Thirst
🎶
"God, it stinks out here..."
The night air was thick with a heady combination of aromas, making the young vampire wrinkle his nose the moment he stepped on his building stoop.
Everything and everyone held a distinct scent. Some were sweet and appealing. Some were pungent and offensive. Some so neutral you barely notice it's there.
As the rain drizzled over the chattering citizens and their scents mixed as they moved about, Jungkook takes a moment to focus himself. He couldn't get distracted by the masses right now. Something was calling to him and all he had to do was allow his instincts to lead the way.
He closes his eyes.
He inhales slowly.
Feed...
The whispered hush of his thirst seems to brush past his right ear, making his head whip in that direction. He sees nothing but endless streets crowed by people and beaming headlights and tail lights. But he knew better by now than only trusting his eyes when it came to his instincts.
Whatever his body needed was out there and he would find it.
With a determined scowl, he stepped from the final step to fall into the crowd.
Jungkook tugged at the hood of his jacket self consciously. Bumping shoulders with humans in his current state of hunger was risky enough and he would rather no one noticed his blackened stare on contact.
It wasn't like anyone would pay him any attention though. One of the perks of falling into the flow of foot traffic. Everyone had their own agendas and plans to concern themselves with and Jungkook was just another drop in the ocean.
He smirks at the thought just as he finds himself at the edge of the curb where cars whizzed by him at an intersection. He glances up and sniffs curiously as he waited for the light to change.
Wet streets. Black skies. Misted air.
Nights like this, she was heavy on his mind. Her plush full lips. Her velvety smooth skin. Her wide rounded hips.
Horny...
Jungkook snorted humorlessly at the intrusive thought.
Vampires were a true enigma.
Human appearances with animalistic abilities. Soulless monsters and apex predators. Functioning beings devoid of mortality.
Imitations of life essentially.
They were the farthest thing from humanity and yet the same when it came to vulnerabilities of the flesh.
Sex and food.
Damn.
How long had it been since he'd.....
A pedestrian pushes past him, interrupting his thought. The intersection fills with bodies and Jungkook falls back in step with the others as they all crossed the streets.
Horny...
Thirsty...
Horny...
Thirsty...
Horny...
Thirsty...
Horny...
"Shut up shut up shut up shut up..." Jungkook hissed beneath his hood, turning his head away from the few curious eyes settling on him in passing.
Thirst was an insufferable little bastard.
Just when he was having trouble with his need for blood, his dick swelled and twitched beneath his pants at the thought of the last woman he'd ever allowed himself to want.
To need.
He missed her.
As much as he knew he shouldn't.
Jungkook hated how his inanimate soul still ached for her touch. The woman to blame for his condition. The monster who claimed him as hers until she'd had her fill of him.
Literally.
Tanya Lavigne...
That bitch...
Rouge lips, white teeth, and expensive perfume. Shapely hips and thighs with skin that looked as it had been kissed personally by the sun.
The irony.
Sometimes if he focused hard enough, he could still smell her on his skin. The sweetness of her venom was thick and sizzling in his veins. The warmth and wetness between her thighs. The coldness in her heart.
He'd like to think it wasn't her intention to turn him. The affection she showed him would say so. But maybe that was just a part of the game. For several months the steel-eyed vampire toyed with the young doe-eyed tattoo artist, pulling him in with her gaze the moment she strolled into his shop.
Many, many years ago...
It was late and storming viciously outside.
Music from the mounted Bluetooth speakers played softly overhead in the dimly lit establishment of black painted walls littered in gorgeous graffiti.
Jungkook was the only one inside as he prepared to close up for the night. The other two tattoo artists left an hour ago, leaving him with the end of night duties. Not that he minded. He enjoyed the emptiness of the shop and often hung back anyway to work on sketches.
He hums absentmindedly with his head down, broom in hand as he swept dust over the stained wood floors. He bit his lip and toyed with his lip piercing mindlessly and lost himself in his task.
Jungkook was a young man back then.
Barely 24 with his entire life ahead of him. He loved art and music, could draw or replicate any image from memory. His parents didn't support his interests and him being the ever rebellious Virgo, Jungkook didn't bend to the plans set out for him. He would live his life how he wanted. So he moved as far away from the comfort of his childhood home as he could, to a city of people who were too busy doing them to care about what he was doing. Though he hadn't the slightest idea of what that would entail outside of tattooing, he figured he would have plenty of time to figure it out.
Another irony.
The dustpan is slotted beneath his foot and he's pushing the small pile of dirt into it when the bell that hung from the front door tolled and the hiss of the heavy downpour make him lift his head from the floor.
