Chapter 17 Preperation

Previously, on Love bite

"And it was a great idea" I tell him. "If anyone thinks otherwise about Luka's plan of attack, speak up now." The room goes silent, I cut my eye over towards Luka to find him smiling from ear to ear. Okay. We'll start training at dawn, until then you're all dismissed" I say.

So that was Luka's plan. I hope it works, I think to myself. Also I hope that Ace's situation doesn't reach the end result.

-------------------------------------------------------

Now Sophie

I spent the rest of the day running around like a chicken with its head cut off, First off I had to go back to the Omega's house to pick my duffel bag up. When I got there Kevin and Kyle both greeted me, but Karl couldn't. That's because he was fast asleep on the couch. I didn't stay long, just long enough to find out from them that both the electrolyte drink and the leftover soup were now in the fridge. Before I left I gave them very specific instructions to avoid giving him much sodapop or any sugary drinks for that matter, at least until he gets better. I went on to tell them that when Karl did get thirsty to give him the homemade drink instead, they agreed. Before I went anywhere else I dropped the duffel bag off by the house, so that I wouldn't have to lug it around everywhere else I went.

Second. I got the urge to check up on Misty. She had done a complete 180 from the last time I saw her. Her eyes and skin were both brighter, her long black hair that seemed to have a bit of faint Misty gray in it looked shinier, even the blood soaked bandage wrapped around her belly was gone. She was sitting up with Colt hunched over, almost his whole upper body in her lap. Colt's shirt was removed, with Misty's hand soothingly running up and down the back of his shoulder, gently scratching over the surface of a mate mark. I tried to look, but I couldn't see the design. I stayed and talked with them for a little while, but for the most part Colt stayed silent, enjoying the attention he was getting from his other half.

The last thing there was for me to do, I had to finish that mountain of paperwork that I had put off for far too long by the end of the day. I've said it to people before, and I'll happily say it again. I hate doing paperwork, it's one of the other things I dislike about being the Alpha. It would've taken me all night if it was just myself, but luckily for me, my uncle, Cody, and Luka were there to help me out. Because of them the job went by three times as fast. It was a good learning experience for Luka. Since he is going to be taking over the pack from me soon, it was a great opportunity to show him what is to be expected.

I wake with a groan and my eyes flutter open. I look around, my visions blurry, but once it clears and I realize its daylight out, I gently but quickly shake Luka awake. He wakes with a groan, same as me. Luka's eyes then flutter open, and he looks at me with those dreamy dark brown orbs.

"Come on Luka, up and at'em. Training starts today" I tell him as I get up off the bed.

"Oh great. I just got done with one kind of training, now I have to start another" Luka says with a groan, sitting up in the bed.

"Well you're going to have to if we're going to have even a chance of beating Ace. Now get up, get your shower, and meet me and Shelby downstairs for breakfast" I command as I start to make my way towards the bedroom door.

"Alright" He says sleepily as he softly rubs his drowsy looking eyes, throwing the covers off of him and sliding out of bed as he does so.

Once I walk out of mine and Luka's room I walk over to Shelby's, unlike the usual times in the past when I've come up to Shelby's room, this time I find the door closed. I give it a knock. "Shelby" I call out, but no response. I knock again. "Shelby?" I try once more, but still nothing. This time instead of knocking. I gently grab hold of the handle, and twist.

The door slowly opens revealing a seemingly empty room with all the lights turned off, the only source of light being the open blinds of the two bedroom windows that sit just above the headboard of the bed. After taking in the room, I make my way inside. If I didn't know better I would think the room has always been dormant, but I can barely make out that the bed's been slept in, with the covers thrown back and the bed messy. She must've just gotten up, I think to myself. As I start to look around.

I then hear sounds coming from the bathroom, I turn and look over my shoulder and see that the door is closed. Suddenly the noise stops, slightly curious I slowly walk over towards it. "Shelby?" I call out as I softly knock on the white door. The door slowly opens Revealing Shelby wearing a black sleeveless shirt, white long pants, and with her long red hair a darker shade of red then it usually is.

"There you are" I say.

"Yes. Sorry Sophie, but I was getting out of the shower when you knocked, so I couldn't come and let you in" She tells me.

"Its okay" I tell her, then something hits me. "Hey Shelby, why was your door closed?"

She thinks about it for a moment before replying. "Simple. With Luka being back I don't feel comfortable leaving the door to my bedroom open while I'm doing things like showering or bathing" She tells me. As I look at her however I can see that she's biting her lip, but I ignore it.

"Oh. Well, if that's all it is, come on then, let's go downstairs and eat breakfast" I tell her.

"Alright" she says as she flips off the bathroom lights, and we both walk out of her room.

