Chapter Eleven

-Athena's POV-

I blinked my eyes open and let my head flop on my left shoulder. My eyes began to focus and then I realized I was tied to a chair. I smirked and looked around. I was inside what looked like a massive cave with tech litering the whole thing. In front of me was a huge computer, behind me was a platform with cars on it, on my sides were lofts will cases of costumes on it. I glanced up and saw millions of bats hanging from the cieling. One huge bang could wake them and unleash them upon everyone. If only I could get to my utility belt...

Batman along with Robin and Nightwing all stood at the computer. Batman was researching something while the other two looked on. I felt that they had taken the vial and my dagger. I wasn't completely trapped, but it would take a few moments of distraction to break my way through the ropes that held me. I could use my heel to maybe cut the bonds on my legs and then I could use my heel to break the ones on my hands. Simple.

I loudly cleared my throat and the three turned around. "She's awake," Nightwing called, standing about two feet away from me. Batman still stood at the computer while Robin followed behind Nightwing.

"Aw, look how cute. The third Robin in his little cape," I mocked, looking at Robin. He glared and stood his ground. "Oh come on! He is cute!" Nightwing held the vial of poison in his hand with a smirk on his face.

"You were trying to poison me, huh?" He tossed it towards Batman, who caught it without looking. I raised an eyebrow.

"Was that supposed to impress me?" I sat back in the chair, rubbing my wrists against the chair to try to break the bonds with some friction. Nightwing just laughed after he realized what I was doing.

"You're not gonna break through rope by rubbing a chair," he taunted, stepping a little closer. I looked him in the eye and smiled a smile that was a little too cheesy to actually be real. "We brought you into the Batcave to talk to you about the recent events we suspect you have been involved in."

"If you wanted to talk, you could've just talked to me on the dance floor, Grayson," I smirked, looking over at Batman. He had stopped typing and now was pulling up a file on the computer. I looked at it and tried to read it, but his body was blocking it.

"Well, that's why I tied you down. Because we knew you wouldn't follow the program if we gave you a choice," Nightwing said, removing his mask. Again his blue eyes seemed to glow. I felt a blush creeping up, but I tried to fight it. His eyes were like the color of the god damn ocean.

"Get on with it then. I'm getting bored," I sighed, blowing a stray piece of hair out of my face. Robin was staring at me, studying me. I pretended to bite the air, warning him to stop like a wild dog would. He crossed his arms and turned around.

"We know you have been taking out Black Sharks members as Nightingale in search of the Boss," Batman said, his deep voice making me shiver. I wasn't scared of him, it was just a signifigant difference from the voice I heard Bruce talk in earlier.

"Yeah, so? I'm doing Gotham a favor, I'm doing what you refuse to do. What all of you refuse to do! I'm taking the people who cause this city's problems out, permanently. I'm not a criminal, I'm doing Gotham a favor," I exclaimed, glaring at Batman. He narrowed his eyes again and pulled up a file that I could actually see.

"We need to know which side you are on, Victoria. The day you showed up, the Joker came out of hiding and robbed an art musuem. That's not a coincidence," Batman moved aside as I read what was on the screen. This Joker guy had stolen some bird picture after he had escaped from some asylum years ago.

"I don't know who that even is," I stated, examining the guy. He had white skin and green hair. He wore red lipstick on his lips that curved on his cheeks, making it look like he always had a smile on his face. He had long, yellow teeth that looked like a rat's teeth and wore a purple suit. This guy was weird.

"She's telling the truth," Robin informed Bats. He still continued to glare at me, but turned off his computer.

"Since you're not with the Joker, you're off the hook for that. But, you still have committed almost ten murders and that is against the law." Batman walked over to where Nightwing stood, and studied me as well. I just smirked and looked around again.

"Yeah, but you can't arrest me. They were all acts of self defense." Nightwing glared at me as I explained what had happened in every fight. To an outside perspective, they all did look like self defense. The three continued to glare at me as they retreated back to the computer and out of my hearing range. "Computer, sound amplifier," I whispered into the little com I still had in my ear.

"We don't seem to have a choice," Batman said. Nightwing growled and tightened his hands into fists.

"You want a murderer to become the next fucking Robin!? You're crazy." Nightwing scoffed.

"Dick, if I don't take her in, she will continue to kill more and more people and put even more in danger. It is my responsibility to protect this city. She puts it in danger. We can't arrest her and if we let her go, she'll keep going out at night. The only way to keep her out of the city, is bring her into the family," Batman explained, "if she's training with us, we could convince her to see that killing isn't the only option." Oh yeah, right. Killing is the easiest and most effective ways of getting rid of a target.

"Do whatever you want, Bruce," Nightwing huffed as Batman and Robin turned around to face me. Nightwing refused to look at me. I laughed to myself at his obvious jealously of me and quietly turned off the amplifier.

"What was the big Bats saying that made Nightwing so grouchy?" I asked, smirking at Grayson. He glared and turned back around to face the computer.

"You are a threat to my city. I think you take pleasure in knowing that. So, you need to be taken out. I want to take you under my wing and train you to be on the right side of justice. I've seen how you fight and how smart you are, so, Victoria Smith, I want to work with us," Batman offered. I smiled and shook my head.

"I'm good. I do better by myself, I have a house, and I have a job. I don't want to be living in Wayne Manor with you and little Timmy over there," the two guys' eyes widened when I revealed their idenitites. Batman's expression returned to normal quickly, leaving Robin in complete shock. I smirked and winked at him.

"Alright, fine," Batman pulled off his mask and got close to my face, "I'm not giving you a choice. You either become a partner or an enemy. If you choose the latter, then that would make you my target. And I will not stop until I take you down." He threatened, making his words sound like small barks. I glared and spat in his face.

"You couldn't take me down even if you tried, Bruce," I taunted. Batman wiped the spit off of his nose and gained the lost distance again.

"Oh really? Because I literally just drugged you and brought you down here," Nightwing said, stepping closer. I smiled, knowing I had made him angry. His hands were in fists and a vein on his neck was popping out on his neck.

"Yeah but I already knew about that. Next time you want to drug someone, use Ether. It's odorless. The beautiful blue champagne you offered me smelled a little too sweet. I recognized the smell as trihalomethane, aka Chloroform," I said, with a suddenly serious tone. Grayson gasped and let his expression soften to wonder.

"Wait, if you knew, why did you drink it anyway?" He asked, stepping closer.

"I'm a curious girl, I wanted to see what you would do. This is way more fun than fighting you on the streets, I'll tell you that," I chuckled, smiling at the people in front of me. There was no way I was gonna work with them, Ra's had made it clear that my plan to poison Grayson was the smartest plan. He would never approve of me working with them.

"Are you in or out?" Tim asked, switching the attention away from the still shocked, Dick Grayson. I didn't want to work with them, but I also didn't want the Batman tracking me while I was trying to complete my mission. You don't want to get on the wrong side of Batman, Ra's words echoed in my mind. Plus, the easiest way to getting my stuff back is training with the Batfamily.

"Well, seems like I don't really have a choice, so yeah sounds cool," I smiled, "just as long as I don't have to wear that." I nodded my head a Robin's outfit. Tim glared and Batman stepped forward, probably to untie me. "Nah, I got it." I whispered to the com in my ear to go into assissant mode. It turned into a tiny robot and cut my bonds. I used my free hands to untie my legs and stood up.

"You could've done that the whole time?" Robin smiled in amazement. I nodded and put the com back into my ear.

"Welcome on board," Batman shook my hand and handed me my dagger back. I strapped it back to my thigh and smiled.

"When do we start?"