He doesn't immediately see who had just entered his shop thanks to his long hair that hung over his brow. He only hears booted footsteps as they made contact with the floor in the doorway.
"Sorry! I didn't flip the sign yet but we're....." he begins. He lifts his head higher and shakes his silky bangs out of his eyes to see, lips parted in preparation to continue. The moment he sees her, however, his tongue seizes.
A chill runs through the open doorway on a breeze, sending her sweet intoxicating scent through the air and smack dab into Jungkooks face.
She wore a long black trench coat that cinched at her waist, wrapped tightly with the matching rope. The collar of the coat was open, revealing a peek of her smooth cleavage as she stepped further inside. Her long dark hair fell around her shoulders in waves, dripping at the ends as did her clothes.
A small puddle formed at her feet and Jungkook couldn't stop his eyes from traveling up her body.
"..closed..." he finally exhales. The woman smirks at his expression, also giving him a scan of intrigue before catching him in her eyes again.
She was gorgeous. Almost like a dream. Her deeply tanned skin glowed like the moon and her light grey irises twinkled lustfully as her full pink stained lips parted to speak. She was nothing like he'd ever seen.
Especially in a dark and gloomy place like this.
"Oh, I'm sorry...I was just caught in the storm and I didn't have an umbrella." she lies. Her voice was like velvet, smooth and dark. Enchanting almost. A hard lump forms in Jungkooks throat, making his voice crack when could finally speak.
"Oh uh...yeah that's ok. No need to..." he trails off when he finds himself lost in her eyes.
Her irises held the most peculiar shade that seemed to glint and shimmer like Mercury. Something in him, the smarter part of him that clung to his self-preservation, begged him to look away. But he couldn't. It was almost as if the moment he looked at her, a spell was cast.
"....apologize.." his voice felt far away and the soles of his feet seemed to melt into the floor the longer she held him in her gaze.
A soft hum of amusement passes through her lips and in an act of mercy, she relinquished the unnamed control she had over the young human.
For reasons, even she didn't know.
"Mind if I sit?" She changes course, narrowing her eyes at him curiously.
Jungkook blinks cartoonishly and straightens his posture as she stepped closer to him. It didn't seem like she expected him to say no so she walks with purpose.
"Um....." he says distractedly, furrowing his brow.
Did he mind?
He should.
It was late and he was ready to finish up so he could go home. Not be held up past business hours with some stranger.
A very, very attractive stranger who could have very well been naked beneath that coat.
He did his best to remain polite by not allowing his gaze to fall too deep into her neckline, but it was difficult. She must have sensed his struggle to maintain his decency and it has her smirking devilishly.
"Thanks...So........you here alone?" she asks, feigning mild interest as if it didn't matter. Jungkook nods without thinking and she smiles.
"Y...yeah. Yeah, it's just me..just closing up for the night," He stammers without thinking.
If only he knew not to tell her that.
She nods in understanding as she walked towards him with a feline's grace and Jungkook turns into stone. But to his surprise and relief, the alluring woman breezes past him and strolls towards the couch in the shop's waiting area.
"Nice...You got a name?" She asks over her shoulder. Her long hair fans out as she turned around and sat on the leather cushions.
Jungkook lingered where he had been through the entire exchange, broomstick grasped firmly in his hands. The woman sat comfortably a few feet away, her eyes appraising him as if he were a tall glass of wine at the end of a long day.
Her stare was suddenly intense and she cocks a brow expectantly when Jungkook left her question unanswered.
"Hello?" She says teasingly, flashing a perfect smile at him to break the trance he'd found himself in again. His neck straightens and he blinks a few times again.
"What the hell is wrong with me..." he says to himself as she read his every move with interest. He could feel her eyes on him, focused and heated. He clears his throat quietly before speaking.
"Jungkook..." he answers.
She smiles.
"Jungkook...I like it. Tanya.." she says, offering her name without any hesitation. Not knowing what to say, Jungkook nods and Tanya looks up at him with eyes filled with amusement.
That was when things became awkward if they hadn't been before.
Two strangers. A man and a woman. Alone on a stormy night after hours in a tattoo shop.
If he were smarter, he would have known that no one could just stumble upon his shop in passing. They were deep in a plaza and practically at a dead-end stop.
This was no accident or coincidence but he was far too naive to see it that way.
Just a stupid lamb, blindly mingling with a lioness.
Jungkook glances around stiffly, biting at his lip piercing as he did a quick scan of the floors he was working on.