Once we enter the kitchen, the two of us get an unexpected surprise. Someone has already started on making breakfast for the household, but it's not my aunt, it's not Elliot, nor is it my uncle. The tall man with the apron wrapped around his waist must hear us come in because as we see the back of him, he then turns around and looks at us. His red mustache curves upward into a smile and his eyes seem to light up.

"Good morning ladies, long time no see" Says Greg as he looks back at us.

"It's been too long Greg" I say as I speed walk over and hug him.

"Listen, Sophie. Congratulations on having Luka back in your life, but I'm sorry I couldn't be here to cook for you guys. I was feeling really bad, and didn't feel like getting out of the house much at all" He apologizes as we then break apart.

I then shake my head. "No Greg, it's okay. You shouldn't work when you're sick, it wouldn't have been good for you, and on a bad note you could've gotten all of us sick as well" I tell him. He then gives me an understanding nod. "Besides, you're feeling well now."

Greg's smile then turns into a slight frown. "Yes, but the bad thing about it is, now Victoria has it, and Amanda isn't far behind her, I can tell" He says.

"Well she isn't the only one, Karl's got it to" I tell him morosely.

"Oh that poor boy, I hope he's doing okay" Says Greg.

"Yeah. He's fine, Luka and I went down to see him yesterday, and for the most part, he was doing okay. Now he did have his brothers, Kevin and Karl helping him with somethings, but hopefully he's feeling better today"

"Oh and speaking of today you two girls better be getting to the table, the surprise for breakfast will be ready in a few" Says Greg.

Shelby and I make are way towards the table, as Greg goes back to hovering over the stove. "So what are you cooking today Greg?" I ask.

He then looks over his shoulder and smiles at me. "It's called a surprise for breakfast for a reason Sophie" He then replies with a chuckle.

"Oh come on" I say, like a child that just got told off. Greg grins at me, before turning back around and facing the stove.

I then feel warm arms wrap firmly around my body. I jump slightly, but then my whole body becomes jelly and sparks shoot up my body at his touch. I look up to find Luka looking down at me. His eyes seem to be lighting up sparks inside my soul. God how I love those eyes, I think to myself as I look into those deep, rich, dark brown orbs.

"Hey" I say with a smile and a slight chuckle.

"Hi back" he says, bending down a bit towards me. I then gently pull him towards me a bit more and give him a slight kiss on the lips.

"Sophie, who's that you're talking too?" Greg asks.

"It's just my Luka, Greg" I reply to him with a giggle.

Greg looks over his shoulder again, and his face is stunned at the sight of seeing Luka after almost two whole years. "Well, I'll be. Are you the same little Omega that Sophie brought home a little over two years ago?" he then asks him.

Luka's about to speak up, when I cut him off for a second when something hits me. "Okay, first, technically Greg. It was my aunt and Shelby who brought him home, and second. Yes if you're wondering, this is the same little Omega" I say, matter of factly.

"Oh, that's right. Forgot" He then says with a slight chuckle.

Luka then stands back up. "Hi Greg, good morning" he says to him nicely.

"Always the polite one Luka. That's the one thing I remember most about you, and come to think of it I think that's what everyone else remembers as well" Says Greg.

"Thanks Greg" Luka says as he sits down in the chair beside me.

"So, have you two lover birds marked each other yet?' Greg then asks us, as he turns his attention back towards whatever he's cooking on the stove, and I lower my head and let out a sigh.

"Luka's marked me, but I have yet to mark him" I reply in a low tone

"Woah, when did that happen?" Greg then asks the both of us, sounding slightly curious.

"The night before Luka left" I reply to him.

"Why didn't you mark him on the same night he marked you Sophie?" He then asks me.

"It was because of the injuries he received from Ace Summers" I reply. "Look, the night before Luka left he got released from the pack hospital. Now at the time most of the really bad injuries were healed, so when Luka told me he wanted me to mark him as a way to remember our last night together I didn't think anything of it. That was until I placed my hand on one of his shoulders, getting ready to mark him, when out of the blue he let out a groan, and then a hiss of pain. It's then that I realized that one of his shoulders, the one that I was going to mark, was still injured, so I didn't want to try it. However, the same couldn't be said for him marking me."

"But now that he's back home, why didn't you mark him last night or on the first night he was here with you?" Greg then asks.

"I didn't want to do it at this time with so much on my plate, and my whole pack in danger now. I mean, it's not that I don't want to, it's just I don't feel comfortable doing it while my pack is at risk" I reply.

"Well, that's understandable Sophie. Oh, and speaking of that" Greg says putting the surprise breakfast on three plates and bringing them over to the table. From where I'm sitting I can see that it has eggs, at least I know that now. "Hopefully this will give y'all enough strength and energy to make it through training for today."

