." Our facial expressions changed, hearing my uncle mention the word "hybrid" in Jin's presence.
"How did you know Jinnie was a hybrid?" I stuttered out of surprise.
"I have to get something out of the car, I'll be back soon." I didn't have the time to even call out Jin's name before the boy had already ran off. Judging by his stuttering, I can tell Jin was as surprised as I was.
"He's grown so much." Grown? First he knew that Jin was a hybrid and now he's saying that Jin has "grown" what exactly does my uncle mean by that?
I have to get to the bottom of this mystery before the party begins. And I need Jin back by my side.
"Uncle, have you and my friend met before?" A crooked smile on his face confirmed to me that my uncle and Jin had an encounter before.
"I'm his father's friend. Jin is just an acquaintance of mine."
Something tells me that they weren't 'just' strangers to each other...