"Yea so...I was just sweeping up. Like I said before, we're kinda closed so..." he trails off, unsure of what he wanted to say.
He knew what he should say.
But something in her gaze made it difficult to turn her away. Especially when she looked at him like that.
She liked this game.
She liked this...Jungkook. There was something about him that just made her want to drag this out vs her usual way.
Tanya scans the young man's body again, gauging his true height despite the boots he wore and his physical build despite the oversized black tee and cargos. He was fit and healthy. So she just knew he tasted immaculate.
And she was thirsty...
Want him...
Want him...
The ancient whisper entered the chat, only reiterating what she had been saying to herself the moment she spotted him from a distance through the misted windows.
Something led her to him that night and she'd lived long enough to know humans like him were rare.
Perhaps she'd have some fun with this one.
"Would it be ok if I kept you company until you're done? " she says after a beat and Jungkook lifts his brows as she leaned back in the couch. She lifts one leg to cross it over the other, giving him a generous view of the side of thick thigh peeking from beneath her long coat.
Want...
Him...
"Until I'm done?" He asks, his eyes breaking away from her smooth caramel legs to her face. She nods as she bounced the propped leg as if to draw attention to her sharp-heeled boots.
"Or until the storm passes. I live nearby but It's too far to get to on foot, at least in these shoes...in this weather...... Only if it's ok with you though, Jungkook."
The way she said his name made something in his chest tense and for a moment he could think of a way to tell her no.
Sure he wanted to go home but would it be right to leave this woman stranded and put out in the rain?
It wasn't like he had any plans and even though he resented the old woman, his mother taught him better than that.
Tanya watched as the wheels turned in Jungkook's mind, weighing his options and better judgments. She knew she's won when he glanced back over his shoulder in the direction of the switch that turned off the shop's open' sign. Then he lets out a sigh.
"You live around here?" He asks and Tanya nods.
"I do. At the Heights complex on Rose Street." She lies again.
Well, partially.
The man she'd killed a month ago lived there. He was such a hermit though. So no one found it odd that he hadn't been seen in a while.
People in upscale apartments mind the business as long as the rent was paid. No matter who was paying it.
Jungkook recognized the name and fails to hide the impressed expression on his face.
Made sense to him considering how she looked, even dripping wet with rain. He frowns in thought, glancing over his shoulder again before responding.
"Yeah...I guess that's cool. I don't live far and can give you lift to the Heights if you want..." he says and Tanya smiles gratefully at him.
"Wow....nice of you. Thank you.." she says and Jungkook shrugs. He resumes sweeping the tiny pile of dirt into the pan.
"Don't sweat it. Give me like....20 minutes then we can head out..." he kicks up the dustpan with his foot as he turned away and Tanya watched him take it to the nearby trash bin to empty it.
"Of course...." she calls to him with a sly grin. Jungkook says nothing else as he finished his duties around the shop. Turning everything off and locking doors and the registers, mumbling to himself his mental checklist to make sure he didn't miss anything.
All the while Tanya watched him subtly, acting more interested in the art on the walls than she was in him when she was in his view. After turning off the lights in the front, only the street lamps and occasional lightning flash lit the waiting area and Tanya remains unaffected by it.
"Be right back" Jungkook says before disappearing down a hallway behind the shop's front counter and Tanya has to keep herself from taking full advantage of this man's blind trust.
She could do it now.
He wouldn't even see it coming.
He wouldn't feel a thing.
But dammit.....he's cute.
Why did they always have to be so damn cute?
Want him...
Feed...
Thirsty...
Bored...
Horny.....
Want...
Him...
"Patience...." Tanya hushed her thirst's whiny chants and the voice lulled itself into compliance. Knowing it would soon be satisfied if its host played her cards right.
Several minutes later, Jungkook emerges from the back with his backpack slung over his shoulder and his jingling car keys in the other hand. His long wavy hair is hidden beneath a black bucket hat and he now wore a Nike windbreaker. Tanya sits up and uncrosses her legs when he rounded the front counter to stand in front of her.
"Ready?" he says, tilting his head towards the door.
The alluring woman responds by rising to her feet in the darkness as Jungkook waited.
"After you.." she nods ahead with a smile and Jungkook steadies his grasp on the strap of his backpack as he turned. With his back now to her, Tanya's grey eyes darken and her gums ached as the urge to attack him grew stronger within her.
But she merely swallows down the venom pooling at her tongue and steps with purpose towards the now open doorway that the ever chivalrous and ignorant young man held for her.
This would be fun.
Very fun indeed.