As soon as he puts the plates down in front of us the mouthwatering scent of beef and eggs enters my nose. I look down at my own plate for a moment before I look back up towards Greg. "Steak and Eggs?" I ask him with a smile.

"Just like your father made you and your brothers on every Saturday morning" He says with a nod.

"Oh this is going to taste great. Hey Luka, you and Shelby better have finished your steak and eggs before I finish mine. Otherwise, I'm eating y'alls for you" I tell them playfully as I pick up my fork, and start to dig in.

***

Luka and I run through the snow heading towards the meeting valley, leaving a freshly made snow trail as we go. A few minutes after we finished our breakfast, Shelby went to go join my aunt, along with the other pure humans, and the Hybrid's as they come in from one way. While Luka, I, my uncle, Elliot, and the others, all come in from the other way.

We slow to a walk when we come to the opening in the trees to see if everyone has gotten there okay. There on the other side, in the other opening of the trees that surround the open valley stands a large gathering of people slowly making their way towards us. Turns out they got here at the same time that we did, just like I thought they would.

"Are you're sure you're ready for this, Little Sophie?" I hear my uncle grumble from a few wolves behind. I have explained the training plan for today to everyone all the way down here, I don't know why he would still be doubting it.

"Of course I am Uncle, why wouldn't I be?" I ask him in a grumble back.

"Just wondering Sophie, that's all" he slightly snarls back.

"Okay good, let's go then" I slightly whimper, as my pack come through the trees. At the same time Michelle, my aunt, Shelby, and the others come through on the other side, and slowly begin walking towards us. We begin to slowly walk towards each other, both sides listening to each other's footsteps as the land on the cold snow. Thump by thump. Beat by beat. Finally when there is only about four feet of space between the two parties I stop and everyone follows suit, then I shift back, take a step up, and then let out a breath. Luka and Elliot stand at my left side, while my uncle and Chris stand to my right.

"Morning everyone" I greet, and they all bow their heads. "Thanks for coming."

I'm about to speak further when the sound of thundering paws can be heard pounding through the snow behind us. We all turn our heads towards the noise to see where it's coming from. Suddenly out of the blue Cody's silver gray wolf runs up alongside Chris's wolf.

"Sorry I'm late, Alpha Sophie, morning sickness again" His wolf slightly whimpers as he turn towards me.

"No problem at all Cody, I understand perfectly" I say in a low tone as I look over my shoulder towards him.

"Better late than never, right little bro?" Keith asks him in a slight snarl. I turn towards Cody's big brother and shoot him a warning look, I then see Keith's ear flatten among the gathering of wolves behind me.

I turn back towards the others. "Now. I'm pretty sure most of you know how to defend yourselves if it really came down to it, am I right?" I ask, the other side nods almost in sync. "What we're going to teach you is a lot like that, but it's on steroids. Fighting against a werewolf isn't like being in a normal fist fight with a normal human there's a lot more to it than that." I then turn towards my uncle who gives me a slight nod, I then turn back towards the group out in front of me. "My Uncle has a lot of fighting experience, and is here to tell you the three most in portent things to remember if you're in a werewolf battle and hope to survive." I tell them.

My uncle then shifts back and takes a step up, while I take a step back to avoid getting in his way.

"Sophie's right. Fighting against werewolves is going to be no walk in the park for any of you, but if you remember then these three major don'ts that I'm about to tell you guys there's a good chance that most of y'all will stay alive. Do I make myself clear everyone?" He asks them in his teaching tone.

They all give him a firm nod, my uncle then clears his throat before speaking again.

"Alright, the first don't is. Never lose focus during a battle. Know what your enemy's doing at all times, if you take your eyes off them for even a moment, they could blitz attack you and take you down. The second is. Never get cocky during a fight, they'll take you down easily. Now the most in portent don't is. Never let a wolf get in your blind spot or on top of you, they'll overpower you. If they pen down all of your limbs with their paws most of you won't have anywhere else to go, that's when they'll strike, and you will be no more" He tells them firmly.

My Uncle then shifts into his wolf and takes a few steps forward, so that he's now in the space between the two parties. The pure human and hybrid group move back a few feet to give him more space. My uncle turns back towards me with a slight twitch of his ear, and I give him a slight nod. I take in another breath before speaking.

"Alright. Now that you all know the three major don'ts of werewolf fighting, you are now ready to learn how to fight, but before we go on to that. I want to show you how you should fight, so you will have a good idea about what to do in a one on one fight, and how to avoid doing those three major don'ts if you can" I say to everyone, they all nod. "Then Aunt Sherry, can you come to the center, and face your mate please?" I then request.

Gasps of shock then rip into the morning air at my request. "Of course I will Little Sophie" She says with a playful smirk across her face. There is yet another round of gasps from the other group, as she makes her way towards my uncle. Unlike her normal hospital outfit my aunt is wearing a black t-shirt with a light jacket, so that it doesn't restrict her movement, This takes me aback, it's weird for me seeing her in anything but her lab coat.

Before the other group starts to think I've gone totally mad for putting my aunt up against my uncle without any attack training, I speak up right as my aunt stops a few feet away from my uncle.

"Quiet down everyone over there" I command, and almost instantly all the gasps pipe down. "Thank you. Now before you guys start freaking out again, allow me to point something out for you guys to calm your fear. Shortly after they got married my Uncle taught my Aunt all the moves that you all are about to see. So long story short. My aunt's been trained and she's not in danger of any kind what so ever, besides all this is is just training, and if my aunt does end up slipping up. This is my Uncle, her mate, and he will not dare hurt her intentionally."

A sigh of relief can be heard dimly throughout the second group, I back up slightly so that I'm now back at Luka's side before speaking again. Okay. Now everybody pay attention please, because I don't want these two to have to replay this over and over for you guys." I look over towards my two parental guardians who are about to go head to head with each other. "You two may begin when you're both ready" I tell them softly.

I then go silent and watch.

"Liam. Don't you dare hold back, you hear me?" she asks taunting him, as she gets into position.

"Come on Sherry Baby, you know that's not my style of fighting or training" he replies back to her in a grumble.

"Sure dear. How long have we been married?" She asks him sarcastically.

Everyone from both sides of the groups backs up, leaving about twelve feet of space now between the center. My uncle then snarls as he charges towards his mate, but my aunt holds her ground, not daring to move. As he approaches my aunt, he lunges towards her right side, trying to get past her so that he can get behind her, but my aunt is too quick and slightly jumps to the right to block him. My uncle tries the same move again, this time though he lunges towards her left side, but it has the same result. Getting frustrated. My uncle then lunges for her head on, letting out a slight growl, revealing his canines as if he's really going to attack her. In response my aunt draws her arm back, and then strikes out towards him with her fist swiftly. A whine then erupts from my uncle, as her fist makes contact with his jaw.

While most of the wolves at my sides and behind me look on at attention, with their ears perfectly pricked and their eyes locked on the action ahead of them, my mate is feeling a totally different set of emotions, Luka's just standing beside me, looking on watching the scene in front of him play out, on shaky legs, with his eyes widened and his ears slightly flattened against his skull. I look down slightly towards him, being sure to keep one eye on my mate, and the other on the demonstration match.

"It's okay" I whisper. "It's alright Luka. My Aunt and uncle both have this under control, they'll be fine. Luka looks towards me, and gives me a nod along with a slight whimper. I then give him a reassuring smile, before I turn my attention back towards the fight at hand.

While her mate is now distracted by the pain from the blow that his mate just gave him, my aunt sneaks around to her opponent's right side, in other words his blind side, the side he can't see her on, and then she tackles him from the side before he even knows what hit him. The two of them fumble to the ground my uncle gently rolls over on top of his mate, my aunt. My aunt Sherry then gently wraps her arms around his neck firmly, and after a few moments of struggling and thrashing around trying to get out of her grip. My uncle gives up, and lets out a slight huff, as his body then relaxes.

"Looks like I win this time" My aunt says looking down from up above his head, right between his ears. My uncle then rolls over onto his belly, allowing my aunt to roll out from under him. "I didn't hit you too hard, or in the nose did I?" She then asks him sounding concerned, with her medical tone showing somewhat.

My uncle then shakes his head. "No Honey. You hit me in the jaw not in the nose, and it only stung for a second, you did great" He then grumbles. Then as they both stand up, my aunt and Uncle press their foreheads together as a way to reassure the other that the bond they both share is still there and that all is forgiven.

For a few moments after that the scene in front of us looks like it could've come from a Disney movie. Just the girl and the wolf standing there forehead to forehead, like there's no one else in the world, it almost seems magical. All too soon though they have to break apart, and they have to come back to their own groups.

===============================================

Okay guys this is chapter 17 I know it stunk, but it was the best that I could do. I mean it guys, this was a hard chapter to write, because I'm bot so good at writing training scenes, I'm mostly a romance and tug at your heartstrings scenes type of girl. Also if this chapter seem a little short, that's because it is. the second part of this was going to be getting too long. Well, for me at least. Wasn't the fight with Sophie's aunt and uncle cute?

1. What do you think of the training scene, any good?

2. How do you thing training's going to go?

3: Who likes Liam and Sherry's relationship?

As always to all of our new Emerald Shifters please be sure to keep reading, because we like to watch the numbers go up. Vote, because we love the support.
